Permanent collections
Colecciones permanentes:
Permanent collections:
If a title has all its items assigned to a permanent collection of lost, missing, discarded documents, etc. , the Alma system must prevent the registry from being recovered and viewed through Primo, so…93 votes -
Improve Alma's Licence „Controlled Vocabulary“ functionality
Background (as it works now):
Under „Manage License Terms“ a field can be defined as „Controlled Vocabulary“ and the defined CV values can be selected within a License. However, these CV values are only some kind of text module / boilerplate text which are copied into a specific license field. This means: when a CV value is changed or deleted, the content of this specific field in all licenses did not change. The change must be made in each license itself. A deleted CV value is displayed in the license field as: „<CV value> (not listed)“. The CV values functionality…

Allow user preferred pick up location while retaining other options
Currently in the TOU you can allow pick-up at "Any pick-up location" or at" User affiliated Campus Pick-up locations". If the latter is set, only pick-up locations of the user's campus are available. We need an extension to the former rule, that lets the user's preferred pick-up location (a new parameter in the user profile) be selected as default option, while still allowing the user to select a different location when placing the request.
Obviously, the "User preferred pick-up library" needs to be added to the user profile.77 votes -
make "test access" work when direct linking is enabled
The "test access" button in Alma does not work when direct linking is enabled in Primo. When trying to test access for an electronic portfolio, Alma loads a blank page forcing staff to click "display in a new window" in order to proceed. We recommend that this behavior be changed so that test access works the same regardless of whether direct linking is enabled.

Display the date a work order is created
When a work order is created to put an item in process internally ("Technical Services (CAMS)" or "Show to supervisor" or "Preservation") it would be helpful to have Alma display the date this status change happened.
It could be in the "item history", and/or the "In process" display, and /or in the "list of items." Currently, the receipt date is the last date displayed in these locations, which does not help with locating an in-process item.

Ignore call number prefix ($$k) in BROWSE SHELFLIST in Alma
Alma's Browse Shelflist function includes the call number prefix (holdings record field 852 $$k) when generating the browse list. At the University at Buffalo, we use that prefix for oversize volumes, and for a variety of other sub-locations, designations and shelving areas.
As a result, any holdings with a prefix ($$k) does not show up alongside holdings in the same call number range, essentially hiding many titles from staff who seek to browse the shelf list.
An advanced search for specific library holdings, permanent call number type, and permanent call number does not remedy this issue, as it does not…

Allow each items’ request policy with specific parameters (location, keyword etc.) to be excluded from the title-level request policy
I believe this is an expansion on this idea https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/31119715-title-level-request-and-item-level-request
But we are dealing with ASRS in our case so I thought it might be a little more elaborate.
We would like to have the option to allow each items’ request policy with specific parameters (location, keyword etc.) to be excluded from the title-level request policy.
Currently we have "No requesting" as our general policy that's applied to all of our items except for the ones in ASRS. The problem is that when items with multiple copies and identical call number exist both at open-stack library and ASRS, the No…

Allow customization of close_paid_lost_loans parameter
When the closepaidlostloans parameter to false and lost loans are closed (either manually or through the Close Lost Loans job), refunds/credits are not automatically given to patrons if the item is subsequently found and returned. When setting the closepaidlostloans parameter to true and the lost loan is closed (automatically setting the Lost and Paid status), a refund/credit IS applied to the patron’s account if the item is subsequently found and returned, providing the Lost Loan Refund Ratio is greater than 0.
For libraries that wish to take advantage of this new Process Type, but…

Column and/or filter for Privacy in Manage Sets
In Manage Sets it would be really helpful if there was a column to show if a set was Private or Not, and a filter for Privacy (Yes/No).
This would help when I'm trying to delete from "My Sets" or All Sets" tab. To make sure I don't break someone's business process I need to go into each set to check the privacy before I delete a set.

Mechanism to validate binary MARC record structure
There is currently no mechanism within Alma to ensure that exported or published binary MARC records have valid record structures. Even though Alma uses MARCXML and is not impacted internally by invalid binary MARC, libraries must still provide binary MARC records to external entities in the course of regular business (vendors, outsourcers, agencies, other stakeholders).
Structurally invalid binary MARC records significantly hamper data sharing for libraries. A third party application, MarcEdit, can be used to validate MARC record structure, but since our data is stored in Alma, there should be a mechanism native to Alma that validates binary MARC structure…

Option to sort reading list citations by publication date
Instructors sometimes want to sort citations in a reading list by publication date. We would like the options “Date – ascending” and “Date – descending” added to the “Sort by” dropdown in Alma and to the “Order citations in all sections” dropdown in Leganto, so that either library staff or instructors could make this change.
We know that data in this field can take on different forms because of the way it is entered in the bib record. For instance, it could be e.g. "c2000", "2000", "2000-2001" etc., so some normalization may have to occur

PO Line and invoice attachments: Upload/View/Edit/Delete - additional user roles needed
It is possible to upload attachments to a PO Line or an invoice. These attachements can be viewed, edited and deleted as well.
In case of using Alma as (the only) data storage for e.g. invoice PDFs, it is very important that attachments can be deleted only by specially privileged staff users. Deletion might be necessery e.g. because of erroneous uploads.
Looking into the 'Roles Reports' shows that there is no 'Delete' option listed (so Edit means also Delete):
Purchasing Operator / Purchasing Manager
- polineattachments.xml ... View Edit
- po_attachments.xml ... Edit
- invoiceattachmentstab.xml ... View
- poline…

Update user roles quickly - import the Excel file exported from another user
Currently, it's possible export a user's roles in Alma to an Excel file. However, the counterpart function isn't there: to be able to take the roles you've exported from one user and import them into another user's record. This would be such a time-saving feature because it would enable us to take the roles from one member of staff and apply the same to another.

Allow a staff to set his/her default department
We are required to choose a "current desk/department" for each login. However, since each staff usually has his/her major role, meaning he/she might most of the time work on the same desk/department. To be more friendly, it's better to have staff to set his/her own default department and select other location when necessary.

Lead time for booking requests
We use the Reading Room functionality for our Rare Books and Special Collections items. These items are not on open shelves and are securely stored with access only available to staff to retrieve items. Currently there is no way to specify a lead time between making the booking and the start time of booking (ie. you can make a booking for an item at 10am, with a booking start time of 11am that same day). Staffing levels, item availability and item condition can sometimes mean that items are not available for use immediately (if at all), which creates problems for…
