  1. Bibliographic records editing history

Here is an enhancement request concerning bibliographic records editing history.

Currently, the "View Versions" can only tell the different version of a bib. record. However, this cannot tell logging history of updating/editing the bib. records, e.g. who add/remove a MARC fields/who suppressed/released the bib. record etc. This is no history tab to keep tracking the changes of a bib. record which is unlike other history tab functionality available in other Alma pages, e.g.

    • The PO Line Summary page when editing a PO line
    • The Physical Item Editor page when editing item records
    • The License Terms Details page…

  2. Option to Return Items Without Filling Patron Requests

Items checked in that have patron requests on them are automatically placed on hold shelf and the patron is immediately emailed. Currently Ex Libris allows a delay for the notice for a maximum of 999 minutes, which is often not long enough. Sometimes materials come back that need repair, updates, or to be quarantined. This can take varying amounts of time. It would be ideal if the system would allow us to have the option to check materials in without triggering the hold process, so we may complete any necessary steps we need to before an email is triggered…

  3. Renew resource sharing loans

Currently it seems that only requests with a Received status show the 'request renew' option. This should be extended to requests that have the status 'loaned to patron' as these are more likely to need renewing.

  4. Display name of resource sharing partner on Requests page in My Account

On the "Requests" page in "My Account," for resource sharing requests, display the name of the resource sharing partner once the request has reached the "Shipped Physically" stage. Currently, the "My Account" screen does not indicate the name of the institution that is lending the item (see a screen capture: http://screencast.com/t/aovDseh1). Faculty have requested that the name of the institution be visible in My Account so that they would have an indication of how long it might take for an item to arrive (based on geographic distance).

Ex Libris confirmed via Salesforce case #00221339 that…

  5. Monitor Requests & Item Process Activity Status Filter

Add Activity Status: Rejected to "Monitor Requests & Item Processes"
It would be extremely helpful to have the Activity Status Rejected on the "Monitor Requests & Item Processes" Activity Status Filters. If it could be added as an option with Active, Completed and All, that would remove a ton of extra time and labor for our fulfillment processes.

  6. Limit Resource Sharing Requests per academic year

It would be great if Alma included an overridable limit to the number of resource sharing requests a user could submit for an academic year. It would also be great if limits can be set either on the patron type or user group.

  7. Fulfillment Proxy Should Receive On Hold Shelf notifications for AFN items

    We have found:

---While Fulfillment Proxy users can request both local and AFN items on behalf of the Proxy Sponsor,
---And Fulfillment Proxy and Proxy Sponsor users receive On Hold Shelf notifications for local items,
---Only the Proxy Sponsor receives On Hold Shelf notification emails for AFN items. The Fulfillment Proxy does NOT also receive the letter for AFN items on hold.

  8. Add the option to display call number in all tabs (loans, returns, requests) of the patron account.

I have just seen the added call numbers with the December Release. It is now accessible everywhere except: the requests page of a patron.
It would have been this page where the call numbers are the most useful and the most waited for. Please add it there as well.

  9. RS Lending, Overwrite Renewal Restriction

Rapido participating libraries aren't able to manually change the due date in the Resource Sharing Lending request record or update the "due back" date for the item in process when the borrowing library is RapidILL. When RapidILL libraries contact us as the lender and ask us to renew something, there is literally no way to do this. This is probably true with other broker partners that don't allow renewals. Lending libraries should be able to update/overwrite due dates in Lending request records and manually change the due back date for items in the ILL lending process.

If possible, it would be very useful to be able to use the ‘Release assignment’ function for a batch of requests in the same way in which we can ‘Reject Selected’.

For our workflow, it’s infinitely more likely that we would need to release more than one request at a time instead of rejecting more than one at a time.

  11. Allow the font to be changed/enlarged in the MD Editor

In the MD Editor it is currently impossible to change the font size or type. Could this please be changed? Catalogers expect this functionality, as both Voyager Cataloging and the OCLC Connexion client allow users to change the font size and type. Thank you for considering this request.

  12. Enable 'School' address to be used for Personal Delivery

Currently, only addresses of the 'Home' and 'Office' Address Types can be used for Personal Delivery. Consequently, we can't use Personal Delivery and have to rely on a local workaround instead.

We would like to see 'School' addresses usable for Personal Delivery, with options in the Request Terms of Use to enable us to show only the Address Types that we use and therefore that we want our users to be able to see. E.g. we use 'Home' and 'School' but not 'Office', so we don't want our users to be able to choose that option.

  13. Customize search labels for local authorities

We would like to configure the search labels for local authorities. We have already checked, but the MARC21 fields used for the corresponding local authorities (084, 600, 651) are not shown in the list of search labels. Unfortunately, the support was not able to help us. They said that index codes to search index labels mapping and expanding the index fields is an enhancement request.

  14. Better information design for pop-ups in the New Circ UI

When managing return items in Alma: information in the pop-up on subsequent steps in the process is difficult to read due to a small typeface. Also, not all information is relevant or, strictly speaking, correct (e.g. "item is not on loan" even when there is an active request).

We would like to see a larger font in general, or, if this is not feasible, at least the requester's name in bold typeface. This would add a much needed visual cue for staff processing returns.

The bullet point about the item not being on loan could be supressed as…

  15. Make message that displays when resourcing sharing service not available a modifiable label

Currently most fields on the resource sharing request form can be renamed via the labels interface. However, when a user cannot place a resource sharing request because of fulfillment policies (e.g. their user group or they have exceeded a limit) the message that displays cannot be modified either by ourselves or by support.

Making it a modifiable label would be consistent with other fields and would allow libraries to edit this to, for example, indicate the most common reasons for being unable to access the service and to give contact details for getting support.

  16. Pop-up note when patron has something on the hold shelf

When scanning the patron's barcode or searching for a patron in Manage Patron Services, can a pop-up notification be configured to alert staff that there are items held for the patron on the hold shelf?

Currently, you have to look at the User Notes section on the right hand corner of the screen and it's gray text that does not draw attention. You can also look in the request tab if it is dog-eared but it will display all requests statuses; not just when an item is on shelf ready for pick up.

Since patrons don't always check their…

We would like to determine a daily quota of ISO-ILL Lending requests, like with RapidILL.
Ideally, Alma would automatically reject requests beyond the quota and send them to other ISO Partners.

  18. Override patron physical item request Limit

There is a Max. physical item requests in Patron Limits.
However there doesn't appear to be an ability to allow staff to override this limit, which from time to time they need to do.
I propose that there is a parameter that allows staff with a particular role the ability to override this limit.

  19. Prevent users from submitting borrowing request when no Resource Sharing items are available

Currently, when users click the resource sharing button and there are no items available to loan in the consortia (e.g., there is only one copy in the system and it's checked out or located in a non-lending resource sharing / unavailable location (e.g., reserve), users are shown a message that no items are available, BUT they can still click the 'submit' button on the request.

Would it be possible to prevent users from placing the Resource Sharing Request? I've attached an example of an item that cannot be filled through the resource sharing network because it's on reserve…

The system allows placing a request because it may still be able to fulfill the request by forwarding to a broker system, such as ILLiad. The indication on the form is only about known consortial potential lenders. There may still be an option to fulfill the request via a broker, if you configure one.

  20. Usability issues with the New Circ UI

    1. When processing items from a cart, if they are scanned at Return items and the item is a Ship physically item, the new UI just brings up the item and in small letters says Next Step - System - and the library its to go to. It also says not on loan (which in this case is not helpful, because there is an active request). The system "ships" the item, but doesn't tell you that it did and in order to print the shipping slip staff have to go back to the lending queue and find it.
    2. We believe…
