  1. Local Authorities for Network Zone linked records

Alma provides the possibility of local authorities for cataloguing in an Institutional Zone and its local records. Unfortunately I cannot use those local authorities if I work in a Network Zone environment for records linked to the Network Zone.
    I would like to:
    a. define the local authority in the Institution Zone.
    b. Link to this local authority in a local field 6XX (= with $$9LOCAL) via F3 in MDE even if the bibliographic record is linked to the Network Zone.

  2. Alma collections: Allow to add from network zone

Our Alma consortium shares a common network zone. On the local institution level, we are building Alma collections (not digital/electronic collections). We can add titles from the institution zone, but we can't add titles from the network zone.

    This is documented:
Alma Online Help (English) > Resource Management > Inventory > Managing Collections

"You can only add titles from your Institution Zone to collections. NZ-managed inventory cannot be added to collections."

This is very bad since many of our e-book packages are managed on the NZ level. So we can't add e-books to our collection and present them together with…

  3. Make Alma able to deactivate the security of the RFID tags when lending items from other IZs

In a network circulation context, Alma cannot currently disable the security of the RFID tag when lending the document from another institution zone (hold shel request on items of other IZs). We would like Alma to be able to deactivate the security of items of other IZs. Currently the deactivation must be done "manually" in a third party software.

  4. Add pickup library code to On Hold Shelf Letter (FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter)

In our consortial environment we are maintaining a public list of libraries. The patrons can see the library contact information there for each library in our network - https://libraries.swisscovery.help.

We would like to add a URL link to this list to specific pickup library where the user has to pickup the title mentioned in the On Hold Shelf Letter (code FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter).

Unfortunately, the pickup library code is not available in the letter XML. There are pickup library name (request/deliveryaddress) or combination of library name and circulation desk name (request/calculateddestination_name). But these are not suitable for URL linking.

  5. Please add specific limitations for interlibrary loan requests in Primo VE between institutions.

We are a library consortium that conducts interlibrary loans through a fulfillment network. We hope that when a reader from Institution A requests a book from Institution B via Primo VE, if Institution A already has the book and it is available for loan, the request cannot be processed.

If Alma has this filtering function, it can not only save shipping costs but also reduce the waiting time for readers.

  6. Ability for fulfillment staff to renew patron loans from other institutions under network activity in Alma

Our consortium would like circulation desk staff to have the ability within Alma to renew items on loan from other institutions from under a user's network activity tab (renew all and renew selected, though renew all being more helpful if both are not possible).

Currently, only the user has access to a renewal option via their Primo VE My Library Card.

  7. Check out an item to a visiting patron's account at their home institution. Direct Pick-up Resource Sharing

Instead of creating and managing a visiting patron's record, allow libraries to check items out onto their home institutions record. The patron could validate by choosing the institution and having the patron sign in to their account.

As a patron I could go to any library in my network and easily check out an item there by signing into my home library and checking out the items. Everything checked out would show up on my home library's record and I could return the item either at the lending library or my home library.

  8. Allow reserves citations from Network Zone electronic portfolios

When adding a citation to a course reading list through a repository search, that search is currently limited to the IZ. However, for consortial Alma implementations, there may be significant electronic inventory managed in the NZ, and that becomes unavailable to reserves. When doing a repository search to add a citation, NZ electronic inventory should be available.

  9. Fulfilment Network - Control of the Register button display by user group of the logged-in user.

*This is for the Fulfillment Network, not AFN.

The Register button(1) is displayed even if the logged-in user is set to "Restricted Users"(2).

Primo VE checks with Alma whether the FN function is available after pressing the Register button.

We think this button control is not designed with the User experience.
This is because the existence of the register button is meaningless for users who cannot use this feature.

To improve this function, the Register button should not be displayed to users who are set as Restricted Users.

  10. Alma User Role for Editing/Deleting only Quick-Cataloged Records

    Scenario:
Library staff frequently need to create records for resources using the Quick Cataloging feature. Often, those records need to be edited after creation, due to mismatching resource types, updated information, operator input errors, etc. Most of the staff using the Quick Cataloging feature are not trained as catalogers, and do not have cataloging roles in Alma.

    Problem:
Quick-Cataloged records are not editable by staff without cataloging roles in Alma - who are frequently the creators/managers of these records. This has led to several different workarounds at various institutions:

Some institutions have given their non-cataloging staff full cataloging permissions to…

  11. Vendors : simplify Contact information and People contact tabs

    Hello,

Handle vendors in ALMA is pretty twisted and not user friendly !

