  1. Easier Navigation when working within a request category

Having "next request" and "previous request" options/buttons when working within a group/category of resource sharing requests within ALMA (e.g. cancelled by patron/staff) similar to OCLC's Worldshare

  2. Blocking borrowing requests on books published within the last year

With an active automatic rota for books, borrowing requests sent from Primo to Alma are automatically sent to partner. This applies for books published within the last year as well. Before we activated the autoROTA, we would usually change most of these borrowing requests into purchase requests and place the patron on a waiting list.
New books requested by a patron are often items we want to purchase ourselves, and not spend money on borrowing from our partners in addition. With the autoRota there is no way for us to block these borrowing requests from…

    Hi,

We’re thinking along the lines of enabling rules that will automatically turn resource sharing requests to purchase requests based on criteria such as:
    - Requester User Group
    - Copyright related block
    - Publication Date within time
    - Request failure Yes\No → This will enable to set the rule to work when the request is created or when it is rejected

The rules output will have options to either create purchase request in addition to the resource sharing one or cancel the resource sharing request and create purchase request instead.

  3. Auto-tick Notify User box in Request Cancellation dialogue on Alma

Is there a way to set the ‘notify user’ box within the Request Cancellation dialogue box (Alma) to auto-tick by default? At the moment, the box is blank and we would like to set it up to tick by default so that user notifications don’t accidentally get missed.

The box is within the Request Cancellation dialogue box where you enter the cancellation reason and notes.

  4. Add min-max age filter (eg, 1 week-2 weeks) to resource sharing request

Our RS requests need regular maintenance. Typically we look at those that are at least 1 week old. The current request filters show all requests up to a week (Today, Yesterday, Three Days Ago, etc., up to a week) or up to a month (same as the other filter, except all the way up to 30 days). It would be nice to ONLY see requests of a minimum age (eg, 1 week and older). And possible a range (min-max slider).

  5. Improve discoverability of rejected requests in the Monitor Requests page

We often have to locate cancelled patron physical and digitisation requests in the Monitor Requests page. However, these requests are difficult to locate as they can only be retrieved by Title (a non-unique field) and cannot be filtered or sorted.
    Please add:
-A filter for request status which includes 'rejected'
-The ability to sort requests by date created or date updated so that recent rejected requests can be seen at the top of the page
-retain the requester id. The main search term we use to locate a rejected request is the requester…

  6. Limit to the number of request per item

We would like to have a limit on requests per item? Would it be possible to add this as an option to select (or not), with a self-chosen number for the limit. Otherwise a book could be requested by 25 people for example and after a while (months) it wouldn't be picked-up due to lost interest.

  7. Allow Patrons to Request Items in Work Orders

Currently, all work orders automatically make all items in that work order unavailable to patrons in the catalog. Some work orders may be for workflows or processes that can allow for items to be requested and pulled for users.

If, during the setup and configuration, work orders have the option of "allowing patron requests" or "do not allow patron requests" (similarly to how recall notices are an option), then some work orders can allow for patrons to request items so they can be pulled and delivered, based on the work order type.

  8. Allow personal delivery requests to be converted to resource sharing requsts

Currently, Alma does not allow personal delivery requests to be converted to resource sharing requests. Library staff have to change the pickup location from personal delivery to a physical library, convert the request to a resource sharing request, and then change the pickup location back to Personal Delivery. Can this be changed so staff can convert personal delivery requests to resource sharing requests without having to change the pickup location?

  9. Allow staff to override if an item type is not requestable

We would like some books (like a reference book) to be non-requestable for a student. However, we would like for staff to be able to put in a request on a student's behalf for a reference book, or perform an override when appropriate.

  10. Prevent placing different request types on the same item

Currently in Alma there is no cross check and no way to prevent a patron from placing both a Physical Item Request and the Digitization Request on a single item. The Ex Libris expectation is that requests will be reconciled through the request queues. However this adds additional time to the request process as it requires contacting the requester to confirm which type of request they need. I encountered the lack of a preventive configuration created a concrete clash as it came to our attention when a patron placed both types of requests on an item. This…

  11. Block lenders from updating expired lending requests to shipped

Alma currently allows libraries to ship lending resource sharing requests even after they expire. This can occasionally create extremely confusing situations where the borrowing library receives multiple items from multiple libraries for the same lending request. Unfortunately, Alma completes both the borrowing and lending request when the lender who let the reqeust expire receives the item they shipped back from the lender. The only way to fix a problem like this is to delete the original reqeust at all three libraries and then create a brand new request. Can you please have Alma block any attempt to…

