  1. Relationship designators should not be searched in Field 5XX, subfield $a

In Authorities, when relationship designators are used to specify relationships between agents in field 5XX, with subfield $i (relationship information), Alma searchs the relationship designators included in $i instead of searching the agent name included in subfield $a (personal names; corporate names, etc.). The subfield $i is not part of the name of the author or contributor, it is a separate element that denotes a relationship between agents. It is for this reason that we propose that names be indexed by the name included in subfield $a instead of subfield $i.

  2. Add barcode check in Receive

We propose an enhancement to the Alma system to include a barcode verification check during the receiving process in the Receive module.
Currently we have observed that Alma does not perform this check when scanning barcodes, unlike the functionality available in the Edit Item section under List of Items.
Implementing this feature would help ensure greater accuracy and streamline the receiving process.

  3. Sort Routine for ordered items in PO Line

I wish to get support from all Acquisition Librarians who visit this idea.

My library has to order more than 100 copies for different locations for certain titles. During creation of these PO Lines, the sorting of Ordered Items is in chaos after pressing the “Save” button. The sorting is not following the input sequence, or by alphabetical order. My acquisition colleagues, therefore, cannot double check the ordered items in sequence. Contacted Supports Team, it is confirmed that the sort routine functionality for Order Items is not currently supported in the system, and suggest me to post here for your…

  4. Sync Locate Profiles for Partners Copied from the RSD

Currently the system does not support the synchronization community partners' locate profiles. Updates initiated by the Edit Resource Sharing Library row action (e.g. changes to contact information) are reflected in the partner records downloaded by other institutions. However, if a partner profile is copied from the RSD and a change is later made to the locate profile, this change is not reflected in systems where the partner was previously copied. Locate profiles copied from community also cannot be manually edited. Therefore, institutions that have copied the partner before the change was made, will need to either:

    1. delete their existing partner…

  5. Barcode Generation with "Prefix+Sequence+Mod-10 Option 1"

Our library is a new user to Alma, and we found that our using barcode generated by "Prefix+Sequence+Mod-10 Option 1" with Mode-10 Option 1 as the 14th check digit is not supported in Alma. We have to, therefore, scan in the barcode one item by one item when for creating and receiving items. I wish your vote to us, even your library is not using "Prefix+Sequence+Mod-10 Option 1" for barcode generation configuration, to empower the diversity and features of Alma.

Below please find the Mod 10-Option 1 calculation:

    https://docs.zebra.com/us/en/printers/software/zpl-pg/c-zpl-mod10-mod-10-mod-43-checkdigits/t-zpl-mod10-mod-10-check-digit.html

  6. Expose Shared License, Distribution, and Negotiation Details in the license REST API

The Alma license REST API (POST/PUT/GET /almaws/v1/acq/licenses) does not expose several pieces of license configuration that are available in the Alma UI. This prevents end-to-end license provisioning via API and forces manual UI work after every API call.

Fields currently absent from the API:

At the top of the License Details form — the "Shared License" on/off setting, and the "Distribution" multi-select controlling which sections are shared with member institutions (Summary, License Terms, Notes, Attachments).

In the Negotiation Details tab that appears for shared licenses — per-member rows containing Member Name, Price per year, Price increase (percentage), Currency, Start date,…

  7. Separate 655 genre/form from Subjects in Analytics

Since Library of Congress are putting more emphasis on genre/form (MARC 655) and removing the $v Form subdivisions, it would be helpful to separate the 655 searching as genre/form from the broader Subjects field (600, 610, 611, 630, 650, 651 etc) in Alma Analytics. There is already a separate Genre search in Alma advanced search which is very useful.

  8. Add General Electronic Services information to Analytics

In General Electronic Services, we have four different services for article requests, four different services for book requests, and five different services for book chapter requests, all developed over the years to address provider idiosyncrasies. Each group of services provides the same link to the user, e.g. the article request links all display "Get this PDF".

Our Interlibrary Services unit has the product delivery statistics, but I would really find it helpful to know how many clicks each of our General Electronic Services gets. It would help with service and link maintenance and I expect with troubleshooting, since it would…

  9. Pop-up window with information about blocks and reader's fees when create a request

It would be helpful if, when filling out the user request form in Alma, a pop-up window with information about the users's blocks and financial obligations appeared when their card number was entered.
A pop-up window exactly like the one that opens when you open a patron's account using the “Manage Patron Services” option.

This solution would allow the users to be immediately informed of their obligations and avoid being sent from one station to another.

