NCIP request security
Currently a valid NCIP request from anywhere can retrieve information about a given library's patrons. In order to exploit this, the attacker would need to know server address, institution code, code of the profile for ILL, all of the correct metadata, and the correct message type/formatting. It's not trivial to gather up all that information for a given institution, but much of the information is publicly available (e.g. NCIP message formatting is a public standard), and none of it is generally treated as a secret.
Given the continuously evolving state of library systems security, it would be good to prevent…

Create a "sticky note" widget for individualized staff notes.
It would be helpful to have a "sticky note" type widget available on the Alma homepage so that staff could record personalized ideas/instructions/reminders to themselves about Alma-specific work.
The simplest version could just be a plain text box where staff could add/delete text as desired. A fancier version could allow for multiple notes to be created, storing them each with a title and create date and listing them all in the Widget.
If we get really crazy there could be a setting to enable the user to choose whether the note is a public note (for all other Alma users…

Synchronizing XSL templates with external systems
When customizing XSL letter templates, it would be helpful to be able to import/export these to/from Alma. This could be done for example by webDAV. This should make it possible to use an external version control system, like git. The templates are many and complex, and version control would be useful for managing revisions. This would also enable syncing to templates between production and sandbox environments.
80 votesIn order to support this, RESTful APIs to manage the XSL templates would be added to our set of APIs for configuration related entities

Producing the shipping forms by supplier
Each time a request has been marked "Ship" or "Return", the request details will be collected on a "Shipping Form" (by supplier).
When ready to ship a package -with returned/requested books- to another library, "print form" will:
1. Produce a full detailed form to include with the box
2. Will start a new form for future package.80 votes -
Sorting Authority Task List
It would be highly helpful to have a sorting filter in the Authority Task List that would allow us to sort the list by Fields (e.g. 100's,600's, 700's, 830's,): Personal Names, Corporations/Conferences, Subject, Title, Uniform Titles, and Series. This way work loads can be created and assigned for these specific areas. As things are now, all items are mixed together and it takes far too much time to find/create a single list.
80 votesWe will consider addressing the requirement as part of the Authority Control Task List enhanced UX in the Alma roadmap: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Materials/010Roadmap/Alma_Roadmap_Highlights_-_January_2021/Metadata_Management#Authority_Control_Task_List_-_enhanced_UX

Add warning for active title-level-requests when relinking or deleting holding records or items
When relinking holdings and items to new bib records or deleting holdings or items, requests can get lost. This is the case if they are on the titel level instead of on the item level.
(Cf. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/Physical_Resource_Management/015_Managing_Physical_Resources#Relinking_Items_to_Another_Bibliographic_Record)Staff with the role Cataloger Extended or similar roles which allow for relinking and deleting of records, holdings, and items, would benefit from a warning that an active request is present on the title level (e.g. a pop-up) before a holding record or item is relinked or deleted.

More options to limit access to private patron information for student employees
Some libraries hire students as part-time staff at the circulation desks or helpdesks. Per the institution or library policies, for privacy reasons, student employees may not be allowed to search for Alma users or to view the contact details of staff members or other student users.
Currently, access to contact details and searching for users are by default possible to any Alma user with Fulfillment roles. Disabling the ALLOW-USERS-SEARCH privilege can prevent access to users list in Manage Patron Services and auto-complete search in same page, but it does not affect the persistent search for users or access to Admin…

E-Collections: Read-only access to Alma for other institutions
We wish to provide read-only access to our Alma instance to other institutions in our consortium and vice versa so that we can compare setup more efficiently. The permissions need to be quite restrictive and prohibit access to financial, patron data, etc. but allow us to view E-Collection, Service and Portfolio level screens.
When comparing set-up of our e-collections we are spending a lot of time discussing via email and sharing screen shots, which is not as efficient as being able to go in with a view privilege and compare in real-time.

