1. Hold active until (collection) date

   currently the time a requested book is held for a borrower does not show unless you go into the Active holds lists. It would be helpful if this was shown when the book is checked in and on the notice that automatically goes to the printer (which we put in the book until the book is collected)

2. queue digitization

   Patron Digitisation Request and Queue.
   Could it be possible to provide a mechanism whereby you can supply a patron digitisation request where that request may be not the next request in the queue so as to expedite the fulfillment of those requests. As the queue contains both physical holds and patron digitisation, there is often a window of opportunity in which to scan from the print and supply whilst the item is on the hold shelf for user who is 0 in the queue or prior to the item arriving on the holdshelf if there is a lag set

3. Allow truncated resource sharing renewals

   When a renewal is requested by a user through Primo, the system appears to automatically ask for a renewal period that equals the loan period which is theoretically fine except that if they request the renewal late enough in their loan it can bump up against the renewal limit or it can bump against the Due Date/Max Renewal Date in the lending side TOU. The main problem here is it doesn't truncate. For example, if you can't get the full 6 week renewal, it doesn't give you ANY renewal at all, it just says no. So it's possible you could have 4 weeks, but since you can't have 6 you can't have any.
   Our preference would be that a renewal request through Primo should grant as much of a renewal as possible based on the max renew date, and the borrowing side TOU. Truncate the renewal as needed.

4. Enable 1 Alma Print Daemon to Serve Multiple Printers

   I am thankful that the Alma Printouts Queue and Print Daemon exists. The free email service bundled with our printers has proven to be unreliable at times.

   However it is unfortunate that 1 PC can only run 1 instance of the Print Daemon software. So to map multiple Alma printers to multiple local printers requires running the Daemon on multiple servers.

   The enhancement I am requesting is for this software to be able to map multiple Alma printers each to their own separate local printer. For example

   • Alma Printer Main Circ Desk -> Local Printer BLDGAFLR2-7
   • Alma Printer Rare Book Circ Desk -> Local Printer BLDGBFLR1-3 and so on.

   One instance of Printer Daemon serving all our queue to printer mapping.

5. Add a SUSHI account column in the usage statistics missing data page

   Currently, a lot of publishers have chosen SilverChair as their platform, e.g. Duke University Press, Geological Society of America, American Medical Association, etc. Their COUNTER reports all have SilverChair as the platform. In the Alma Usage statistics Missing Data page, their harvesting are all together under SilverChair. One day, when one or more of the publishers have problem harvesting, we would not know just by looking at the Missing Data page, because other publishers may have harvested data under SilverChair.

   Requesting Ex Libris to add a SUSHI account column so usage data with the same platform will be differentiated by the SUSHI accounts. As a result, we would be able to see which publisher has problems harvesting the data.

6. Add multiple Central catalog integration profile with the enable/disable button

   The background:

   To add the backup CALIS path (or host) to the integration profile. When the primary CALIS host failed, the library admin can switch the profile quickly instead of modifying the configuration directly to avoid any misconfig.

   Request:

   It will pop up an error when adding another or multiple Central catalog integration profile to Alma. So we would suggest to add multiple Central catalog integration profile with the enable/disable button, so we could choose and enable the backup host quickly when the primaiy host failed.

7. Alma as a linked entity User Interface

   The Alma backend comprises a large bunch of linked entities of different types like title, holding, request, item, report, ... However, on the user interface side theses links and references often are only displayed implicitly. We propose to make these references explicit. Example: The list of requests shown in "Monitor Requests and Item Processes" display a MMS-ID as well as (in certain cases) an Item ID. In order to view the respective title or item entity one has to copy the ID and paste it into the title, respectivly item search. We propose to add a "one click link" for any entity ID displayed by Alma. Further examples:

   • Active and Expired Hold shelf: Item entities as well as title entities should be linked.
   • Lending requests: Item entity shoul be linked.
   • Process reports: Any entity IDs should link their respective entities.
   • Analytics: Any entity ID within an arbitrary analysis should get a direct link to their respective entity within the Alma User Interface.

