  1. Buffer periods for Last Interest Date for Borrowing Requests

ISSUE: Quite a few of our borrowing requests are getting cancelled automatically by Alma, because people are setting a Last interest date of the same day or the next day. Unrealistic expectations are being created by the Last Interest Date. Yet, staff find it useful to know the Last Interest Date for borrowing requests where the patron indicates a date some time into the future.

LOCATION: ILL request form, patron facing (e.g. in Primo VE).

SOLUTION: Allow buffer periods to be implemented on the Last Interest Date. For example, a library may choose to create a 10 day buffer for…

  3. Improve Library Only Note field in reading lists

We would like to propose the addition of the Library-only note field in Alma to the panel on the right side of the reading list page. We would like to propose a modification to the Library Type note in Alma to improve workflow efficiency. We would like this note to appear in the Reading List Information panel or the panel where the 'view in Leganto' link can be found, rather than in the Notes tab. This should be editable directly from the panel to allow Library staff to add comments or further information related to a list (e.g. summary of…

  4. Consistent use of first ISBN in MARC field 020 for electronic resources in Alma

Right now which ISBN is displayed/taken for export relating to e-resources is rather inconsistent in Alma:

.) In the results list of an All Titles search the first ISBN of MARC field 020 is displayed and subsequently used for Excel export.
.) In the results list of an Electronic Portfolio search the second ISBN of MARC field 020 is displayed (if there is one) and subsequently used for Excel export.
.) In the portfolio list of an electronic collection the second ISBN of MARC field 020 is displayed (if there is one).
.) On the portfolio tab of the Electronic…

  5. Enable local extensions on MARC 79X and 89X

OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards sets out tags 79X (790-799) and 89X (896-899) as valid for local uses. These ranges should be available for network zone members to use as well. Adopting these ranges will allow catalogers to directly adapt records from WorldCat into a network and add local extensions without having to remap from the OCLC-supported field to a field in Alma, such as a 9XX.

Catalogers primarily use these fields to enter details such as authors with local affiliations (e.g., current faculty members), dissertation advisors or members of dissertation committees, and the college within the institution supervising the…

  6. royal society of chemistry gold 2026

Please advise on the ETA on when the Royal Society of Chemistry Gold 2026 package will be loaded into the Community Zone for activation. The vendor rep I am in communication with has mentioned that they are currently in progress to send EXL their 2026 files. It would be great to know when to expect it to be available for activation. Thank you!

  7. Add 245 subfield n to the letter XML node for title

Many letters display the name of the title using the node notificationdata / physitem_display / title. This field contains a subset of subfields from the MARC field 245 to display the title of the work.

We receive complains from our users regarding missing book title number in mostly textbooks. The missing number is available in the MARC field 245 subfield n and is an important part of the title. For example:
    245 10 |a Prisma Physik |n 1
    245 10 |a Deutsch |n Drei
    245 00 |a Prisma |n 1
    245 10 |a <<Die>> Sprachstarken |n 2 |b…

  8. Any change to a role, or addition of a role, or replacement of a role, should be called out in release notes in a separate (or additional) s

Any change to a role, or addition of a role, or replacement of a role, should be called out in release notes in a separate (or additional) section of the release notes.

The reason for this need: Larger institutions have large numbers of Alma using staff to manage, oftentimes including student workers. It is important for Alma system administrators to have prompt awareness of changes to roles in order to make any necessary changes to staff accounts, profiles, etc. in order to maintain the security and integrity of patron data, cataloging data, norm rules, and the like.

    Having changes of…

  9. User note: prevent overwritten via API when the check box is set option

We would like to add a functionality (check box) in the admin Alma user record UI that allows preventing a manually added USER NOTES field from being overwritten by the API when the check box is set.

This functionality will allow Alma admins to store some manual information in a USER NOTES without being overwritten via API when a record is being updated automatically

  10. Customization on the background color of universal viewer (for 3D Objects)

Some 3D objects with dark textures are poorly displayed with universal viewer (as the background color was default as "Black").
Enhancing the background color customization feature in the universal viewer would help improve the visual experience.

