Fine for failing to pick up request
We would like to have a fine automatically applied when a patron fails to pick up a request. The fine should be applied after the last pick-up date has passed if the request has not been picked up or cancelled. It should be possible to determine for which locations/user groups the fine will be applied.
209 votesA new 'Purged request fee' will be configurable for Hold Request TOU, similar to the one that already exists for booking requests. When the Expired Hold task list is used with one of the 'Reshelve', 'Transit' or 'Activate Next' functions then the request TOU will be consulted, and a fee will be created accordingly.

Show partner in lending request list
It would be a nice extension to add a field that shows active partner as in the borrowing request list
This would result in a lot less clicking on the edit button.226 votes -
Improve the e-book purchase request workflow
The purchase request workflow needs to be improved for acqusition of electronic resources.
Currently, you can either approve or reject a purchase request. An approval automatically creates a POL and a standalone portfolio based in the Purchase Request BIB record. Both outcomes are unfortunate when working with e-books. An e-book will usually be ordered on the vendor site (e.g., the ProQuest portal) rather than through an Alma POL. It should be possible to select whether a POL is created. More importantly, we'd like the option, upon approval, to select and activeate a title from among CZ collections instead of…248 votes -
RS - Copy Request Note to Request Cancel Letter as well wheb Converting Borrowing requests into patron physical item requests
The idea of
Converting Borrowing requests into patron physical item requests
has been implemented in 2019 (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/010_2019/Alma_2019_Release_Notes?mon=201902BASE).
Request Note is copied in the Note field of the request. However it would be great that, after a successful 'View local resources' the request note could also be copied to a Note field in the "Ful Cancel Request Letter" automatically received by the user, thus letting the user know more specific info we usually write in the request note. For example, we write there an additional link to the resource we might have found, Having that automatically…

No request cancellation with change of item description
Actually it seems that Alma automatically cancels requests when there is a change of location (not the same FU rules anymore), of item policy (not the same TOU anymore) and a change of description (as this field is to be found in the request form).
For the latter, we would like to have a possibility to choose whether the request should be cancelled.195 votesThe system would not be able to handle a request that links to an unmatching item

Allow each items’ request policy with specific parameters (location, keyword etc.) to be excluded from the title-level request policy
I believe this is an expansion on this idea https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/31119715-title-level-request-and-item-level-request
But we are dealing with ASRS in our case so I thought it might be a little more elaborate.
We would like to have the option to allow each items’ request policy with specific parameters (location, keyword etc.) to be excluded from the title-level request policy.
Currently we have "No requesting" as our general policy that's applied to all of our items except for the ones in ASRS. The problem is that when items with multiple copies and identical call number exist both at open-stack library…

No items available for request due to policy- Show policy violated
When a request fails, an error message reads: "No items available for request due to policy." It would be very helpful if the error message included which policy prevents the request. With that information, I can easily tell the patron what prevents the request or fix a policy problem. Right now, I have to hunt the problem down in the fulfillment and/or configuration modules.

purchase request
Purchase request - assign to function added to drop down menu or in its own tab (after the currant tabs).
It would be good to be able to filter purchase requests by assign to function.

"Request" link when you have ordered a physical book
When you have ordered a physical book (one time order) it would be very helpful to get a Request link available on the Purchase order lines in Review page.
Then you could place a request more quickly. You don't have to search for the book again.
152 votesDear all,
I'd like to update you that this idea was developed and will be part of February Release 2026.
We will add the option to place requests from PO line, in both:
Item level (row action in "Ordered Items" and in "Items in Claim" section)
Title level (PO line action)
Users will see the available request types per user privilege, the same as if the request would be placed from list of items or repository search.
Thanks you,

Show user group in the visit card, borrowing request
When pressing more details(visit card) on patron in a borrowing request we would like to see the user group. This information provide us with information that helps us fulfill the request correctly without searching for the patron elsewhere to gather the information.
93 votesPlease note the Contact Information Pop-Up configuration (configurable from Administration > User Management Configuration > Configuration Menu > General > Contact Information Pop-Up).
This allows you to configure what’s included in the visit card, and allows adding the user group.

