  1. Overdue notifications to be sent also on days after closed days

We noticed that if closed days are configured, and a closed day is between the due date of a loan and the planned day on which the first reminder should be sent, the job does not generate a notification on that day but waits until the next one.
This leads to misunderstanding on the patrons side, because the grace period is not always identical and can vary depending on possible closed days.
We described the issue in case nr. 05301818 (old SF nr.: 00953477) and were told that this is the expected behaviour. The Product manager decided that when there's…

  2. Electronic Collection Activation - Ability to specify Inventory groups

I would like to request there be an option to specify inventory groups when activating an electronic collection from the community zone. We actively share our Alma with another institution and utilize inventory network groups. When activating an community zone collection, there is currently no option to specify inventory group(s) the collection (or FT service) belongs to . This causes those portfolios to appear in ALL primo views until we can specify groups AFTER the activation process is finished.

  3. make location type „unavailable“ functional: items in these locations should be shown as unavailable in Alma and Primo

We need the possibility to show items as unavailable in Primo without creating requests (work orders) for them.

    Our use cases are
    - items which have been restituted (via a provenance research project) and are no longer in the library
    - items which are blocked for usage for years
    - items which are not usable for certain reasons
All of these have to be shown in the discovery interface, although users won't get them for a long time or at all.

Now, all of these items have a "green" availability status in Primo and we struggle to put information…

  4. RS - show more fields (such as Note) for Partner when using Add partner

When selecting a Partner in Resource Sharing Borrowing Request , one can only see 4 fields (see attachment) for the Partner. It would be useful if other fields, such as Note , might be enabled. There are many criteria and information helpful when slecting a partner, and in the real world they are often saved in the Note field, and this field should be visible at the step of selecting the partner.

  5. Default pickup location in direct requesting

In Direct Requesting, have the default pickup location be the PATRON'S home library OR have the default be BLANK. Right now, the default is the ITEM'S location. If the default is accepted, the patron may have to travel some distance to pick up the item.

“A new customer parameter, ful_network_default_pickup_inst, controls the initial value of the pickup institution field in a fulfillment network request form.

*If the parameter’s value is set to blank, the initial value of the pickup institution is blank.

*If the parameter’s value is set to patron, the initial value is set to the patron’s institution, meaning that linked account users will show the patron’s source institution.

*If the parameter’s value is set to local, the initial value is set to the local institution, as it has been in the past. This is the default."

  6. Allow Fulfillment Network Member (AFN) to lend resources, but not serve as a physical pick-up location for other network members' patrons

Since some institutions have buildings with perpetual restricted access, we have some AFN fulfillment network member libraries that are willing to send their materials to another AFN member library for pick-up, but, for all functional purposes, they are closed to the public. They don't want patrons from the other AFN institutions to visit their library in person, and thus, don't want patrons from another AFN institution to select their library as a pick-up location.

This need has been heightened during the pandemic, with more institutions closed to the public.

  7. Allow libraries to pick which resource sharing requests statuses appear in the Tasks widget

Not all resource sharing requests that require manual processing (ex. requests in the Mediated Patron Renewal status) appear in the Tasks widget. This can results in requests to not be processed in a timely manner, and it also limits the usefulness of the Tasks widget. We would like the option to configure which resource sharing statuses are shows in the Tasks widget.

  9. Show orders and requests in repository search regardless of role

Every staff member should be able to see if there are orders or requests for a title regardless of their roles.
It's important e.g. for staff at info/circulations desks to see why a title without items is found - as well as for receiving operators to see if there are any patron physical item requests...

Still, of course, one should only be able to edit orders or requests with the respective privilege.

  10. More flexibility needed for display of locations

Our users complain that it is difficult to find the locations of items and that too many clicks are needed to find out if an item is available.
This is the most problematic in the Locations display for journals (and monographs with the item description field filled in).

    More specificly, issues are:
    - The shelf number is not indicated clearly enough
    - Users search for items in the library that are not on shelf because they don’t click through to the single holdings display to check the availability (in the "journal display") or because the availability indication like e.g. (1…

  11. Direct link access from a citation to a reading list

    User Story/Case

A streamlined workflow is required to provide direct access to reading lists from a citation. The current workflow is overly complicated and requires to much clicking.