  11. Make default filters removeable or customizable

The current version of Alma (as of 8/25) automatically filters out loans, and even clicking the "loans" tab in the fulfillment center will not display them; to see a patron's loans, you have to clear a filter. I have no idea why Alma would want to hide basic loan information from users in the first place, much less make it a barrier that has to be manually cleared every time a patron account comes up. And of all the myriad things that can be customized in Alma... this isn't one of them. Please make this filter removeable or modifiable. It's…

  12. NOT erasing Return Items page every time we leave it

Every time we leave the Return Items page, it erases the list of returned books. This is disastrous for us, so we would like to keep the list of all books returned during the day (or since logging in until logging out).
If someone benefits from erasing the list, just give us a choice whether we want it erased or not.

Now let me explain why it is crucial for our work:
We work in quite small public library where Patrons can move around freely and pick books from the shelves on their own. Often they return books first and…

  13. Support "History" of "Interested User" in POL

The "Interested Users" area of POLs in Alma currently doesn't have any "History" support; if an operator attempts to determine when or how changes were made to a POL's interested user or the notification settings for an interested user, there is no history to track changes to those fields. Having "History" support for this field would be helpful for maintaining consistency within the POL and for troubleshooting when unexpected changes are made.

  14. Display the item process type in the Po line

In some cases it is important to know the process type of the item, more specifically whether it is on loan. In a purchase order line, it is currently only possible to see the availability of the item under 'Ordered Items', not the process type. The green dot under ‘Availability’ means whether the item has been received and not if it is actually available on the shelf, which is misleading. In order to see the process type, this must be done in the item record or in a title search. It would be very useful to know from the PO…

  15. Update Customer Linking Parameters in Bulk via E-Collection Quick Update Cloud App

Please add the ability to update customer linking parameters (such as the Gale location ID) in bulk via the E-Collection Quick Update Cloud App.

As Ex Libris moves away from centrally configuring linking parameters for different interfaces, it would save so much time to be able to do this in bulk via the cloud app.

  16. Vendors management

"The process that sends purchase requests to vendors sometimes does not work correctly.

The error is only detected when the vendor notifies you that they have not received the purchase request.

To check the error, you must go to the Job (scheduled task).

Shouldn't there be a way in Alma to report these failures more visibly?"

  17. Add Option to Handle Multi-Matches Automatically Based on Brief Level

Alma’s import profile functionality currently includes the option "Do not override/merge a record with lower brief version", which ensures that an incoming record is not loaded if its brief level is lower than that of the matched record in Alma.

We would like to see this functionality extended to enable handling multi-matches automatically. Currently, when an incoming record matches multiple existing records in Alma, the import process still flags this as an multi-match issue, even if all matched records in Alma have a higher brief level than the incoming record. These cases must then be reviewed and resolved manually by…

  18. Improvements for the MDEs left pane

The left pane in the MDE is a very helpful tool for navigation in daily business. With the following improvements it could be even more helpful:
    - Customization of the display of the different databases in all the tabs (records/templates/rules): it would be very helpful if one could select only the databases that are necessary for the daily work for display (example: I have in the record tab 14 different databases of which I only need 4, and one that I need is only accessible through the drop down menu); if a selection is not possible it would be helpful…

  19. create a new item status for items "lost on shelves"

Currently items can be marked as Missing (if not found in the Library), or Lost (if long overdue on user's account). Missing books are regularly checked on, but some of them cannot be tracked within a reasonable time for users, and the search becomes more of an in-house task than fulfilment of an immediate customer need.
However, it is not possible to distinguish between items marked missing relatively recently and still actively searched for (e.g. because we could not find them immediately when requested by users), and those which were not found after several checks, for a long time, even…

  20. Ex Libris completes required documentation (SAQ-D) for Alma-integration with credit card payment systems

As an Access Services Department Head, I supervise workflows that include payment by credit card. We would very much like to connect Alma to our university approved payment system, but our Division of IT advises that even platforms that redirect to or from pages where credit card information is entered must be PCI (payment card industry) compliant. To meet this requirement, Ex Libris must complete a Self Assessment Questionnaire D (SAQ-D) and Attestation of Compliance for Merchants (https://listings.pcisecuritystandards.org/documents/SAQ_D_v3_Merchant.pdf). Until we have this documentation in hand, we cannot link directly from Alma to our payment system, worsening the user…