Add option "PO Line Type" in "Request attributes"
We think the possibility to choose "Order Line Type" under "Request Attributes" would be helpful when editing a purchase request

Make 'requester' clickable after 'scan in items' step of handling a request
It would be convenient if it was possible to click on the requester after the 'scan in items' step when managing a request.
516 votesWhen scanning in a requested item, the requester name appears. There will be a link to the requester’s user record if the logged in user has priveleges to access the user edit form

NCIP request security
Currently a valid NCIP request from anywhere can retrieve information about a given library's patrons. In order to exploit this, the attacker would need to know server address, institution code, code of the profile for ILL, all of the correct metadata, and the correct message type/formatting. It's not trivial to gather up all that information for a given institution, but much of the information is publicly available (e.g. NCIP message formatting is a public standard), and none of it is generally treated as a secret.
Given the continuously evolving state of library systems security, it would be good to prevent…

Push Requests to ILLiad should include comments in the resource sharing request.
Referring to the new feature in Alma Nov (2019) release, the new feature for pushing resource sharing request to ILLiad via API lacks some important features to make it useful.
Most importantly, comments in the Resource Sharing request did not pass over to ILLiad. This feature exists when using email to push request to ILLiad. It's missing when using API.I would hope you could improve using API to push requests to ILLiad and make it feature parity using email method.
58 votesAso of the May 2022 release, the request note is also sent to ILLiad when a borowing request is exported. See 'ILLiad Borrowing Request Notes' on https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/2022/Alma_2022_Release_Notes?mon=202205BASE

Ability to change the Requester in the Purchase Request form
Several new features were added to the Purchase Request workflow with the May and June 2018 releases.
One of these has meant a regression for our staff and negatively impacts the library services. In the past, any staff could create purchase requests in Alma, on behalf of academic staff, researchers and students. The patron name could be selected as Requester. This was particularly helpful to Circulation Desk operators and managers. Now, it is not possible anymore and the purchase request creator is automatically processed as Requester (unless the user has the new Purchase Request Operator or Manager…
26 votesAs of December release it is possible to allow an Alma user that does not have the Purchase Request Operator or Manager role to create a purchase request and change the requester of the purchase request to another user. The user can search for other users from the purchase request pickup field and can set the user with the auto complete option. This option is disabled by default. To enable it, contact Ex Libris Support.

Customize "Create Request" Drop Down Menu
It'll be great if we could customize the language or the order of the "create request" drop down menu. For example, we aren't going to offer booking or digitization requests. It'll be more effective if "patron physical request item" was the default value or if we could word it slightly different so that our staff could easily identify it as a hold request.

Ability to sort Resource Sharing borrowing requests and lending requests by Request Date
Currently, the 'Created borrowing requests' list is sorted alphabetically by title. It would be really useful, for when we have a large number of requests, to be able to also sort it by request date.
233 votesYou can now sort the resource sharing task lists, either ascending or descending by title, creation date, update date, or last interest date.

Lending: Edit Request Type in Manage Fulfillment Options
We sometimes need to change the Request Type from Physical to Digital and vice versa, after we have placed the request via Management Fulfillment Options. As there is no edit option, we have to place a new request and then delete the redundant option.

Allow resource sharing request labels to be deleted
When you're adding a request label to a resource sharing request in the new Alma resource sharing reqeust list interface, you see a list of all the labels you have previously added to requests. Unfortunately, it's not possible to remove labels from this list, so you always see every label you've ever created, including labels with typos and labels that were created by mistake. We would like to be able to remove specific labels from this label list.

RS Borrowing Requests – changing format before sending request
We would like the ability to change the format of a request before sending it to a Partner – e.g. from book/book chapter to journal/journal article or vice versa.
As our patrons don’t always know, or pay attention, to the actual source format, they often submit their requests with the wrong format, which our staff would like to fix before sending to Partners.
197 votesThe ‘Change RS Requests Type’ cloud app does just that – supports changing the request type for resource sharing requests from ‘book request’ to ‘article request’ and vice versa