For example: In our library, fines can only be paid at the station on the ground floor. If the employee at that desk orders…

  10. Allow for an authority file to be addressed by different codes in $2 of various BIB fields

In Alma the authority file, a subject or term stems from, is defined by the content of $2 in various 6XX fields. This code controls the F3 functionality, as well as the linking process and the various jobs like PTC. Each and every authority file is addressed by one specific code.

In the German speaking countries we use an integrated authority file (GND), which amongst names and subjects, also includes genre/form terms. For historical reasons the genre/form terms in BIB field 655 are marked with the official LoC /MARC Genre/Form Code and Term Source Codes “gnd-content” and “gnd-carrier” in $2,…

  11. Alma collections: Allow to add multiple titles from network zone

We very much appreciate that the idea Alma collections: Allow to add from network zone (https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/44841430-alma-collections-allow-to-add-from-network-zone), which allows to add NZ records to IZ collections, could be developed. However, we think the usefulness of this feature would be greatly improved if it was possible to add more than one record at a time, for example via sets.

  12. History Note Indicating Shelf Report Processing

For physical collection care/management teams, it would be valuable to have an indicator in an item's history that notes a barcode was fed through the Shelf Report Function along with the date. This small note can be immensely valuable when tracking down missing physical items in a collection.

  13. Community-Managed electronic collections: Add several portfolios to one title

In Community-Managed electronic collections, it is not possible to contribute a second portfolio to the same title that is pointing to a different URL. Use case: Both URLs are valid, both contain copies (in part) of the journal. It would be nice, if the contribution only gets blocked, if the URL of the newly contributed portfolio is identical to the existing one.

  15. Acquisitions: Add the possibility to contact the vendor when manually closing a POL

We need a way to discontinue a standing order before completion and to inform the vendor about it via email directly from Alma.
"Cancel" does have the possibility to inform the vendor about the cancellation. However, by cancelling a POL, Alma is designed to completely undo the order by detaching already received items from the order and cancelling active requests on these items (this caused us huge trouble in the past, so we can’t use it).
"Close" is currently lacking the possibility to contact the vendor via email directly from Alma.
So we suggest that an option to contact the…

  16. Modification date of records that were processed via running a job but no modifications were made, should not change.

When a record is included in a set and any job runs on that set, such as a normalization job, the modification date of the record is updated even if the record itself was not changed. This means the modification date is updated by design in Alma after processing or saving the record. Therefore, it is not currently possible in Analytics to run a report to check how many records were actually updated/modified in the job.

  17. Prevent items to be loaned immediately when they are returned at a SIP2 Self check machine and have a Rapido personal delivery request

When a loaned item is returned at a SIP2 Self check machine and has a Rapido personal delivery request, the item is automatically loaned to the patron (and sorted to a request bin). Requested items then are scanned in at a circulation desk for further processing. In case of a personal delivery request, the item is immediately returned and marked for reshelving. Librarians do not see that there was a request (and a short loan).

Previously we handled personal delivery requests via a GetIt request. The effect was the same, but we were able to prevent this behaviour by de-selecting…

  18. Alma Split View Hides Main Menu, Affecting Cloud App Access

After rolling out the new UI for the “All Titles Search” with split-view functionality, the main menu is no longer persistent. The menu (which contains location, notifications, cloud apps, etc.) disappears when entering split view.

This is particularly problematic for institutions that frequently use cloud apps in their workflows—for example, when editing physical items. While cloud apps can be pinned before entering split view, this workaround is not satisfactory. Pinning apps adds unnecessary clicks and is easy to forget, resulting in frequent toggling in and out of split view.

As a consequence, many staff members have stopped using cloud apps…

  19. Have multiple pickup locations available in Primo when requesting items from the same library

Our wish is to be able to offer several pickup locations in Primo for the same library when documents are available for loan (not linked to a reading room desk) without having to create a new virtual library. The library must be able to configure the visibility of these pickup locations based on certain user criteria (e.g., user group).

For example, a library may offer a special room whose access is reserved for teachers and doctoral students. The library would like doctoral students/teachers to be able to choose this room as their pickup location at the time of the request…

  20. General Electronic Service Batch Import and Export Option

    Background:
The General Electronic Services (GES) provides essential options to customize the view and features for patrons. Currently, the GES only allows service availability rules to be added one at a time. However, libraries often need to manage extensive and complex availability rules, sometimes with very little notice.

    Request:
Add the ability to add, update, or remove service availability rules in bulk using an Excel or CSV file. In addition, provide the ability to export service availability rules in a format compatible for future uploading.

    Why:
    * In cases where we're providing alternate access to a resource, we may need…
