    Implement auto holdings (autoholding, auto load, autoload) for IEEE, as is already available for ProQuest, Elsevier, Ovid, and Springer.

  2. Provide multiple hold pickup options within a single Alma library

    We'd like to provide, within a single Alma library, the following pickup location/delivery options to our users: locker, circulation desk, or mail to home. At present, this is only possible through the creation of additional libraries.

  3. Limit in house use entry through Scan in Items

    Alma records In House use via "Scan in Items" module and whenever item that is not on loan checked in. I would like to see a setting that will allow "In House use" to be registered only by Scan in Items. There are numerous occasions where staff may check in items but it is necessarily "in house use" by patrons.

  4. Add block action for patron digitization requests in User Block Definitions

    The configurable blocked actions for user blocks in Alma are:
    01 – loan
    02 – loan, renew
    03 – loan, renew, hold

    It is therefore possible to configure that blocked users are not allowed to place requests at all.

    We propose a distinction between the different request types in blocked actions.

    Blocked users should be able to place hold requests, as it can be checked at the latest at the time of loaning whether there is a block, and users then have to take care of the unblocking (e.g. by paying fees) in order to be able to loan the…

  5. Add a way to tell if an item/holding has 3 or more open requests

    It would be nice to know if a given item or holding has 3 or more open request. It would signal the acquisition that another copy of the title would be helpful. This could be achived for example if the queue number is searchable, either in analytics or in the request search.

  6. Ability to suppress licenses from discovery

    Sometimes, licenses have confidentiality clauses, so we can't show them in Primo, but right now, it is an all or nothing prospect. it would be great if a checkbox on the record could suppress a confidential license from showing up in Discovery.

  7. Field for academic year in user profile

    It would be good if there were a field in the user's profile that states the user's academic year, e.g., YEAR 1, YEAR 2, YEAR 3, etc.

  8. Browsing Dewey in MD Editor

    We noticed that in Metadata editor the browsing in the 676 - Dewey field isn't available: we would like add the feature to scroll the lists from other records, as happens for the 6xx fields (subjects) and 7xx (authors).

  9. Timeout should be configurable

    Timeout should be configurable to allow for longer timeout than 60 min. This would be helpful for staff who work for example in areas like information services where you need to use Alma several times during the day but not continuously

    Dear community,

    Thanks for raising this idea.

    The conceptual solution which is currently being evaluated, is to allow the user to choose/control the desired timeout session period from 4 options (in minutes) - 60 (current, and default) , 90, 120 or 150.

    This reflects a potential increase of up to 250% in session timeout period.

  10. Make Paying Fines/Fees-Waiving Fines/Fees a separate User Role in Alma and remove them from other roles

    The auditors at our institution require us to limit the number of staff members who have this ability. We had to ask Ex Libris to remove PAYFINESFEES PRIVILEGE and WAIVEFINESFEES_PRIVILEGE from a large number of roles, most of which didn't even relate to fulfillment responsibilities during our implementation.

    Our Student Assistants and Operators at the Circulation Desks should not have these privileges. But they did before we had them removed.

    Approving Manager and Operator, Producer Manager, User Manager, Editor Full, Assessing Manager and Operator, Arranging Operator and Manager are all roles that I don't understand, and…

  11. Add a linking job for mass linking of NZ records to IZ

    Currently the only way to use records from NZ in an IZ is to search them in the NZ and perform an action like "order" or "link" on every single record one by one. There are, however, situations where an IZ wants to use a bulk of records. For this purpose we need a possibility to link records in bulk and create inventory for the linked records.

  12. Make Alma able to deactivate the security of the RFID tags when lending items from other IZs

    In a network circulation context, Alma cannot currently disable the security of the RFID tag when lending the document from another institution zone (hold shel request on items of other IZs). We would like Alma to be able to deactivate the security of items of other IZs. Currently the deactivation must be done "manually" in a third party software.

  13. Ability to assign electronic activation tasks in the POL

    Electronic resources are automatically added to the Electronic Resource Activation Task List page upon ordering. The current workflow requires someone with the permission of Repository Manager to manually review the activation task list in the unassigned tab (which might have hundreds of portfolios and databases at any given time) to decide whom to assign a task.

    I propose a different model or workflow: Allow Acquisitions staff to assign a task while creating the purchase order line.

    Add checkboxes for the single positions at the invoice details in the invoice lines tab.
    We create all of our invoices manually. Usually we don’t use the pro rata checkbox and four invoice lines for shipment, discount, overhead and insurance are created automatically.

    In most cases not all invoice lines are needed and we delete the redundant lines manually. Therefore it would be easier to have a checkbox for choosing these lines and to be able to delete all of them at once instead of choosing and confirming the deletion of each line separately.

  16. Booking, transit and preview time

    We use the booking functionality in Alma for our Audio/Video-equipment. The equipment is administrated by our media production department, and is configured as a library in Alma.

    The AV-library is the only place on campus patrons can check out and return AV-items. Apart from that, the AV-library also supports delivery to a library at a different campus (Kjeller).

    • The transit time between the AV-library and Kjeller is set to 48 hours.
    • The preview time on the equipment booking is set to one hour.

    When scanning an item due for pick-up at Kjeller within the next 48…

  17. Search possibilities as "Received X weeks ago" or "Available X weeks ago"

    Libraries sometimes wish to build logical sets from constantly changing data. For example, a logical set of items received in the last 30 days or a logical set of ebook portfolios activated in the last 15 days. The "Receiving date" (Physical items) and "Activation Date" (Electronic portfolios) search indexes only accept a specific date (selectable from a calendar) and only allow the operators "Equals", "Not Equals", "Before", "After", "Is Empty", and "Is Not Empty".   18. Create Analytics field for self check loans and returns

    Currently to identify self check stats for loans and returns in Analytics you either need to do one of the following:

    1. Create separate Circulation Desks for self checks
    2. If the operator Primary Identifier field is "None" assume the loan or return was a self check one

    Neither of these workarounds work if you choose to delete Library staff records from Alma and not retain full statistics in Analytics or if the Circulation Desks are deleted (which can happen if a Library is closed)

  19. Ability to store & track VPAT® documents

    As part of the procurement or licensing process, many libraries may request that a vendor provide a VPAT® (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) in order to indicate their compliance with Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act. It would be desirable if functionality could be developed somewhere in Alma that would allow libraries to track & report whether/when a VPAT was requested and received, which VPAT version was used, and local notes related to accessibility testing.

  20. Add a field for Library URL to the Library details that can be used in Letters.

    Hello,

    Most of libraries have a separate website with all relevant information for patrons. In Patron facing letters in Alma it would be useful to have a link to this library website.

    Currently, there is no dedicated field in library details configuration where such link could be stored and then passed to the letters.

    Please add a dedicated field for library website in library details configuration and feed this field to the Alma Letters.
