We need better options for configuring renewals relating to physical item requests and recalls
We would like to be able to disallow renewals on material that is currently checked out when someone else places a request on that material without that being tied to recalls. We would like to use the 'Not Renewable – Item has Request(s)' option in the Block Preferences configuration, which we can't do at the moment because of our current recall configuration (no recalls).

Hi Alison,
I wondered if you had been able to consider setting the Recall on for physical items at institution level, but just not apply a recall period?
I suppose the just in time/just in case side of real-time notification (loan status change) for the 'special copies' (recalled loans) is perhaps not what you want.
Wondering whether this is like:

or whether any aspect of the apparently planned Idea:could also help?
Agree would be good if the request queue block could take effect on renewals, rather than recall seemingly underpinning everything - though [recallled] loan status has its own block preference too.