    Description
When digitised files are ready to be be attached to a reading list, staff must first access the relevant citation by navigating to Alma > Fulfilment > Course Reserves > Citations, then find the citation, attach the file and mark the citation as ‘Completed'.

The next step in the workflow is to access the Reading list which requires staff to navigate to Alma > Fulfilment > Course Reserves > Reading List…

  12. Create a job to send a notification letter to users when their expiry date is near so they can request to renew their library user account

The option to notify users whose accounts have or will expire of their options for renewing their library user account would help us to stay engaged with users whose library user account will expire soon (or has recently expired). Users who want to continue using their library account can renew it prior to the expiry date, thus reducing any barriers to accessing their account and using library materials.

A notification letter could be created to support this type of messaging. It would be great if a job could be scheduled to send to users whose expiry date is upcoming. It…

  13. Add additional status type of "Deferred" for Purchase Requests

There are currently only 3 Statuses for Purchase Requests: "Approved", "In Review" and "Rejected". We would like to have an additional Status of Deferred for Purchase Requests that we cannot or do not want to order at the present time, but may want to order later. Right now if we do not want to order a request immediately they stay in the "In Review" status and it is impossible to tell which requests we have already evaluated so we end up doing extra work. We don't want to "Reject" these requests because we want to order…

  14. Allow prioritization of item requests based on library proximity and capacity

In our consortium, several libraries are linked through relationships. However, these libraries differ in distance, staffing levels, and delivery times.
We would like Alma to provide a way to prioritize the fulfillment of requests based on configurable criteria such as library proximity, staff availability, or delivery speed (as actual transit time rules are not efficient enough).
This enhancement would enable the system to route requests for multiple available items to the most suitable library — ideally the closest or best staffed — thereby streamlining daily operations and improving service efficiency across the consortium.

  15. Add a copy (bcc) to the library when cancel request

When a cancellation is made, a message is sent to the user notifying them, but a copy of this message does not reach any of the libraries involved. I suggest adding a BCC for the library.

    HI,

It is possible to send system emails with blind carbon copies (BCC) for any preconfigured email address. All letter tables will contain the new field, bcc_address. This can be used to send copies of letters to the relevant library’s email address.

  16. Establish system to ensure complete coverage of LC classifications

Alma Analytics includes LC Classification code data, but frequently valid classification codes come up as "Unknown." Ex Libris currently has no reliable way of keeping up with changes in LC classification. They rely upon the "Library of Congress Classification Outline", which is not complete. They will add classifications upon customer request, though this process takes months or years and puts significant burden upon institutions. Ex Libris should develop a system to reliably update its LC classification coverage. This could take the form of e.g. establishing its own access to Classification Web, subscribing to LC updates, and/or setting up some…

  17. Enable additional types of requests via API

The API documentation for the Create User Requests endpoint notes that "is currently NOT possible to create GENERALDIGITIZATION, MOVE or WORKORDER request." Enabling this functionality would facilitate batch processing of items for various workflows.

  18. List of Home Delivery Request to print labels and inform courier company

We manage a big number of home delivery requests. Alma does not allow you to create a list of loans of home delivery to print labels and send the list to the courier company.

The only way to do it is the day after by Analytics or developing a custom solution using webhooks and users API, to have it the same day.

It is necessary to make a list of patrons name, address, zip code, city, telephone and email address to print labels and create a csv file to be imported to the courier company software.

  19. Ability to report on Note (5XX) fields - bibliographic details folder/dimension

We request that the Bibliographic Details dimension in Alma Analytics have an entry added for Notes, wherever the Subject Area has "Bibliographic Details" presented. This Notes attribute should include all 5XX fields and subfields in the bib record. The data should use a separator (e.g., ;) to identify the information from different and repeated 5XX fields. This is useful information for libraries for reporting purposes.

  20. quick cataloging

    Quick Cataloging

Since Resources>>Create Inventory>>Add Physical Item has been adapted for use in scenarios where additional cataloging is neither required nor desired (e.g. brief bibs for equipment), it would be nice to include a tick box (similar to the Suppress from Discovery) to indicate that additional cataloging is required. When the box is checked, a work order will be triggered for additional cataloging and the pick from shelf request will be created. When the box is not checked, the record and item will be created with no work order or request. Additionally, it might be nice to have a…
