  1. Modify locations by batch

We need to update some or all of our location fulfillment Unit of all of our library.
Unfortunately, the Update Location API does not support bulk updates for multiple locations in a single request. Each API call is limited to a single location code.
We'd like to be able to make batch changes to our libraries' reader service units.

  2. SIS Import/Synchronise: improve invalid character handling

When the Alma SIS Import/Synchronise job runs, if any of the files contain an invalid XML character, the entire job is aborted. The consequence of this is that user data held in Alma might be out-of-date, depending on whether it has recently changed in central systems. I assume this behaviour occurs because one of the initial steps when the import runs is to parse the input files as a whole, rather than parsing each user record individually.

This Ideas Exchange ticket requests that the SIS job is improved so that the job does not abort, but instead skips over…

  3. Add block information box on patron’s account landing page

Currently, when accessing a patron’s account through the “Manage Patron Services” tab, the patron’s account landing page does not show the block information (a pop-up does show up but with incomplete information, as recorded in a SF case). In order to access block information, one has to click on the patron’s name, and then navigate to the block tab.
The suggested idea would be that a box containing block information be added in the left-hand column of the patron’s account information, under the box containing loans, returns, requests and fines and fees information. Block types could be described with…

  4. A "not needed before" date for requests

As well as "not needed after" a particular date, it would be helpful if we could distinguish the requests that are "not needed before" a particular date.

We have closed stack and offsite requesting and it would help to organise the requests if we could order requests that are not required today, tomorrow or by a particular date. It would be especially helpful to PRINT this date in the request slip so that it is obvious to staff fetching items and their supervisors delegating work.

  5. Overdues

An alert function when items have gone overdue. Currently the requester will get sent overdue e-mails, but the library is not notified. When you have thousands of requests it is imposisble to search through.

  6. When cancelling requests from the pick list, display a warning message

On the pick list, requests are displayed at a title level. This means it is possible that multiple requests are present for the title. When clicking 'cancel request' from the title, all requests are cancelled, not only the first one. Since this behaviour occurs even when requests are from different requesters, for different volumes or different digitisations, we would like a warning message to appear before deleting multiple requests from this screen.

  7. Increase number of loans, requests etc. shown in Alma

We want to increase the number of records to show in all of the lists in the system to 50. Current maximum is 20.

Loan limits for patrons are 50 items and it would be helpful to see all 50 items in the loan screen at once, without having to consult the other pages.

    Completed  ·  Dana Moshkovits responded

As of November release you can now select the number of results appearing on any list of results (previously, only a few lists had this feature). For some lists, the range is between 10 and 50 results. For other lists, it is between 20 and 100 results.

  9. API UPDATE Single Tag in the record (PATCH)

Currently if I want to update a Bibliographic record I have to use a "PUT" command, but using this replace all tag in the record. So you have to pay attention if you don't put a tag this will be lost.
So we would like to have the possibility to update only one tag in the bibliographic record for example using another command, in Rest API usually is used a PATCH command that allow to change a single element of the resource. So I ask to implement a real UPDATE command (PATCH for example) so we could change single or…

  10. Allow us to create duplicate borrowing requests via the Users API

The SUNY system has created an ILLiad addon that automatically converts ILLiad borrowing requests into either Alma borrowing requests or Alma hold requests (depending on whether the requested item is locally available). We're using the Users API to create these requests in Alma. We've figured out how to override the Alma function that blocks the creation of duplicate hold requests when necessary, but we there's no way for us to override the function that blocks the creation of duplicate borrowing requests. Please add this feature to the Users API.

  11. Monitor Requests & Item Processes - Library Independence

It is possible to cancel processes at libraries that you do not have any role at using the Monitor Requests & Item Processes screen. A cancel button appears next to every request.

Patron physical item requests are correctly only visible based on your role but other processes such as work orders are visible and cancellable by all staff with access to the Monitor Requests & Item Processes page.

