  1. Identify headings linked to authority records in Simple Record View

I frequently consult the Simple Record View page of bibliographic records when working on the Authority Control Task List. This view, however, does not indicate which headings are linked to authority records and which are not. The only place in Alma to confirm this is through the Metadata Editor.

This proposal recommends adding a marker (such as the binoculars icon found in the Metadata Editor) to those fields in the Simple Record View with headings linked to authority records. This would save a step in the Task List review process, not to mention being helpful to any Alma user looking…

  2. Sort of holdings with the same location by call number in the GetIt Tab

Currently, the display of holdings in Primo for multi-volume monographs is random.
Alma only allows to configure the order of locations by "their proximity to the patron, according to the library IP address”. However, holdings with the same location but different call numbers are not sorted in any meaningful way.

When we catalogue a multi-volume monograph we create a different holding record for each volume, so we cannot use the “item sort routines” to adjust the display in Primo, because they only apply to items within the same holding.

Currently, our patrons see things like this:
    http://primo.sns.it/primo_library/libweb/action/display.do?tabs=requestTab&ct=display&fn=search&doc=39pis_alma2150514590002521

This idea was mistakenly marked as completed and therefore I am setting it back to its original state.
The idea that was completed as part of October release is ‘Sort of holdings by location(A-Z) in Primo Getit’

  3. Support full SIP2 protocol

For the communication between selfcheck kiosks and Alma, the SIP2 protocol is needed.
The full protocol can be found here: https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/3M-Standard-Interchange-Protocol-Version-2.00.pdf

Unfortunately, Ex Libris does not support all fields that would be available in the protocol (marked as 'not supported' in this document): https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/integrations/selfcheck/sip2/

Please make the whole SIP2 protocol available for Alma.

  4. List of items - when have several pages of items on a holdings, return back to active page

I apologize if this has already been posted (I searched and searched and did not see it), but when viewing a holdings record with a list of items that have multiple pages of items (like 6-7 pages) - it would be great if Alma would default back to the page of items you were actively on, versus defaulting back to page one - every time you edit an item record on list of items page. I know that the lines on invoices that were several pages used to do the same thing (default to page one), but was fixed.

    Example,…

  5. Expand ONIX-PL import to all default values in Alma.

For ONIX-PL to actually save time, more variables has to be supported.
We suggest that all default fields in Alma, and language for Text and Data mining are included in the import file.

  6. user - add option for dynamic purge date - e.g. 12 months after expiration date

Right now the purge date is a static value manually inserted when registering a new user. When the user renews registration, purge date must also be manually updated.
In our library regulations we'd like to purge users after a specific amount of time after expiry date. Keeping purge dates manually up to date is however quite an error prone procedure.
It would be great to have the chance to automatically update the value in purge date when saving according to specific a timespan (e.g. 10 months or 10 years after expiration date).

  7. Prompt message if you have not saved a record before releasing

Currently if you edit a record and then go to release it before you have saved, you do not get any kind of prompt asking if you want to release it without saving.

There is also no prompt message if you try to save a record that has blocks to let you know that the action was not done.

  8. Ability to link to single interface records from vendor record

At the moment, when you link to an interface from a vendor record in Alma the interface record cannot be linked to one that has already been set up. For example, if you have Vendor A and link it to Interface X you cannot also link Vendor B to Interface X. You are also unable to have two interfaces with the same name. This is required in situations where we have multiple vendors for the one interface. For example, SAGE journals are acquired directly through SAGE but the ebooks are acquired through iGroup. In this case we would like to…

  9. A way to set the Scan-in-Items drop-down-menu Status to our specific workflows

In Cataloging when we scan in item barcodes to send a work order to shelf preparation or end-processing, the scan-in-Item Drop-down menu defaults to Cataloging. Acquisitions uses this to send material to us --but we want to send material to Shelf Preparation/End-Processing. So we have to manually mouse down to insert this everything single time. This is slow (uses up time). It would be faster and healthier (on our hands) if Ex Libris could reconfigure so any library unit in a library could unit set the Scan-in-Item Drop-down menu to default to (--or to "persist" or "stick" at--)the specific status…

  10. PO Line and invoice attachments: Upload/View/Edit/Delete - additional user roles needed

It is possible to upload attachments to a PO Line or an invoice. These attachements can be viewed, edited and deleted as well.

