  1. Copy POL data to new POL with different order line type

    We still experience issues when a POL is created with the 'wrong' POL type / inventory type (e.g., a print POL is created but e-inventory needs to be attached) - these 'incorrect' POLs must be deleted and recreated manually. There are other ideas out there to make POL types and architecture more flexible, such as this one:

  2. Add option to configure Process Types for Physical Items

    Alma Process Types and the associated Base status of 'Item not in place' are hardcoded, as are the automated workflows within Alma and the flow-through to Primo for the availability to be set to 'Not Available'.
    This is extremely limiting and there are scenarios when a Library might want their physical resources to still be discoverable in Primo ie not suppressed, but also be marked as Unavailable, such as if there were a temporary mould outbreak.     Library staff now have better control over process types: placing and removing institution-level work order types using the Change Physical items information job, searching by work order type and excluding a specific work order type from discovery. The work order types were enhanced to streamline workflows, allowing handling in bulk and without scanning items in.

  3. Placing requests through ALMA for items in stock

    When a borrower has forgotten their ID card and asks us to keep books for them, in the past we have issued these to the Holds Trolley, so that we know where they are, until such time as the borrower returns. However, we want to convert these into official requests, so that they are time limited; cannot be requested by anyone else in the meantime; and no student can request more items than their limit, thus denying other people the use of those books.   4. Include variables in subject line in letter emails costumization

    In Alma you can costumize emails and letters message body via XSL including the related data from xml, but not in the subject area, where you can write only fixed text. We need the possibility to add changing information in subject area, for example add the id of requests in the subject of the Resource sharing emails. It would be possible to configure the subject field to accept variables/placeholder containing the data in xml emails?

  5. Ability to customize Discovery display labels for work orders down to the status level

    For Discovery display labels (labels in Primo), all work order types (fulfillment, bindery, and acquisitions) are controlled through the following two customizations:

    1) c.uresolver.getit2.itemlist.status.WORKORDERDEPARTMENT.
    with
    expected_date In process of {0} until {1} (where 0=Work Order Type, and 1=Work Order Days to Process)

    2) c.uresolver.getit2.itemlist.status.WORKORDERDEPARTMENT.

    So, currently, we cannot customize down the the statuses setup (local to us) under the work order departments, but this would be helpful to do. For instance, we have fulfillment work orders with a status of Trace Request

  7. Booking, transit and preview time

    We use the booking functionality in Alma for our Audio/Video-equipment. The equipment is administrated by our media production department, and is configured as a library in Alma.

    The AV-library is the only place on campus patrons can check out and return AV-items. Apart from that, the AV-library also supports delivery to a library at a different campus (Kjeller).

    • The transit time between the AV-library and Kjeller is set to 48 hours.
    • The preview time on the equipment booking is set to one hour.

    Use case:
    When scanning an item due for pick-up at Kjeller within the next 48…

  8. Allow lending libraries to send lost resource sharing item invoices directly to the borrowing library in Alma

    Currently, Alma does not allow a lending library to send an invoice to a borrowing library within Alma in the event a resource sharing item is lost or damaged. This requires libraries to develop a manual resource sharing billing workflow outside of Alma. An Alma letter that can serve as a lost resource sharing item invoice would be incredibly helpful. We would need to be able to trigger this letter manually for specific requests on demand, but it would also be extremely helpful if this letter could be triggered automatically once an item is more than a certain number…

    Allow access to "Roles Privileges" configuration for General System Administrator

    Ex Libris staff have the ability to remove specific privileges from Alma roles via the "Roles Privileges" configuration (User Management - Roles and Registration - Roles Privileges)

    Since roles in Alma are not very fine-grained, and roles often grant access to groups of privileges that shouldn't necessarily be granted as a set, it would be very helpful for customers to have access to the "Roles Privileges" configuration.

    Ideally we would have the ability to make edits ourselves, but Read-Only access would also be valuable, because it would allow us to:

  10. Ability to require pick up date field when making requests

    It would be helpful if we could lock the pick up date field for making requests so that it is required to be filled in by the patron. We use Alma with Primo VE and will be relying heavily on the request function to prepull items to be used in our reading room. While the pick up date may not be necessary for many institutions, it would be nice if the pick up date had the option to be required for the institutions that want to customize the request functionality.

    "The process that sends purchase requests to vendors sometimes does not work correctly.

    The error is only detected when the vendor notifies you that they have not received the purchase request.

    To check the error, you must go to the Job (scheduled task).

    Shouldn't there be a way in Alma to report these failures more visibly?"

  13. Make all Address Types usable for Personal Delivery

    Only addresses with an Address Type of 'Home' or 'Office' can be used for Personal Delivery. This is a problem for us because the addresses that come through into Alma for each user from our student information system integration are in Address Types ‘Home’ and ‘School’. We don’t use ‘Office’. We are unable to get the systems integration changed for local reasons. We would like to see all Address Types made usable for Personal Delivery, with options in the Request Terms of Use to enable us to show only the Address Types that we use and therefore that we want…

    When handling requests it would be timesaving to have patrons preferred Language visible as well as if you need to contact the user.   15. Allow API clients to include/exclude fields in the response data

    It would be great if API clients could include/exclude fields of the response data of API calls.

    The rational behind this stems from a use case of our own:

    When making calls to the Alma and also Primo APIs we get a huge chunk of data back from which we only need a small portion. If we were able to make an API request in which we could specify upfront which fields we would and/or wouldn't need would: (1) prevent all that overhead data, (1) reduce the network traffic and (3) increase the response speed.

  16. Move the Level of service facet to the top of the facet list

    Currently the Level of Service facet is at the base of the facet list, almost always hidden by the facets above it. I would like to see it moved to the top of the list as the timely processing of material for Rush or Express requests depends on being able to find those requests and action them quickly. As it is currently unless you specifically scroll down the list, you don't even know those requests have come in.

  17. Add the ability for users to view current AFN checkout information via the My Account feature on self-check machines.

    Currently, when a user accesses My Account via a self-check machine, they are unable to view any information pertaining to their active AFN checkouts. We opened a support case with Ex Libris, reporting these findings and providing details provided by our self-check vendor (mkSolutions), and their final decision was that this functionality is not currently supported, requiring an enhancement request.

    Enhancement Request: Add the ability for users to view current AFN checkout information via the My Account feature on self-check machines.

    It should be possible to apply the Copyright Work Percentage Rule for:
    1. Patron Digitization Requests
    2. RS Borrowing requests

    And not just for:

    Changing the location after items are moved to Active Hold Shelf

    The location in the Active Hold Shelf item represents the location of the item when the request has been submitted. So, the location of all request that is created on when items are in the process of acquisitions, it’s not updated until the requestor loan it.
    It makes fulfillment staff confused because items look like not ready to loan.
    The best would be updating location after items are moved to the Active Hold Shelf.
