  1. Daytime options for automated Alma notice jobs which involve patron notifications

We recently had a call from a distressed parent who had been woken by a late night notification due to an Alma notice being sent to them.

Whilst appreciating that jobs are scheduled later to catch lower utilization of the system, would it be possible to have some options for all jobs which feature patron-facing notifications to be run between 9.00am and 9.00pm e.g. Courtesy Notices and Handle Loan Renewals job.

  2. Digitization Slips to automatically print

We would like for the digitization slips to automatically print upon scan in of an item (like the slips print for Hold requests).

At the moment it can be manually printed but we would like an opt in to automatically print.

    Our workflow is:

Item placed on pick list, collected from shelf.
    Item Scan In
    If a hold, slip printed
If a digitization, no slip, even if automatic print is ticked yes.

As we have a number of sections within the library using the workflow, it is easier to print the slip and have all details on it rather than…

  3. Avoid to “hold shelf” for the expired patron.

Alma provides materials for “hold shelf” to patron, whose ID has expired, if he requested before his expiration date.
We want to avoid to “hold shelf” for the expired patron.

  4. Time to reshelve not applicable if there is a request

After testing the Time to reshelve, we found that if an item is requested, the delay for reshelve is not applicable.
It make sense in a way that the on hold shelf is not really a reshelve, but we would like to take into account the delay for reshelve for requested items too. In case of quarantaine.

  5. Please add Analytics to the Ex Libris System Status page

We appreciate the emails about service interruptions with Analytics however these notices can get lost in deluge of email. It would be optimal to have quick visual besides the little green informational "i" on whether Alma and Primo Analytics are nominal on https://status.exlibrisgroup.com/

  6. API conf/sets - Always add member/@link

Currently not all calls to conf/sets will return member-elements with links. This will make a call to e. g. electronic portfolios close to useless, as there is no API-call that can be done with the portfolio's ID only.

Ceterum censeo I don't think that this is an enhancement, but Case 00874282 was not interpreted as this being a bug.

  7. Borrowing activity letter should exclude patrons with no loans

When running a borrowing activity letter job, it will send an e-mail to patrons with no loans. Only fees. That is not neccessary. Would be nice to have a possibility to exclude those customers.

  8. Add Day or Week embargo option

When setting Coverage Information, current embargo options are to enter a number of months or years. Some publishers have a 2 week, or 14 day embargo; we cannot enter embargo information for these. Adding a Day and/or Week option would allow this information to be added.

  9. Possibility for turning off Auto-Assigning in task list when opening or editing an item without completing the task in the Alma Config.

When working in several different task-lists in Alma, you are automatically assigned to any Item that you open and/or edit and exit out of without completing the task. This applies to items in the Purchase Request, Invoices (in Review) and Electronic Activation Task list and more.

This may be perfectly logical for certain institutions' workflows, but for others it may be cumbersome to have this across all task lists.

It would be great to have the ability to turn this auto-assigning on or off for the different task lists in the Alma Configuration so that people could open/edit and close…

  10. Download COUNTER data as tabular data in addition to JSON

Alma does a good job in harvesting COUNTER data via SUSHI, and Alma Analytics is a good place for analysis. Sometimes, it is necessary to work with the data in a program such as Excel. Currently, we can only download the COUNTER reports that Alma harvests as a JSON file. It is a process to convert this file into a spreadsheet format (CSV, XLSX, TSV, etc.).

I suggest that Alma offer the option to download the COUNTER reports in tabular format, as a CSV or XLSX file.

  11. Show "Open for Update" override enabled

This is about the protection of data for external user records. I have copied the below text from the Alma Documentation page: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/ProductDocumentation/010AlmaOnlineHelp(English)/050Administration/030UserManagement/010ManagingUsers#UserDetails

To enable editing other fields of external users, select Open for Update, and select Yes. Edit the relevant fields and select Save. Note that changes you make to most fields will be lost after the next SIS synchronization job. However, Alma prompts you to determine whether the following fields will be overridden with the next SIS synchronization job: Title, PIN number, Job category, User group, Campus, Preferred language, Resource sharing libraries,…

  12. Allow institution to determine which type of Bibliographic record will be created when creating a Purchase Request

This idea was submitted by Ex Libris product management team in order to better understand the need as well as get feedback from the community.

    Current situation:

    • A purchase request can be created from Primo/Leganto/Alma

    • A purchase request must rely on a Bibliographic record, there are 2 options for the purchase request to match on a Bibliographic record:

    • Match to an existing Bib record (if exists)

    • Create a new Bib record (this is the use case described below)

When creating a purchase request, the user has the option to decide whether it is a "One Time" purchase (Book) or "Continuous"…

  13. Messages/Email in Alma

When assigning tasks, bibs, etc. to users in Alma, it would be beneficial to receive a copy of the message that is being sent and/or have a history in your user profile so that you can keep track/proof of messages/assignments sent to people/users.

  14. Physical titles results-- option to Sort by call number

Currently, a Physical titles search by call number does NOT give us the option to Sort by call number. In order to sort by call number, we have to do a Physical items search. Having the option to sort by call number (Asc or Desc) would be extremely useful. The display options for Physical titles vs. Physical items are different. If your primary search for most projects is by Physical titles, it is problematic not to have a sort option by Permanent call number.

  15. Enable 1 Alma Print Daemon to Serve Multiple Printers

I am thankful that the Alma Printouts Queue and Print Daemon exists. The free email service bundled with our printers has proven to be unreliable at times.

However it is unfortunate that 1 PC can only run 1 instance of the Print Daemon software. So to map multiple Alma printers to multiple local printers requires running the Daemon on multiple servers.

The enhancement I am requesting is for this software to be able to map multiple Alma printers each to their own separate local printer. For example

    • Alma Printer Main Circ Desk -> Local Printer BLDGAFLR2-7

    • Alma Printer Rare Book…

  17. Limit use of material types by specific library

The list of material types used across our consortium is very long. Even though we have turned off those that we don't use, we still have a list of about 65. For most of our libraries, this is overkill, as locations like our Chemistry library only use 4 or 5 at most. Catalogers have to use the full list, which increases the chance of confusion or clicking on the wrong thing for even straightforward cataloging. I want to be able to restrict the material types that can be used at any particular library. This was a feature of another ILS…

  20. Support automatic weeding of holdings in the Swedish national catalogue

The Swedish national Ex Libris user group (ElugSWE) would like Alma to integrate with the Swedish national catalogue (Libris), so that when a bibliographic record is deleted in Alma, the corresponding holding record is deleted in Libris.

(We have discussed this idea with the local Ex Libris representative and also a customer success manager, and were recommended to submit it to Idea Exchange.)

This integration exists for multiple other library systems, and it would be really welcomed if Alma could match them on this.

The integration would need to make use of Libris API:s, documented here:

    https://github.com/libris/librisxl/blob/master/rest/API.md

    The sections most…
