Allow suppression of items from Discovery in Primo
I would like a check-box in the item record that would allow staff to suppress individual items from discovery in Primo. This could be used for libraries that want to use only a single discoverable "dummy" item for placing requests on physical journals in Primo as well as libraries that prefer not to have items discoverable by patrons until they are done with processing and are available on the shelves. In an ideal world, if a holdings record only had suppressed items, the holding record would also not display. Moreover, if all items on all holdings attached to a bibliographic record were suppressed than the bibliographic record would also be suppressed.

Library staff now have better control over process types: placing and removing institution-level work order types using the Change Physical items information job, searching by work order type and excluding a specific work order type from discovery. The work order types were enhanced to streamline workflows, allowing handling in bulk and without scanning items in.
his is especially useful when the library needs to mark a large set of items as unavailable in a way that's reflected in discovery

The change described yesterday does not strike me as having addressed the first point in the OP. We need to be able to suppress from discovery *from* the record editing context.

We would also very much like this feature! Some of the main reasons I see are that we need to have the titles in Alma in order to use the EDI functions and this in turn requires us to properly receive these items. One of our concerns is that it starts to make the patron display in Primo look very clunky with all of the item records and in the case of daily or weekly publications, such as newspapers, it would seem these item records could go on forever. Furthermore, while I have thought about simply setting these so that we only "technically" receive them once a year around renewal time. Then we could simply change the 866 field when we receive/check-in items as we have in the past in our less integrated systems, but that negates the Claims function of Alma that we would very much like to be able to utilize.

The ability to suppress individual items would be invaluable - for us it would be particularly helpful to allow the holdings to remain visible. For periodicals we use only the holdings not items so visible items against a periodical holding are extremely confusing as we have holdings dating back decades and cannot retrospectively create individual items for every volume/issue.

The ability to suppress checking-in rows from Alma via Receive would be invaluable for items where we need to check them in via a subscription record, but then treat them as a monograph.

We would like to support this idea as this would also be helpful for libraries wanting to suppress lost or missing items in Primo. Preferably this option should be configurable in Alma.

Yes please this would be of great help for maintenance of serial materials.