New type of block : booking
Currently the Block Preferences in Alma have Block options to permit Blocks on :
· Block types 01 et 02= Loan and renewals
· Block type 03= Loan and renewals and request
· Block type 04 = Resource sharing
· Block type 05 = Request
It would be good to include a type of block for Booking only. It would allow us to block Booking without blocking other services for a patron.
Right now libraries can’t choose to sanction a booking abuse without blocking every other service. It is too strong a sanction for some users.
Best regards,
Nathalie Darbon

Additional functionality for new Born Digital POL types
As a Legal Deposit library we process physical and born digital material in the same way through Acquisitions; creating bib records (often pre-publication), POLs and claiming if we don't receive material in the expected timeframe. We need the new Digital POLs to work as close to the Physical workflow as possible.
The new born digital workflow assumes that we have the file in hand and can attach the representation when we create the POL. That is not always the case for us as we create a lot of POLs pre-publication as well as for material where we then need to…

Add Material Type Mapping to Physical Inventory Import Profile
As a Copy-Cataloger I receive batch files of bibliographic records with physical inventory from a variety of vendors and some of these vendors send a variety of formats in the same file. These files contain bibliographic records with a material type of Book, Map, DVD-ROM, Issue, etc. With our current Import Profile that we use, the Library field, Location field, Barcode field, and Item policy field can be mapped with MARC21 local field. But this is not possible for Material type. So when we import this large file with multiple material types they are being imported with the Material type…

Configuring External Library names for display in Primo
In Alma it is already possible to enter external location names for display in Primo. We request this option for library names, too. Currently, the configured library name is exposed to the user in the Primo Getit tab as well as to the staff in several places in the Alma user interface, f.ex. the „currently at“ pickup list and the persistent menu. We request the possibility to configure an internal name for display in Alma (for example in abreviated form) and and external name for display in the Primo Get it tab.

Ability to Toggle the Missing with Fulfillment Role
Currently, the only way to mark an item missing with a fulfillment role is from a request. However, circulation staff often need to mark items missing that do not have requests. As far as I can tell, it requires the Physical Inventory Operator role to toggle the missing status from the item record. I would like staff to be able to toggle the missing status without having permission to edit/add records. Marking something missing is typically a fulfillment activity though and not always related to a request.

Field to add "Charges" in the price.
We need a field that allows us to add "Charges" in vendor record or in the POL, now these only allow discounts.
Nowadays we have to assign this charge manually in the POL's list price.

search filters and better results display in the "search external resources" function
When we are searching WorldCat for a record to match a newly-ordered title, we often find duplicate records. The current search results display makes it difficult and time-consuming to choose the best record.
The external resources search would be much improved if we could limit search results by the language of cataloging (040 |b) and format. This would save us having to wade through multiple vendor records that aren't even in our local language of cataloging, and multiple records for resources in a format other than the one we are looking for.
It would save us a lot of time…

Modifying a partner after recieving a borrowing request should be possible
In the SNLP workflow the partner changes from the own partner code to the partner who ships the request automatically. Therefore most of the requests have the correct partner when the item arrives at the library.
So most of the time there is no need to modify a partner and the staff's attention to this attribute is not as high as it is to other attributes of the request. If we observe this AFTER receiving the item, there is no possibility to do so.
Because we don't know to which partner we have to send back the item after it…78 votes -
Position sensitive NRs (Normalization Rules) - ISBD punctuation
ISBD punctuation is determined by the following subfield.
For example:
In 245 the subfield preceding $$b must end in one of the following:
1. space + colon
2. space + semicolon
3. space + Arabic semicolon (if your cataloging language is Arabic)
4. space + equal signThe NR syntax currently does not offer any straightforward solution for correcting ISBD punctuation.
We request the development of an NR function that will suffix the subfield with a string based on the subfield that follows it, including the case in which a subfield is the last one.
I think it would be…

Make citation information mandatory in digitization requests
The patron form for digitization does not make page numbers, or any citation information mandatory. This would be helpful for patrons who do not provide complete information.

Add a F3 functionality in the dropdown menu of the MDE
In the Metadata Editor, F3 is used in order to look up to the authority headings from a specific bib heading. This is a crucial feature of the MDE, yet it is not available in the dropdown menus. As our librarians sometimes work with tablets, with no function keys, this lack is troublesome. Adding the look up functionality in the dropdown menus would be a welcome improvement of the MDE.
