How can we improve Alma?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Alma Mobile App, pick from shelf, add edition

    It would be great if edition/year could be added to the Pick From Shelf functionality within the Alma Mobile App

    Currently you only see Title & Editor + Location, Call Number and # of Requests, we have multiple editions of items and often find the wrong one is picked, requiring the staff member to go back and get a different copy (after checking Alma Desktop for the correct edition)

    If more data was shown, either on the pick list or by pressing the title to pick, it would improve the functionality of the app.

    Would be great to have ISBN to Pick from shelf list. In Alma mobile too.

  5. Scanning books with Alma Mobile to do Shelf Report

    The idea is to allow staffs to scan the barcodes of a batch of books on the shelf to automatically create a list that will upload to Alma Shelf Report, so we can check misplaced books, missing books, and books that have not been added to Alma, etc. This eliminates the need to create an excel list of barcodes, a desktop laptop, and a handheld scanner. Shelf reading will become faster, more streamlined, and more accurate.

  6. Add check-out function to Alma mobile

    I think it would be useful to add the check-out function to Alma mobile. Sometimes the circulation desk is busy so it would be helpful if library staff could check-out books for users from a mobile device.

  7. Include storage location ID field in pick from shelf API's for display in Alma Mobile

    See this email thread from Alma-L:

    Hi Caroline,

    We would need to enhance the data returned in the pick from shelf APIs to include the storage location ID field in order for it to appear in the display in Alma Mobile.

    Would you put this on the Idea Exchange (http://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com) and let others comment on your idea? We would like to find out if other customers would also like to see this field in the Pick From Shelf display.

  8. Additional inventory functionality for Alma App

    At Northwestern we need to do regular checks of library carrels to make sure that books are checked out to each carrel. Since moving to Alma our process for doing these checks has become more labor intensive as we must perform several steps to check (1) if the item is on loan and (2) who it is on loan to.

    It would be helpful of there were an option to scan in an item and immediately view current process type and if on loan, the patron name. Unlike Scan in Items, this action would not result in an action on…
