List of possible CZ electronic collection types are inadequate
According to Alma documentation and the answer from ticket 08300011 CZ electronic collection types can be characterised as:
Abstract & Index
Book
Journal
Mixed
OPAC
Web ServiceOur library has linked to CZ collections which only have streaming video, or streaming audio portolios. We think it would be better if there were more content types available to CZ collections to better reflect their contents

scan in items: Define the value of the "Register in-house use" blank by default
The value of the ‘Register In-House Use’ box is saved from session to session. This causes errors by staff who forget to activate or deactivate it as appropriate, so that statistical data may not be reliable.
We would like to propose that this field could be set to a default value (e.g. blank) and that staff should activate the tick when registering in-house use.100 votes -
linked-data-powered sets and collections
TL;DR: populate existing ALMA sets / collections infrastructure using retrieval of a list of LCCNs from an external URL to allow linked-data-powered sets and collections.
Problem
We've all seen the book displays that most physical libraries have in their high-traffic areas. These might be works by the in-house press, topical events, anniversaries of author's birth, etc, etc.
In the digital space, there are shallow-functionality RSS feeds and then a yawning gap out to things that are typically called 'digital exhibitions' which are resource-intensive glossy displays.
ALMA Collections can be used for digital exhibitions, but populating them is labour-intensive and slow.

Request for Improvement of the Physical Item Receiving Function in the Library
Currently in Alma, when librarians receive physical items that have been ordered and have arrived at the library, items with a patron physical item request and items without a patron physical item request must be processed separately.
It would be helpful to have a feature that allows librarians to receive both types of physical items—those with a patron physical item request and those without—together in a single receiving workflow.

Create an All Open Access CZ Collection for Elsevier ScienceDirect Journals
Could a CZ collection be created for Elsevier ScienceDirect journals that are completely open access leaving out hybrid journals (or what Elsevier terms as "contains open access" or "subscribed & complimentary"). That information can be found on their web site: https://www-sciencedirect-com.proxy.binghamton.edu/browse/journals-and-books?contentType=JL&accessType=openAccess
If a title becomes open access after a specific date, that information can be found on the journals "All issues" page (see attached showing that Advances in Nutrition became OA "31st December 2022").

Make Cataloger notes searchable in Alma and/or Analytics.
It would be helpful if the data in the Cataloger notes within bibliographic records were searchable, possibly through Advanced search, keyword search, or even within Analytics. This would allow catalogers to easily gather these notes and organize them for specific resources related to projects that require review.

Support "History" of "Interested User" in POL
The "Interested Users" area of POLs in Alma currently doesn't have any "History" support; if an operator attempts to determine when or how changes were made to a POL's interested user or the notification settings for an interested user, there is no history to track changes to those fields. Having "History" support for this field would be helpful for maintaining consistency within the POL and for troubleshooting when unexpected changes are made.

Establish system to ensure complete coverage of LC classifications
Alma Analytics includes LC Classification code data, but frequently valid classification codes come up as "Unknown." Ex Libris currently has no reliable way of keeping up with changes in LC classification. They rely upon the "Library of Congress Classification Outline", which is not complete. They will add classifications upon customer request, though this process takes months or years and puts significant burden upon institutions. Ex Libris should develop a system to reliably update its LC classification coverage. This could take the form of e.g. establishing its own access to Classification Web, subscribing to LC updates, and/or setting up some alternative…

Create a way of marking borrowing requests visually for Staff Attention
Sometimes we receive borrowing requests that need special staff attention when the item is received or returned. Examples include:
- When the other library is sending an invoice inside the item we are receiving
- When the other library requests special handling in the use of the loaned item
- When an item needs to be returned in special packaging or with insurance
- When an item needs to be returned with accompanying IFLA vouchers
- When an item has loose pieces which need to be checked for before return
- When the item received in a request did not come from the active partner

New option to 'Linking level' menu for Electronic service
I would like to add a new option to the 'Linking level' dropdown menu in the Electronic Service Editor (e.g. Working paper)
This feature will enable you to benefit when searching in Discovery using the 'Resource Type' filter.12 votes -