Visibility is not a problem as the data isn't private, but the ability to cancel a process should be limited by the scope of the role.

  12. View actually linked bib records in 'Browse bibliographic headings'

When using the Browse bibliographic headings feature, it is not possible to diplay the list of bib records that are ACTUALLY linked to one authority. We can only see the bib records that match with the authority.
On the contrary, when using the F3 index, Alma provides an extra menu in the 'View' option of a bibliographic heading where one can choose between records that match the authority or records that are linked to the authority.
This Idea requests that the same feature be added in the Browse bib heading tool.

  13. Sending On Hold Shelf Letter

When scanning a barcode in Fullfilment - Checkout/Checkin – Returns items
    • Printing the Ful Resource Request Slip Letter
    • Change of document status in “Hold shelf”

But no print On Hold Shelf Letter

The operator can place the request on the reservation shelf but the reader is not notified

Can the action “Returns items trigger the printing of the letter “On Hold Shelf Letter” ?

  14. LENDING BEING PROCESSED

We would like Digital Lending Requests to be automatically updated to Being Processed once the slip has been printed - in the same that way Physical Lending Requests are updated to Being Processed once a hold has been placed via Manage Fulfillment Options. At the moment they have status Created Lending Request - which means we have to change the status manually.

  15. Ability to change item's Material Type while in process

We would like the ability to change an item's Material Type while the item is in process. Currently, Alma does not allow this unless the item is in place. If the item is in process, we get the error message, "The item is not in place and there are requests registered for this item. Please handle the requests before moving or updating this item." Incorrect material type is part of the reason the item was sent to processing, so it seems strange the change cannot be made while the item is there.

  16. Add fulfilment, Public and Internal Notes to the Excel spreadsheets for physical item sets

When a Physical Item set of records is exported into a spreadsheet via Tools > Excel, the fields Fulfilment Note, Public Note and Internal Notes 1, 2 and 3 are noticeably absent from the columns of data offered in that spreadsheet.

Those fields frequently play a major role in determining the action required by staff for the given item upon its return, as they’re used for requests for reclassification, relegation, etc. It would constitute a sizeable labour-saving fix to be able to generate/save/print off a ready list of all such messages, alphabetically sortable by contents, from the spreadsheet for…

  17. Add fields to specifiy the work order type or workorder status to the print slip for 'manage in process items'

The print slip for items in the Fulfillment > Manage in process items uses the ReceivingSlipLetter.

This is the workflow suggested by trainers for things like repairs or other technical work order flows.
The letter does not have the XML fields that would reflect work order type or work order status.

Development says this is an enhancement request, as they designed this letter for acquisitions work orders (case 00725539)

  18. Default options for tasks should be configurable by the library

I have a support case open (Case 06893601) that requests the ability to change the default option for “In-House Use”. This support case and others like it could be addressed by allowing the library to configure whether an action is the default.
A search of the Idea Exchange for "change default" results in a lengthy list from all areas, the cumulative effect of which clearly illustrates the need for this change.

    A few examples:
    Reading Room Final Check-in
Warning message to confirm Check-In for Shipped Items
    Release remaining encumbrance
Metadata Editor Templates to suppress from discovery and Don't publish…

  19. User information in Print slip report

We are currently using the print slip report for our click and collect service but for us it is missing some vital user information around the requester. We would like to see the primary identifier in the report. We tried to deal with this in analytics but we also require the item barcode and this caused problems where there are multiple items under a title. The print slip report contains all the information (including the multiple barcodes) we need except for more extensive user information to help staff deal with this off site. The name is not enough, particularly…

  20. Ability to run a job on items already marked lost.

We would like the ability to run a job on lost items from other institutions, to receive a special block. This block restricts the user from placing anymore request and also (do to an app we built) blocks their electronic access. It is quite effective in getting the patron to return items the institution would then be billed for.

The problem is a block placed on the item prior to it going lost is removed when the item is marked lost and we are not able to run a job on the lost items that would actually apply the block.…