   In addition in order to becom a linked entity User Interface, Alma must provide a means to share entities with other. Deep linking funktionality is a overdue feature, and, of course a prerequisite for linking Alma entities from within Analytics.

   Last but not least: The usage of book cover thumbnails is inconsistent within Alma. We propose to provide book cover Thumbnails whereever a reference to a title entity is given (explicitly or implicitly).

8. Renewing resource sharing requests in Lending

   Resource Sharing lending and renewals.
   Currently you can only change the date in the lending side by searching for the barcode in physical items and clicking edit, scrolling down to the date box allows you to update. This information is carried across into the catalogue but not on the lending resource page, we can find no way to manually change here either. It would be great if once the date has been changed in one Resource Sharing area it is displayed in all.

9. Adding the borrower code stats to the patron detailstable in the fullfiment subject area

   The fullfiment subject area contains several tables related to the readers who borrowed the document including the "patron details" and "borrower details" tables. According to the documentation the data stored in the patron detail table are the characteristics of the reader at the time of the transaction. The "borrower details" table stores the characteristics of the reader at the time of the request.
   It would be useful if the patron statistical codes were stored in the "patron details" table so that they can be historized.
   Indeed, like many other libraries, we use these statistics to identify the academic department of the reader, his or her level of study and other information that allows us to make a detailed analysis of the use of our collections. However, this information evolves throughout the schooling or career of our readers. In addition, administrative re-enrolments take place throughout the academic year and the basic reports are therefore difficult to produce.
   The addition of statistical codes to the patron details table would allow us to follow the usage of our collections according to the statistical codes of our readers.

    It would be helpful to have replacement costs field available in the physical items table from within the Requests subject area. Would allow for easier reporting on values of missing and lost stock etc.

11. ensure that when 'po_line_description_update_upon_bib_change' enabled, subfield A does not get overwritten by subfield L in 022

    Sharing description from our Cataloger, CH:

    We believe the following describes a defect.

    Support indicates it is an enhancement request and suggests we propose on Idea Exchange.

    Background:
    1) We turned on the ‘polinedescriptionupdateuponbibchange’ enhancement in the sandbox.
    2) The enhancement overwrote the $$l instead of pulling in the $$a from 022 – this behavior describes a defect
    None of the following 3 options allow us to properly use the ‘polinedescriptionupdateuponbibchange’ enhancement:
    1. Ideally, we want to enable the ‘polinedescriptionupdateuponbibchange’ function to auto-sync changes in the bib record to the POL bib description. This saves our Cataloging team from an additional step to manually edit the POL record.
    However, we are unable to use this Alma function at all because when we do, it auto-reverts the POL bib desc ISSN from $$a to $$l.

    1. Less ideal, we use the Reload Bib Data button to sync changes in the POL bib desc to match the bib record (a more manual approach—it means our Cataloging team needs to click the ‘Reload Bib Data’ button).
       However, again, we are unable to use this function because this option also changes the ISSN from $$a to $$l. Another Alma feature we are not able to use.

    2. Least ideal – Cataloging team manually updates every field in POL bib desc to match bib record updates. This is the most work for the Cataloging team, as it does not allow them to use the 2 previous enhancements in Alma to make their jobs easier. With this feature enabled, if the Cataloging team manually types anything into the ISSN field in the POL bib description, the system will auto-revert to $$l and override manual changes. Once the Cataloging team makes any change to the ISSN field in the POL bib description, they CANNOT revert it back to $$a. It's as though they lost control of that field entirely. This feels to our organization to be a major glitch - why doesn't the system allow the user to make and save a MANUAL change to a field?

12. Configure return (pop-up) notes

    Dear,

    New Alma UI: when you now return an item that is requested, you get a pop-up with an overload of notes, most of which are not useful and which make you search quite a bit for the information you are actually looking for.
    In any case, (see attachment) those last two notes are redundant. The first two are also redundant, but perhaps that second note is useful in case it concerns a lost book and no fine is generated at the time of return.
    Can ExLibris allows us to configure the display of these notes? (Similar to the scan-in notes config option...?)