Enable creation of individual patron blocks for loans of specific material types
If an institution needs to prohibit an individual user from borrowing a particular type of resource temporarily, e.g. placing a temporary ban on laptop loans for that person, then there is no way to block them from borrowing items of that specific material type without preventing them from borrowing everything else as well. As a result, we are unable to apply blocks in exceptional circumstances, such as with our laptop loans service, because the block would be disproportionate and prevent the user borrowing any physical items at all. The only workaround would be to have a ‘Blocked’ user group configured…

Use same format for all dates in Analytics
When combining different subject areas (I use the button “Combine results based on union, intersection, and difference operations”, and I am using union) I find that it is not always possible to combine dates.
For example: The date "Event Start Date"."Event Start Time" from Physical Items Historical Events cannot be combined with "Loan Date"."Loan Date" from Fulfillment.
This is due to differences in date formats.
It's hard to predict which parts of Analytics a library would want to combine. So I suggest that the date formats be standardised across Analytics6 votes -
FUND / Ledger facet missing from PO Line user interface
All PO Lines has multiple facets but FUND or Ledger is not one of them.
Funds, both allocated & summary, are fundamental to purchasing and we'd like to be able to filter the PO Line display by these variables.
Please add a facet in the All PO Lines user interface for FUND.

Job “Withdraw Physical items” and holding of related records
With the “Withdraw Physical items” job, Alma does not provide the option of preventing the deletion of holding and bibliographic records when there are Holding of related record. We would like an additional option “Delete holdings; delete bibliographic records that have no other holdings and that have no Holding of related records”.

Allow the keyword function to search up permanent call numbers directly
If I enter a call number into the keyword search box, it will often show no results despite showing results when the search category is switched to "permanent call number." Inputting an OCLC into the keyword search consistently yields accurate results, so why can't it do so with call numbers?

Make Existing Record Primary When Merging via Search Resources
When merging records through Alma’s Search Resources, make the existing Alma record the Primary and the incoming external record the Secondary.
Currently, when bringing in external records, Import and Integration Profiles treat the existing Alma record as Primary, but Search Resources makes the external record Primary. This inconsistency forces libraries to maintain two opposing sets of merge rules, depending on how the record enters Alma.
Making the Alma record Primary in Search Resources would align the behavior with other workflows. This could be configurable or at least opt-in so libraries can adjust their merge rule settings in the External Search…

Display personal metadata editor history of opened/edited records
Currently in Alma's All Titles search you can see a list of records you have previous looked at, but it would be helpful in the metadata editor if you had a list of records that you have opened recently. Even a list of 5-10 would helpful.

Enable us to display items in an "Unavailable" location type as Unavailable in Primo
We need the ability to show items that are assigned to a location with Type = UNAVAILBLE to show as unavailable in Primo
The primary use cases that prompt this idea are:
1. A library is closed for renovation and the items are inaccessible to staff and patrons, but the items must still be discoverable so that patrons can be directed to Resource Sharing in Primo.
2. Portions of a collection are temporarily inaccessible to staff and patrons, and the items are assigned to a temp location, but must still be discoverable so that patrons can be redirected to Resource…272 votesDear colleagues,
Thank you for raising this idea.
This was part of the CERV cycle in 2025, but did not make it to the final list.
During the analysis, 3 possible approaches were discussed, each has a different estimation and effort:
Option 1: New dedicated process type
- It will be possible to mark specific items as "unavailable", similarly to the way it is possible to mark them as "missing"
- Items marked as "unavailable" will be considered as "not in place"
- The new "unavailable" option will appear as a possible process type in all the places where there is a list of process types, including configuration options such as Fulfillment Unit Rules
Option 2: Mark a location as "unavailable"
- It will be possible to mark a location as "unavailable"
- All items in this location will be considered as "not in place"
- The difference from option 1 is that when an item…

create a new item status for items "lost on shelves"
Currently items can be marked as Missing (if not found in the Library), or Lost (if long overdue on user's account). Missing books are regularly checked on, but some of them cannot be tracked within a reasonable time for users, and the search becomes more of an in-house task than fulfilment of an immediate customer need.
However, it is not possible to distinguish between items marked missing relatively recently and still actively searched for (e.g. because we could not find them immediately when requested by users), and those which were not found after several checks, for a long time, even…5 votes