We can understand the distinction between Vendor details (network level) and Vendor account details (institution level).

But why distinguish Contact information and People contact in two separate tabs ?
This makes us input twice same informations.

Our request : to get one tab for all Contacts ; each contact would be distinguished by a specific frame with name, first name, job description, email, postal mail and phone nember. All display in one single screen.

If you share this request, VOTE.

  12. Network Zone suppress dedup/frbr should have a library/location tree

The Network Zone should have the ability to suppres dedup/frbr at the library>location which exists when suppressing dedup/frbr for IZ only bib records from displaying in Primo VE.

IZ only bib records suppress dedup/frbr allows a library to suppress on the permanent physical location in a library. New records added to the location automatically suppress dedup/frbr in Primo VE once this has been configured.

For NZ linked records using the Network Zone, suppressing dedup/frbr for an library/location in the network means multiple steps and constant updating are required from an institution and Network Zone. A local extension needs to be…

  13. Fulfillment Network: when a patron loses a book from another institution, allow for automated blocking of that patron at all institutions

So in other words, when a patron from institution A checks out a book from institution B and then Alma marks it is lost, it would be great if Alma could automatically place a consortial block on that patron so they are unable to check out books from any institution. We currently have this working as a custom integration using the Alma API, but it would be great if this were native functionality in Alma.

  14. Patron Loan Limits should work like network level blocks

For institutions using Resource Sharing or fulfillment networks, we recently gained the ability to use network level blocks, however most of our blocked patrons are blocked due to loan limits configuration (cash, overdue recalls, etc), not manual blocks.

We would like the ability to include those blocks as network blocks as well, so that our patrons that visit other sites will have the same level of blocks as their home institution without us having to manually add a block.

  15. Allow network zone e-collections to be made available to inventory management groups within an institution using different proxies

When providing access to electronic resources from the NZ, resources are made "available for" member institutions and if applicable a proxy is set, meaning the institution's default proxy. However, these institutions may themselves be providing distributed access to e-resources via network inventory groups using different proxy integration profiles (such as different colleges using a single Alma institution, with inventory management groups mapped to campuses). In this case it is not possible for the member institution to use NZ e-resources since the proxy might not work for one or another campus, or one campus in the institution might have access and…

  16. Making Copy to Community / Network / Institution configurable

When searching for authoritiy records, there are options to copy an authority to Network or to Community or even to the Institution zone.

We understand there may be institutions and consortia administrating different kind of vocabularies at different levels, but this is not the case for all. We see in our consortium too many mistakes due to catalogers selecting the wrong button when importing a record. We therefore strongly suggest making all these options configurable, so that it will be possible to hide the buttons.

  17. Allow network zone administrators to unlink bibs from member institutions

In many cases member institutions share records with the NZ that go against the consortium's policy. In these cases the only recourse is to ask the member institution to "copy to catalog", which unlinks the record, allowing the NZ to delete the bib record. This can be cumbersome in a large consortium. It should be possible for the NZ admins to perform this action, i.e. while working in the NZ to unlink a bib from member IZs, as though any institutions holding that bib had selected "copy to catalog".

  18. Display "Bibliographic Rank" for Electronic Collections IZ/NG

In the November 2023 Alma release, "bibliographic rank" information displays for Community Zone collections (please see attached screenshot and https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173/suggestions/39648964) but this information does not display for Community Zone collections activated in the Institution Zone/Network Zone.

This makes it more time consuming to evaluate the bib record quality of collections already activated because one would need to search for them one by one in the CZ.

Please display "bibliograpic rank" for all elections collections (CZ and local too if possible) in a library's Institution Zone and Network Zone and also make this data available in Analytics so reports can…

  19. Communicate edited AFN request details back to user's library, for inclusion in next ROTA stop.

In our Automated Fulfillment Network (AFN), we are using the "volume" field in the resource sharing request form as the way users can indicate which volume(s) of a multi-volume set they wish to request from another AFN member institution. These requests are title level requests.

(I'll note: We are not currently using the "description field" selection option in the request form, since upon last testing, it treated, for example, a "v. 2" as a different item than a "v.2" or a "V. 2" or a "2" when building the rota, and our consortium has too much variability right now in…

  20. Add a mapping structure for normalization/merge rules in MDE

The numbers of normalization rules is getting quite annoying. When we are in a consortium we also see every rule in the network zone.
I would like a posibility to create folders like in Analytics.
This would be helpful to group rules by institution or category.