  12. Adding the possibility to display the portfolio lists and the item list when creating a lending request from search

When creating a lending request from search, it would be nice if we could display the portfolio list and the items in order to have more info about the availability (coverage and status)

  13. Use preferred email from Partner record for shipping digital Lending Requests

Often the Requester Email in a Lending Request is not the email that we can ship a digital item to (or sometimes the Requester Email is empty). Instead, the email address we use is from the preferred email address in the Partner record. We would like configuration to be made available so institutions could choose to use the preferred email address from the Partner record in Alma when shipping digitally instead of the Requester Email address that comes with the Lending Request.

  14. Converting Digitization request to RS request - on conversion the Chapter title to be added to Chapter Number

When converting a digitation request into a Resource Sharing borrowing request. We need the chapter title should be also be transferred to the chapter number (or to both “Chapter Number” and “Chapter title”). So that it can be recognised by the RapidILL API process.

  15. “In Review” requests sorted by creation date

In the Acquisitions> Purchase Request> Manage Purchase Request> “In Review” requests, these are displayed in reverse order of the creation date.

It would be more useful if the default order was by creation date, that is, the oldest requests were shown in the top, so that they are managed in the first place. In this way, it would save time in their management.
Another possibility would be that the librarian could select the type of ordering of the requests.

  16. Approved Purchase Requests should NOT appear in My Task List

The purpose of the My Task List is to highlight and provide easy access to Tasks which are awaiting processing. Only InReview and new, unprocessed Purchase Requests should appear in the Task List.

Ex Libris Response: "After the request is approved (or rejected), it is moved automatically to the Unassigned tab (thus, populating the Tasks list) for reference purposes. Users with the Selector - Extended role can delete requests (e.g. from the Unassigned tab), this updating the counter in the Tasks list."

We maintain that this is a bug, not an enhancement request -- Ex Libris has not…

The May 2018 Release includes the feature of having the tasks list (on the main menu bar) show only the purchase requests that require your attention—those in the In Review status. 17. Requesting Multiple Volumes or Multiple Copies of One Title

Alma will not allow a patron to request a second volume of a title on the same record unless the item has a description. However, as one of our catalogers explained: "Since they are part of an analyzed set, the volume number goes on the holding record, not the item record, and therefore, there needs to be two holding records."

This is problematic for requesting analyzed sets from our off-site storage facility, which is where we get the most complaints from our patrons.

We put in a Salesforce case (#00485416) about this, but they closed it because they insist…

  18. Link approved purchase request to POL

Many of our Purchase Requests contain notes and comments that are useful in tracing purchase history and resolving issues. It would be useful to be able to open the Purchase Request from within a POL to access this information.

    Dear Steve,
Thanks for taking the time to share this idea. I’m glad to say that this is already supported and each PO line hold within it the “Additional” section where you can find the “Source type” field. When the source type field is “Purchase Request” it is linkable and direct the user to the purchase request which generated the PO line in view mode (including it’s notes if exists). Please see attached screen shot which present the link on the PO line to the purchase request.

    Thanks,
Noam Fass | Alma product management

  19. Choose more than one facet in Lending requests and Borrowing requests

Currently In Alma there is no option to choose more then one facet in the same category in the pages Lending requests and Borrowing requests.
for example I can't choose to watch Created lending request and Renew requested at the same time.
It will be very helpful if it works.

The new UI for Resource-Sharing Borrowing Requests and Lending Requests Task Lists has been released in August 2022, see the 'Borrowing Requests and Lending Requests' section in the release notes. Among many other features, this new UI allows for multiple criteria to be selected in each facet category, providing more flexibility in the creation of a filtered request list.

  20. Request for improved functionality "Search bibliographic records matching this value" in Alma's authority repository search.

We request enhancements to Alma's authority repository search function.

Currently, when we click "Search bibliographic records matching this value" from a specific authority record in the search result to move to the bibliographic record list page, we have not be able to back to the authority record list page displayed in the first search.
A Back icon is displayed on the bibliographic record list page, but even if we click it repeatedly, we will not be able to return to the authority list page, and will eventually move to the top screen of Alma.
Returning to the authority record list…
