  1. Booking request - possibility to configure a blocked period

We are using the booking request for technical equipment which has to be prepared for lending previously. We want that an item can not be booked shorter than 3 days in advance, so the team is able to prepare everything. This ist not configurable yet.

  2. Request status "Pending" and "On Waiting List"

Add statuses to resource sharing borrowing request status field

Is it possible to add two more statuses to the drop-down list for the Request Status field in a resource sharing borrowing request? We would like to add “Pending" and "On Waiting List".

  3. Customize display of fields in Alma Article request form

We would like to display the fields in the Alma article request form in the following order: Journal name, year, volume, issue, pages, article title, article author, and issn - and not in the order these fields are currently hard-coded (e.g. author initials splits volume and issue, and publication date is at the end of the form)

  4. Separate field for borrowing request statuses to display in My Library Account

The borrowing request statuses in Alma are configurable, so that you can change the text that appears for both library staff and the user (in My Library Account).

However, we would like the ability to have a separate field where the status can be configured for the user which affects the display in My Library Account only. This is because we would like to provide detail in these statuses for our staff, that our users do not need to see.

For example, for the borrowing request status 'Request sent to partner' you may want to retain this status for…

  5. Default format when creating a borrowing request manually

When creating a Borrowing request manually within ALMA, even for articles, the default option for Requested Format is Physical. It would make more sense for the default option to be Digital.

  6. Ability to add Request Note during Scan In to Work Order Deparment

When performing Scan In on items to a Work Order Department, we have the ability to Set Status To our congigured status options, but no ability to add a Request Note, as we have if we were creating work order requests for some other Department.
If we want to include a Request Note (to be included on any subsequent transit letters, for example), we then have to go into each entry in Manage In Process Items, locate the request that was created by the Scan In, and input a Request Note.
It would be great if, while setting the…

  7. Add "Request" as a block option in Block Preferences

Currently the Block Preferences have Block options to permit Blocks on Loan and Renewals, but it would be good to include Blocks on Requests on these blocks - specifically Patron Physical Item Requests, but conceivably other requests.

For example is a Patron Limit is defined on Overdues or Recalled overdues, and the limits are exceeded, the relevant Block Preferences are triggered,
    i.e.
    Patron overdue limits has exceeded
    Patron overdue recall limit exceeded

However, the only options on what patron services blocked are Loan and Renewal.
Requests should also be added to the options so that overdues…

  8. Communicate edited AFN request details back to user's library, for inclusion in next ROTA stop.

In our Automated Fulfillment Network (AFN), we are using the "volume" field in the resource sharing request form as the way users can indicate which volume(s) of a multi-volume set they wish to request from another AFN member institution. These requests are title level requests.

(I'll note: We are not currently using the "description field" selection option in the request form, since upon last testing, it treated, for example, a "v. 2" as a different item than a "v.2" or a "V. 2" or a "2" when building the rota, and our consortium has too much variability right…

  9. Ability to edit barcode after receiving borrowing request

Sometimes after receiving a borrowing request, we have a need to change the barcode. This could be because the wrong barcode was scanned in, the barcode is not responsive or another reason. However, there is currently no way to change the barcode in the borrowing request record. Staff can update the item barcode (and we do) however this doesn't affect the original barcode that was scanned in against the borrowing request. We therefore have to add a lot of physical and electronic notes to the front desk staff and to the staff who will be returning the item…

  10. Unclutter index for F3 lookup from field 830 (Series Added Entry - Uniform Title)

F3 lookup from field 830 is used to verify if a series title has been entered into the database in a standardized form, and, if so, to link the bib record to that title . At present, the index searched by F3 contains a mixture of headings from fields 830 and 490 (where the non-standardized series title is entered) and headings with volume numbers (which refer to a part of a series, not the series as a whole). To best serve its purpose, the index looked up from 830 with F3 should contain and display only the fields $a, $p,…

  11. Default digitisation department for digital request types

Ability to set a default digitization department for each digitization request type.

Currently in Leganto, you can set a default digitization department for readings digitization requests. What we would like to do is to set a default digitization department for the patron digitization requests, and staff digitization request types within fulfillment.

