  1. Provide ability to turn off the Related Record functionality for physical items

Provide ability to turn off Related Record functionality for physical items. I would like to be able to decide for each related field in the MARC record - 773, 774, 777, 786, 800, 810, 811, and 830 whether or not Primo will display the related record information for physical items.

There are cases where displaying related record information to the user is more confusing then helpful. 830 series fields, for example, will display "related" records that may not relate at all to a users search, especially if the series is general like: "Brill's studies in intellectual history." I would like…

  2. Add "Search within results" box on a set

    Hello,

It would be very useful if we had a search box of "Search within results", on a set we created with indication rules.

    Thanks.

  3. In Advanced Search, allow filtering OUT specific locations. For example, allow use of the filer: Physical Location "IS NOT" X.

Many searches do not allow for an "IS NOT" operator, and in some cases it is greatly missed. For example, when trying to assemble large sets of records where you want to exclude just a few locations, or filter out a single library. Please allow for an "IS NOT" operator when doing an advanced search and filtering by location or library. I'm sure there are other search filters also missing the "IS NOT" operator. Please feel free to add more suggestions via a comment! :)

  4. Allow suppression of items from Discovery in Primo

I would like a check-box in the item record that would allow staff to suppress individual items from discovery in Primo. This could be used for libraries that want to use only a single discoverable "dummy" item for placing requests on physical journals in Primo as well as libraries that prefer not to have items discoverable by patrons until they are done with processing and are available on the shelves. In an ideal world, if a holdings record only had suppressed items, the holding record would also not display. Moreover, if all items on all holdings attached to a bibliographic…

  5. Change physical items job -- adding notes

The Change physical items job allows you to add Internal notes 1-3 or Statistical notes 1-3 by REPLACING any notes that already exist in that field, but not by adding the note IN ADDITION TO already existing text. This option needs to be added. Also, the current job allows you to skip records that already contain notes in your selected field but a "successful" run does not report out which records were SKIPPED as a result.

  6. Ability to find bib records with attached PO lines but no inventory

    Problem:
It is not possible to easily find IZ bibliographic records that have associated PO lines but no inventory. The All Titles Advanced Search has an option to search for “Has inventory | equals | no”, but those results include bibliographic records that have related holdings records (bound withs), as well as bibliographic records that have holdings records but no item records. We want the ability to easily find bibliographic records that have only a PO line associated with them.

    Use Case:
The ability to find bibs with only PO lines attached is necessary in order to keep the database…

  7. Title starts with search in Advanced Search

Change "Title Starts With" search in Advanced Search

There are situations when it's easier or more efficient to search by the beginning of the title. However, the “Title Starts With:” search in Advanced Search in Alma requires the user to know whether the title begins with an article (A, An, The) or not, and if so, which article it begins with. So users are expected to remember if a title begins with "A", "The", or no initial article in order to perform the search successfully. Why not just return both results, and let the user decide, instead of forcing them…

  8. Improve Alma Job Reports for Failed Record

It would be extremely helpful if more details were given when there are failed records or records with exceptions on the jobs we run in Alma. Many of the job reports only report the number of failed records. It would be great if the report would provide MMSID information so the we know what records failed.

  9. Display the date a work order is created

When a work order is created to put an item in process internally ("Technical Services (CAMS)" or "Show to supervisor" or "Preservation") it would be helpful to have Alma display the date this status change happened.

It could be in the "item history", and/or the "In process" display, and /or in the "list of items." Currently, the receipt date is the last date displayed in these locations, which does not help with locating an in-process item.

  10. Allow configuration of quick cataloguing form required fields

We currently only use the quick cataloguing form at circulation desks to create quick records to loan items found on the shelves but not found on Alma. The items are loaned and then the work order routes them to the cataloguing team on return. All these items already have call numbers so we'd like the call number field to be a required field in the quick cataloguing form. Sometimes returned items are incorrectly returned to the shelves and if the quick catalogue record does not include the call number they are often impossible to track down.

  11. Access detailed error reports for all jobs

University of South Australia Library would be interested in accessing various error reports for the jobs that we run at the time when we run the jobs.
We are aware we can check Import errors as per "Resolving Import Issues" but for other type of jobs we cannot check error reports.
As an example, running a filtering job on a set provides us with a report including a brief information on the number of records that "failed" as in this message:
"Of the 67201 records processed, 4 records failed. For more information view the report details (or contact Support using…

  12. Customize Alma search indexes

We would like to customize the search indexes in Alma for all MARC21 fields (not just localized fields). For instance, in the Alma advanced search > all titles > "Title" > we would like to change to "245 (Title)" to make it easier to identify the MARC21 field we want to search.

  13. Ability to suppress licenses from discovery

Sometimes, licenses have confidentiality clauses, so we can't show them in Primo, but right now, it is an all or nothing prospect. it would be great if a checkbox on the record could suppress a confidential license from showing up in Discovery.

  14. Refine search and Search external resources function

When using the "Search external resources" function under profiles including several external catalogs, we can only use refine search link on the first tab.

It would be great if the refine search link was on all tabs rather than on the fisrt tab only.

  15. When using Scan in Items, provide a pop-up window when there is a hold on an item.

When we process returned materials from resource sharing partners we use Scan in Items. If there is a hold on an item it only displays the message on the screen, and does not provide a pop-up alert. It would seem useful to provide a similar pop-up like you get when processing items with Return Items.

  16. Linking bib records based on 830 $x should be optional

Alma currently links bib records based on the presence of the ISSN in the 830 $x. This causes a terribly confusing display in Primo and Alma and is prone to messing up requests. This should be an optional "feature" and not automatically enabled. We do have the option to turn off all related records, but if we use that, we lose all our boundwith relations.

We should not have to delete a valid MARC subfield (830 $x) in order to prevent related holdings record displaying in Alma and Primo.

  17. VIAF Integration for Alma

I have been looking at the Alma Road map for 2018/19 and note the exciting BIBFRAME and Linked Data initiatives.

Fitting in nicely would be the facility to search VIAF from within Alma.
This would make it easier to check what already exists in authority files internationally and identify a suitable entry if we have to add identifying information for disambiguation purposes.

  18. Make Suppressing a location function the same as suppressing a holding in all publishing jobs

Currently, the general publishing job exports inventory in locations which are ticked "Suppress from Discovery" in Physical Locations config, when "Excluded Suppressed Locations: is ticked in the Publishing Profile.

Alma should handle this flag as it does for Publishing to Primo and Publishing to Libraries Australia and ignore suppressed locations, otherwise what's the point of setting this at the location level and then providing an option to Exclude suppressed records. It is extra work to set this value for each individual bib/holdings record.

  19. Expand "Create Physical Items Work Order" job to include work order Status

The “Create Physical Item Work Orders” job should be expanded to allow users to add work order Status in addition to Type and Department to a set of records. Currently adding Status is a 2nd separate step. After running the job to apply Type and Department, you must then sign into the appropriate Currently At location, Manage In Process Items, and then apply the Work Order Status (limited to one screen of 20 records at a time). Very Inefficient!

  20. New UI-Call Number as an option in the search customization

In the old UI when conducting a search the call number would display in the search results. In the new UI each individual title now has to have the physical title clicked on to see the call number. It would be helpful to have a call number option under the customization options so that it would eliminate all of the unnecessary clicking when trying to view call numbers during a search.
