  1. Alma new layout: better visual distinction between Alma Main Menu and Alma Configuration

    Hello.

    One major change is that the Main Menu (with the Alma functional areas: Acq, Resources, Fulfillment,...) is now on the left side. The Alma Configuration Menu is also on the left side.

    It can be difficult to visually distinguish between the Main Menu and the Configuration Menu. (Please see "Alma new layout, Main Menu vs Config Menu.png")

  2. User information in Print slip report

    We are currently using the print slip report for our click and collect service but for us it is missing some vital user information around the requester. We would like to see the primary identifier in the report. We tried to deal with this in analytics but we also require the item barcode and this caused problems where there are multiple items under a title. The print slip report contains all the information (including the multiple barcodes) we need except for more extensive user information to help staff deal with this off site.   3. Permanent Call Number in Physical Item Editor

    It would be extremely useful if we could edit the permanent call number in the physical item editor the same way we can edit the permanent location. This information is an holding's element in many libraries.
    Otherwise, after receiving the orders, we need to edit both the physical item and the holding after cataloging and before scanning the items to put them on the shelves.. This is tedious and prone to errors.

  4. Possibility for turning off Auto-Assigning in task list when opening or editing an item without completing the task in the Alma Config.

    When working in several different task-lists in Alma, you are automatically assigned to any Item that you open and/or edit and exit out of without completing the task. This applies to items in the Purchase Request, Invoices (in Review) and Electronic Activation Task list and more.

    This may be perfectly logical for certain institutions' workflows, but for others it may be cumbersome to have this across all task lists.

    It would be great to have the ability to turn this auto-assigning on or off for the different task lists in the Alma Configuration so that people could open/edit and close…

  5. Purchase Request additional citations types

    We are trying to utilize the purchase request form in Primo to have users request streaming video through Alma. Streaming videos are very popular nowadays but unfortunately there is not an option for this material type and citation in the purchase request form. 

    Can you add more citation options? Besides books or journals there is not an option that matches the streaming video material type. It would be really helpful to have a streaming citation or video since this resource is very popular among our users.

  6. There should be a separate category for Transfers - along with Allocations and Expenditures.

    At the Fund level, there should be a separate category for Transfers. Right now, if a transfer is made, the allocation changes. There should be Original Allocation (the original amount, doesn't change), Transfers, Current Allocation (original plus Transfers) and Expenditures. It's important for me to know what the original allocation is. If the Transfers are not reflected, what is shown with only the Allocations and Expenditures gives a distorted picture of the money for that fund. You can get a break down of Allocations, Transfers and Expenditures in Analytics - why can't it be shown in the ledger?

  8. Separate field for borrowing request statuses to display in My Library Account

    The borrowing request statuses in Alma are configurable, so that you can change the text that appears for both library staff and the user (in My Library Account).

    However, we would like the ability to have a separate field where the status can be configured for the user which affects the display in My Library Account only. This is because we would like to provide detail in these statuses for our staff, that our users do not need to see.

  9. Time to reshelve not applicable if there is a request

    After testing the Time to reshelve, we found that if an item is requested, the delay for reshelve is not applicable.
    It make sense in a way that the on hold shelf is not really a reshelve, but we would like to take into account the delay for reshelve for requested items too. In case of quarantaine.

  10. Setting a pickup location for interested users

    It would be nice to set the pickup location as you do with requests. Currently the item goes to the "owning library" and the pickup is set there. We have Faculty that prefer different libraries for pickup so if a book is purchased but we allocated it to a Science Library but the faculty goes to a different library we can't set the pickup for that item.

  11. Allow multiple time zones for institutions with campuses in different time zones

    We are currently implementing Alma, and have been staggered to learn that we are only allowed one time zone as our default. We understand that (it seems) most Alma institutions only have the one time zone, but in our case we have two different time zones - and one of them has a period of daylight savings every year, so that adds to the complication.

    We can't see how Alma will be functional for us with Fulfillment and the like, if we can't allow both our east and west coast campuses to have their own time zones in place when…

    For a bether overwiev show the note addedd in collection service also under Edit collection. Saves a lot of work.

  13. Limit use of material types by specific library

    The list of material types used across our consortium is very long. Even though we have turned off those that we don't use, we still have a list of about 65. For most of our libraries, this is overkill, as locations like our Chemistry library only use 4 or 5 at most. Catalogers have to use the full list, which increases the chance of confusion or clicking on the wrong thing for even straightforward cataloging.   14. Set preferred SMS default to "Yes"

    When adding users manually in Alma the phone number has a parameter called "Preferred SMS" which is automatically set to "No". It controls whether Alma sends SMS' to the patron or not. It can only be changed after the profile is first saved. Hence it is ease to forget to toggle this setting.

    We would like to have the option to choose the default setting for Preferred SMS, or the option to toggle this setting before saving on the "Quick User Management" registration form.

  15. Configure paired libraries to have own Discovery Widget in Alma

    We have two libraries and would like to have the Discovery Widget visible on Alma's initial page based on own libraries collection. When I go to Configuration Menu > Discovery > Display Configuration > Configure Views, 2 libraries are listed. If I select my own library, my own library discovery widget becomes the default to both libraries. We'd like each library to have their corresponding collection on the Discovery Widget.

    When a patron renews in Primo an item from other institution borrowed by the resource sharing library the staff does not get a message of this request. The only thing is that the borrowing request changes its status to "Mediated Patron Renewal"

    Scenario:
    There are multiple workflows and purposes for which the Quick Cataloging interface is used. For example, in course reserves, staff frequently need to create records for different resource formats beyond book and article. Staff at the circulation desks need to create records any time an item brought to the desk is not found in Alma, and these resources can take any form - from sound recordings on CD to equipment like laptop chargers.

  18. Delay for hold notification - up to 5 digits

    Even if a library is closed to the public, the staff are working.

    When they scan a returned loan, a notification is sent but the patron cannot retrieve his document due to the closed library.
    It would be beneficial for us to be able to delay the notification for a week.
    We would like to get up to 5 digits the delay for hold notification. Currently, it's 3 digits max, 999 minutes (16 hours).

    Library personnel would like to be able to generate a list of titles and related records in Analytics so as to document title changes, facilitate research and scholarly discovery and develop research guides for use within the institution.   20. Fix Analytics request creator field to stop it changing to Alma staff primary ID when request cancelled on Alma

    When a user places a request on Primo, the ‘creator’ field in the Analytics requests table shows as ‘System’. When a request is placed by a staff member on Alma, the staff member’s primary ID shows in the creator field.

    If a request placed by a user on Primo is subsequently cancelled by a staff member on Alma, the creator field changes from System to the staff member’s primary ID. This means reporting on requests placed on Primo vs. requests placed by staff members on Alma is not accurate and the field is misleading (creator should refer only to creator).
