  1. Allow same-day booking with "days" booking resolution.

    We are testing the use of "days" booking resolution, as opposed to minutes. We notice that when patrons try to place a same-day request, they get the error: "Date must be in the future." This probably makes sense for some institutions, especially without a "lead-time" setting to provide buffer time. However, we have a collection of AV equipment that students can book same-day.

    This already works fine when staff make a same-day booking request in Alma using "day" resolution; the error only occurs when patrons try to do the same in Primo. I'm not sure if the necessary change…

  2. Add "All" tab to Patron Services screen & 2-column view ("All x" & "X of this session") to Loan and Return tabs

    Patron Services area is too granular -- too many potential places to look for (or not see) information about various transactions, especially during busy times or high-stress interactions, especially for student workers. Information that patrons or staff need can too easily be missed.

    An "All" tab (ahead of the "Loans" tab) may assist -- it could list ALL recent transactions in a table (including loans, returns, requests, and network activity) with the type of transaction indicated in one column.

    Likewise, a two-column view in the Loans tab and/or the Returns tab could reduce the risk of a staff member…

  3. Enable separate authority control for LC children's subject headings (6xx second indicator 1).

    I have been told that the LC children's subject headings have been merged into the LC adult headings, and that therefore the only way to control those headings is to change the existing 2nd indicator 1 to 0. This is non-standard MARC coding per MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data, which specifies second indicator 1 for LC subject headings for children's literature. It is my understanding that other libraries requested this change, so the activation of a separate LC children's subject headings thesaurus should be an option for those libraries that wish to continue standard MARC coding practice.

  4. A more precise reloan limit embargo

    We wish to apply the reloan limit to avoid 24h items same user reloan, but actually the rule block loans on same title and same material type, wich has this side effect: a user return a item with loan policy 1 month (with no reloan limit rule applied) and he cannot reloan because the item is requested by another user, so he wants to loan the other item with a loan policy of 24h (with reloan limit rule applied) available but the loan is blocked anyway: we don't want this, so it is possibile to refine the same title/same…

  5. Add ability to abort jobs when they are for information only, such as when exporting data or running overlap analysis

    Currently it is more common than not for jobs in Alma to be missing an option to Abort them under Monitor Jobs > Running.
    This is a highly frustrating situation where the only option is to open a Support case to request for the job to be aborted, and wait days for response.
    In the meantime, staff work is completely halted for this while we wait for Support.

    It is understandable that the Abort option is not present in cases where there could be negative impact on records, such as initiating an job update to change the records.

  6. Assessed Fines Letter - Ability to Send a Letter Notifying Users That Fines Have Been Assessed

    We need the ability to notify patrons at the point that fines are assessed on their library accounts. Some libraries use the Borrowing Activity Letter for this purpose, but we find that this approach causes confusion for our library patrons. The solution to these problems is to send a letter when fines are actually assessed on user accounts. The letter would be triggered either by the renewal of items resulting in fines or by the return of items resulting in fines.   7. Request for Populating "Item Location" in Network Activity Loan List

    I am writing regarding the blank column in the Network Activity section.

    For institutions within a fulfillment network, loans belonging to another institution are visible in the Network Activity section. However, in the Loans list, the "Item Location" column is blank.

    If the “Item Location” column were also populated with the correct values, it would be much easier to manage differences in return policies that are dependent on the item's location.

    When a user enters a DOI into the Alma Resource Sharing form we would like to see the form use the DOI to auto-populate the rest of the metadata for the user.
    This is a functionality we have had our users requesting.