This is because when the patron request type is created within Primo, no managing department is set - unlike those same request types when lodged within Alma, where the managing department can be set.
When the request is lodged via Primo, it seems to pick the managing…

  12. More flexibility with Shipped Physically borrowing and lending request statuses

We have situations where we need to either alter the shipping cost of a Lending request that is at status Shipped Physically or cancel/expire a Lending request that is Shipped Physically. However, there is no way to update a request at this status that will update the partner library's system. After a request is Shipped Physically it can only be completed. We would like the ability to continue to make changes that will send through to the partner library after a request is Shipped Physically. Currently we need to do workarounds like creating 'dummy' requests to send money back…

  13. Create request: allow requesting of several different descriptions for a title in one request form

In order to make the request flow more efficient it would be beneficial to have an option to request more than one description for a request.
For example, if one wants to move all the DVDs in a multi-volume collection to the reserves currently he needs to go and create a request for each volume. A better solution would be to allow him to select several different descriptions and then in the background split them ionto separate requests.

  14. Cancellation notices should be sent to requesting staff via email when a temporary move or work order request is cancelled.

Currently, if a temporary move request or work order request is cancelled for any reason, the staff member who initiated the request does not receive a cancellation notice. The user who cancels the request will see the option to notify the requester, but this is extremely misleading because the notification doesn't go anywhere and isn't viewable in the record of a cancelled item. Example: a reserves staff member places a temporary move request for course reserve on an item in another location. The staff member at the other location cannot find the item, and cancels the request with a…

Alma now sends cancelation notices to requesting staff via email when a move or work order request is canceled. Cancelling any non-patron request (such as work orders or move requests) with the ‘Notify User’ checkbox enabled will send the cancelation letter to the request creator, such as the operator who placed it.

  15. RS borrowing request cancellation reason to be available in Analytics

When cancelling a Borrowing Request in Alma using the Change Status option in the Borrowing Request screen, there is the option to specify a Cancellation Reason. We would like the Cancellation Reason selected in the drop-down menu of the Request Cancellation box to be available in Analytics.

This would enable us to analyse reasons for the cancellation of borrowing requests by library staff and potentially identify opportunities for requester education. For example, if ‘copyright issue’ or ‘item already available’ are most frequently selected as the reason for borrowing request cancellation.

  16. Print slips for requests should have copyable Request IDs

Our fulfillment staff are alarmed at the amount of paper that requests (both digitization and physical) generates in the form of print slips. We're always looking for ways to minimize our impact on the environment.

They were able to work out a largely digital-only workflow by "printing" the request slips to PDF and using a laptop on a cart to retrieve the physical items. But they are stuck on having to enter the Request ID into Alma.

Barcode scanners won't scan the barcode for the Request ID from the computer monitor, and even though the Request ID field looks…

  17. New Hold Shelf Request Slip Letter for Physical non-returnable

The current hold shelf request slip letter only handles regular RS requests (books etc), but is not generated when a RS request is created and received as physical non-returnable.

We would like to see an improved functionality to support this material type, so a slip is created as with any other request that are placed on hold shelf. It could either be an improvement to the existing letter, or a new letter entirely.

  18. Borrowing Renewal Workflow (non-ISO): Letter to patron in case of a not accepted Renewal Request

If a Renew Request was accepted, a letter (Ful Borrowing Info letter) is sent to the patron.
However, if a Renew Request was not accepted, no letter is sent to the patron.

That's what we found in the documentation:

  19. Request an item belonging to a bibliographic record for which an item is already on loan to the requesting patron

    Hi,
We have dedicated librarians working on digitizations, and sometimes the item they have on loan and like to scan is not suitable for the digitzation process (notes, underlining etc).
They would then like to request another item. This request will be rejected in Alma due to policy. An item can not be requested when you already have a an item from the same bib record on loan. They would, of course, like to keep the original item on loan until they have checked if other items are more suitable.

You are able to request if the items have…

  20. Converting Borrowing requests into patron physical item requests

We need a better way to convert a borrowing request into a patron physical item request, and then delete the borrowing request.
We often receive borrowing requests from patrons on books which are available in our library, other editions etc. . In those cases we may create a patron physical item request on the local title by clicking "view local", then conduct a search, then place a new request on the local material (note: we here have to type in patron and other data which were already included in the borrowing request), and then go back…

Alma February release now supports converting borrowing requests to patron physical item requests.
When a borrowing request is created and a local resource matches the request, if the operator chooses to create a request, the borrowing request data automatically populates the relevant fields in the request and gives the operator the option to cancel the borrowing request.