13. Resolvable URL that links to the ALMA record

    From doing a search outside of ALMA, I have an MMS_id for a record I want to look at. (E.g. 9913920213502836 )

    I want to be able to share this record page with a colleague, or store a pointer to the record in a document or spreadsheet.

    The most useful approach would be to use a URL, where I could display the MMSid as the text, while pointing to the record as the URL ( e.g. www.myalmadomain/mng/action/showrecord.do?mms_id=9913920213502836 )

    Because of how the page is built, there doesn’t appear to be a single url I can use to resolve the record page - I can only see the ‘parent’ URL: https://nlnz-a.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/mng/action/home.do?mode=ajax#

    Alma ticket case #00668253 refers - closed as enhancement request:

    "Unfortunately, differently from Primo, Alma does not provide like a permanent link or direct link to a record. Users need to authenticate to Alma, then search MMS ID and etc."

14. Allow multiple levels of nesting for functions in Dynamic URLs

    I am requesting the ability to nest the same or different functions multiple times (at least five, but preferably many more).

    Use Case: Sometimes it is necessary to replace multiple strings in a dynamic URL.

    For example, I need to replace three different characters for Nexis Uni:
    1) Replace + with a space
    2) Replace & with an empty string (effectively removing &s)
    3) Replace : with an empty string (effectively removing :s)

    This is what the dynamic URL would look like:

    Currently, if that dynamic URL is entered in Alma, Alma returns an error stating, "REPLACE syntax error REPLACE(, Function requires 3 parameters." Support confirmed that the dynamic URL functions do not currently allow nesting of the same function. I have not tested all of the variations, so I want to ensure that this request also allows for multi-level nesting of different functions.

15. Export normalized call numbers for requested items in the "Print Slip Report" feature

    When the "Print Slip Report" feature in Fulfillment > Resource Requests > Pick From Shelf is exported into a spreadsheet, LC call numbers are included—but normalized call numbers are not. This leads to less efficiency in pulling requested items (e.g., size designations sort under "Q" for "Quarto," LC class numbers of differing length sort improperly). Please add a normalized call number column to the output for proper sorting by call number.

17. Implement the ability to display when the Network Activity tab has content

    When you look up a patron in Fulfillment, if there's content under the Loans, Returns, or Requests tab, the top right corner of the tab is turned down. For schools that are part of a consortium/fulfillment network and have a Network Activity tab in addition to Loans, Returns, and Requests, the corner of the Network Activity tab is never turned down, even if the patron has items checked out from another institution in the network. (Please see attached screen shot.)

    If it's possible to enable a blue turned-down corner for the Network Activity tab in order to indicate content, it would be more intuitive and helpful for schools that are part of fulfillment networks. Thank you for considering this idea.

18. From my assigned purchase requests, allow selection of multiple requests to be assigned to someone. Doing it line by line is cumbersome.

19. Facets on reading lists page do not behave as expected

    When selecting 'up to a week ago' or 'up to three days ago' from the facets on the Reading Lists page, I expect to see everything modified from today up to either a week ago or up to three days ago. Instead, selecting 'up to three days ago' excludes lists modified today or yesterday. Selecting 'up to a week ago,' excludes lists modified today, yesterday, and up to three days ago. In response to my Salesforce case, Ex Libris Support said this is how the facets are designed to work and to submit an enhancement request.

20. Run Update BLDSS Requests job more frequently/at better times

    The Update BLDSS Requests job runs at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., which is effectively once a day. It needs to run more frequently and at more sensible times, i.e. 2 + times during the working day, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., so that Event Type updates from the BL are more frequent and timely.

    Thank you for your idea, the functionality is available as of the March release:
    You may now send an asynchronous resource sharing request to the British Library using the BLDSS API without a successful locate result. If a match is unsuccessful because the locate process fails or if the locate process was not run, the request can now be sent.