In case of using Alma as (the only) data storage for e.g. invoice PDFs, it is very important that attachments can be deleted only by specially privileged staff users. Deletion might be necessery e.g. because of erroneous uploads.

Looking into the 'Roles Reports' shows that there is no 'Delete' option listed (so Edit means also Delete):

    Purchasing Operator / Purchasing Manager

  11. VIAF Integration for Alma

I have been looking at the Alma Road map for 2018/19 and note the exciting BIBFRAME and Linked Data initiatives.

Fitting in nicely would be the facility to search VIAF from within Alma.
This would make it easier to check what already exists in authority files internationally and identify a suitable entry if we have to add identifying information for disambiguation purposes.

  12. Permanent collections

    Colecciones permanentes:

  13. Improved facets in Alma - Include/Exclude plus the ability to select multiple facets

After searching in Alma, it would be great if we have the ability to further refine searching with facets that allow for the selection of multiple selections, as well as offering the ability to exclude or includes. For example, when searching a POL now, my facets for Status include In Review, Waiting for Renewal, Waiting for Manual Renewal, etc. I would like to either exclude two facets, or include 5 facets, but now I have to select one facet, review, then clear that facet and select the next one.

Multi-select facets are supported in Alma’s new UX searches, including Holdings, Borrowing requests, Lending requests and PO Lines, and will become supported in other searches as they are gradually moved to our new UX. Excluding facets will also be gradually added to new UX searches.

  14. Ability to add closed purchase order lines to the Acquisitions tab, PO Line field on active portfolios

Alma will not let you place a closed PO Line in the portfolio Acquisitions tab, PO Line field.

We want to tie closed PO Lines to active portfolios because the PO Line is why we have archival access and why the portfolios are still turned on after cancellation.

Migration to Alma results in many PO Lines not linked in the Acquisitions tab PO Line field. Cleaning this up would involve reopening the PO Lines and closing them. This is too much effort for what we need to accomplish. Please implement!

  15. Set preferred SMS default to "Yes"

When adding users manually in Alma the phone number has a parameter called "Preferred SMS" which is automatically set to "No". It controls whether Alma sends SMS' to the patron or not. It can only be changed after the profile is first saved. Hence it is ease to forget to toggle this setting.

We would like to have the option to choose the default setting for Preferred SMS, or the option to toggle this setting before saving on the "Quick User Management" registration form.

  16. Customize Alma search indexes

We would like to customize the search indexes in Alma for all MARC21 fields (not just localized fields). For instance, in the Alma advanced search > all titles > "Title" > we would like to change to "245 (Title)" to make it easier to identify the MARC21 field we want to search.

  17. Short Loan Reminder - overdue notice doesn't display due time

The Short Loan Reminder uses the Full Overdue and Lost Loan Notification letter for the overdue reminder (sent x minutes after due time). This letter does not display the due time of loans however, and is not configurable.

  18. Add Storage Location ID as column choice in Item View screen

We would like to view Storage Location ID in the item view screen within Alma: https://www.screencast.com/t/1fJ1IyCq

We can now access in Analytics however staff would like to be able to see this field without having to run a separate analytics report to see the data.

  19. Add pickup library code to On Hold Shelf Letter (FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter)

In our consortial environment we are maintaining a public list of libraries. The patrons can see the library contact information there for each library in our network - https://libraries.swisscovery.help.

We would like to add a URL link to this list to specific pickup library where the user has to pickup the title mentioned in the On Hold Shelf Letter (code FulPlaceOnHoldShelfLetter).

Unfortunately, the pickup library code is not available in the letter XML. There are pickup library name (request/deliveryaddress) or combination of library name and circulation desk name (request/calculateddestination_name). But these are not suitable for URL linking.

  20. "A" and "The" are not alphabetical

When listing items, titles that begin with 'a' or 'the' (the indefinite and definite articles) should not be alphabetized under 'A' and 'T', respectively. They should be alphabetized based on the beginning letter of the first non-article in the title. This is standard practice and it is ridiculous to do otherwise.