  10. Add permanent location code or name to fulfillment analytics

    Under Alma Analytics we want to request that Ex Libris add the field of permanent location code or name to the fulfillment area of analytics. We need to be able to grab the count of items in a library and how many of those items (held) in that library have circulated by any mean (resource sharing, digitization, loan, etc.). The current table allows us to pull what circulation desk they circulated from. That is not entirely accurate as we allow items to be delivered and circulated from any circulation desk on campus.   11. Support file exchange via Odyssey

    While we are able to send and receive files with other Alma, Rapido, and RapidILL libraries via RapidX, the resource sharing world is much larger than these three systems. While ExLibris talks about supporting interoperability, we are not yet able to receive files using the file sharing method dominant among our peers, even though its platform is open source. Odyssey is a major player in the library secure file exchange world, and while we stress to our partners that they need to send non-returnables to us via other methods, often folks forget, deliver via Odyssey, and assume the request is…

  12. Allow institutions to configure their own Packaged PO approval rules

    Could we please be provided with an option to disable or configure the auto approval rules of POs containing non 'Purchase/Purchase no Letter' POLs.

  13. Add renewal count to the fulfillment subject area of Analytics

    Please add renewal count (the number of renewals allowed for a certain item policy and material type) to the Fulfillment subject area of Analytics.

    Doing so will allow staff to create a Circulation Matrix from analytics that fully details circulation privileges for certain patron groups, material types, item policies, etc. Circulation staff frequently get phone calls from patrons requesting such information.

    The attached Circulation Matrix is a handy way to answer circulation policy questions from patrons, except when they ask how many renewals they are allowed.

  14. Add an option for annual token entry to track "Requests to publish" in multi-year transformative agreements

    Currently there are only two options for tracking requests to publish for Transformative Agreements: Unlimited or Number of Tokens. However, for a multi-year agreement with a set number of tokens per calendar year, there is no great way to track this within the Agreement Definitions on an ongoing basis. If we could get the option to track the number of requests to publish for multiple time periods within the same agreement, that would be beneficial for those with multi-year TAs.

  15. Ability to create new forms with custom fields

    We would like to suggest the allowance to create new forms to support library functions such as accessing the closed stack books, or doing book paging between internal libraries. These may require special fields that are only native to the libraries and are not in the existing forms.

    Also, adding extra custom fields for additional information into the existing forms (like purchase request ( can provide more functionality, for example, the priority ranking of a request.

  17. Alma Analytics: Usage Data Subject Area

    In Alma Design Analytics, add "Fund Ledger" to the folders in the "Usage Data" Subject Area. Collections staff want to be able to look up titles they have ordered out of their "Fund Ledger Codes" and see how much they have been used, especially TotalItemRequests. The decimal-point breakdowns of usage in the "Cost Usage" folder in the "E-Inventory" Subject Area are too confusing/convoluted, and only use UniqueTitle/ItemRequests.

  18. Correct inaccurate "Loan Status" in Alma

    If a patron requests a title that has multiple items when all available items are in loan,
    all items will not be renewaled, because the request is pending.

    In "My Library" the remark is "cannot renewal", but at that time,
    in Alma,the Loan status is shown as "Normal" for some items and "Recalled" for others.
    All items of the title should be shown as "Recalled".

    We suggent to reflect the request data accuratelly on the Loan Status in Alma.

  19. Time Limit on Waive for Replacement Fees/Fines

    Feature Requested:
    The auto-waive functionality upon item return and ability to set the % to be refunded are wonderful features. To fully meet our needs though we need the % refunded to change after x period of time to a different % to be refunded.

    One possible solution could be to add a parameter that could be set to specify a time limit threshold for auto-waiving of replacement fees of a lost item upon return.

    Use Case:
    After a physical item has been lost for a year we have already bought a replacement and do not want to refund…

  20. Consistently include Use Cases for new features listed in Release Notes

    We'd like to see a use case or rationale for all Release Notes, in addition to the description of the new functionality and any necessary documentation. This could be something you could link to from the Release description, in the interest of brevity. While these are sometimes provided, their inclusion is currently sporadic.

    Often while reviewing Release Notes with colleagues we find ourselves wondering exactly what problem is being solved and why someone would want to enable or adopt a new functionality. Including the use case or rationale for each enhancement could increase buy-in and understanding for a wider user…
