Implement the Counter Registry API
Tasha from COUNTER asked (during ER&L 2024) if anyone had spoken with ExL about implementing the registry API. In the registry, there's SUSHI details, contact details, and notifications. Harvesting from COUNTER registry would reduce complications and would alert librarians to any problems.

Limit number of resource sharing partners in a borrowing request's rota
We sometimes see instances where a problematic resource sharing requests are sent to dozens of partners before they're cancelled or go unfilled. It would be very helpful if we could somehow limit the number of partners that appear in a request's rota. Since we would always want to include a lender of last resort like ILLiad or WorlsShare ILL as the final partner, it would probably be best to allow us to limit the number of partners from a specific rota template that can be added to a rota.

MDE Search Resources mask should be empty
When opening the Search Resources mask in MDE, the previous search is still in the data mask. For us there is no benefit for this behavior and we would like to have an empty mask and not to clear the mask every time before starting a new search.
(If other libraries need this opportunity, we would suggest to make the default settings for this mask customizable)73 votes -
"Display in Discovery" from any screen in Alma
Make the Display in Discovery action available in any screen/view of a record in Alma, not just in a repository search or in portfolio lists. There is often the need to see how a resource displays in Primo when working in an item, orders, and other areas of records.

Check out an item to a visiting patron's account at their home institution. Direct Pick-up Resource Sharing
Instead of creating and managing a visiting patron's record, allow libraries to check items out onto their home institutions record. The patron could validate by choosing the institution and having the patron sign in to their account.
As a patron I could go to any library in my network and easily check out an item there by signing into my home library and checking out the items. Everything checked out would show up on my home library's record and I could return the item either at the lending library or my home library.

Limit use of material types by specific library
The list of material types used across our consortium is very long. Even though we have turned off those that we don't use, we still have a list of about 65. For most of our libraries, this is overkill, as locations like our Chemistry library only use 4 or 5 at most. Catalogers have to use the full list, which increases the chance of confusion or clicking on the wrong thing for even straightforward cataloging. Resource Sharing Electronic Locate for Borrowing article requests
A borrowing article request is stopped for local ownership when the library has an electronic database that may have coverage for the journal.
Currently, the borrowing locate local ownership check does not check the year, volume, or issue in the article request to determine if the library has access to this specific year in the database. The borrowing locate does not check for embargo status.

Fulfilment Network - Control of the Register button display by user group of the logged-in user.
*This is for the Fulfillment Network, not AFN.
The Register button(1) is displayed even if the logged-in user is set to "Restricted Users"(2).
Primo VE checks with Alma whether the FN function is available after pressing the Register button.
We think this button control is not designed with the User experience.
This is because the existence of the register button is meaningless for users who cannot use this feature.To improve this function, the Register button should not be displayed to users who are set as Restricted Users.

Refine search and Search external resources function
When using the "Search external resources" function under profiles including several external catalogs, we can only use refine search link on the first tab.
It would be great if the refine search link was on all tabs rather than on the fisrt tab only.

Display prompts in analytics widgets
We have created a widget to display IDs of citations, and would like to be able to display the associated prompts to allow users to select their own criteria.
The current behaviour is by design:

Fiscal Period Rollover - Move Cash Balance forward to new period
The latest release of Alma added functionality to the Fiscal period rollover that offers an option to Allocate new funds based on the Cash Balance of the same fund in the closing Fiscal period. We’ve been testing this out and it seems while the cash balance is indeed allocated to the new period, it is also left on the old period!
This means the same money is being reported and allocated twice on Alma, which leaves great scope for confusion and I believe is contrary to good accounting practice.

More information on Process Type Transit
In 'Item history', you can see when an item was checked in and out of transit, but not for whom or whereto. If something goes wrong with the transit, you can't get any information about the inactive/completed request.

Update user roles quickly - import the Excel file exported from another user
Currently, it's possible export a user's roles in Alma to an Excel file. However, the counterpart function isn't there: to be able to take the roles you've exported from one user and import them into another user's record. This would be such a time-saving feature because it would enable us to take the roles from one member of staff and apply the same to another.

Enhance Convert to Resource Sharing function on Pick From Shelf List
When you don't find a requested item at your institution, it is great to be able to 'convert it to a resource sharing request' -- however that function should mark the item missing from our institution. Since pick from shelf does NOT display barcode and once we select the item to be converted to resource sharing request, it disappears from the pick from shelf list, so it is very difficult and time consuming to find the item and toggle it to missing. Linking bib records based on 830 $x should be optional
Alma currently links bib records based on the presence of the ISSN in the 830 $x. This causes a terribly confusing display in Primo and Alma and is prone to messing up requests. This should be an optional "feature" and not automatically enabled. We do have the option to turn off all related records, but if we use that, we lose all our boundwith relations.
We should not have to delete a valid MARC subfield (830 $x) in order to prevent related holdings record displaying in Alma and Primo.

Ampersand symbol (&) in Repository search
It's found that the repository searches using the ampersand (&) symbol and the word 'and' produce different results. Our request is to make the ampersand symbol and the word ‘and’ interchangeable when Alma does repository searches.

Support local portfolio record creation using parser parameter linking
Alma electronic collections offer ‘parser parameter’ linking as an alternative to static URLs. Community Zone electronic collections generally use parser parameter linking. Currently there is no way of creating local bibliographic and portfolio records and at the point of record creation setting them to use parser parameter linking, and populating the portfolio record parser parameters field with the relevant bkey value for that title. If we want to use local bibliographic and portfolio records and use parser parameter linking, our only option is to create the records using static URLs and then subsequently edit the records to use parser parameters.

New Metadata Editor templates: editing template v. creating new record
Previously, when opening a template in the classic Metadata Editor (MDE), a click on the template name from the list of templates would give a list of options, including creating a new record: there was no doubt as to whether you were creating a new record from the template, or editing the template itself.

Display NZ activated Portfolios even if Related Records Services are enabled in an IZ
In our consortial environement, we have activaded a number of portfolios on NZ level, which we would then expect to also be available in our IZs. Often this is not the case and instead of a specific article that is part of the portfolio, only the journal it belongs to is displayed under Services for Related Titles. As Ex Libris informed us, this is because Related Records Services are activated in our consortium, which leads the link resolver to display those related journals instead of checking if there is an NZ activated portfolio. Ability to use import profiles on OCLC Connexion exported records
Currently import profiles can applied to Marc files that are uploaded into Alma. One can use the import profile to specify match methods, tell Alma how to deal with matches of existing and incoming records (overlay, merge, or use NZ record), and also specify inventory info to map the Marc 949 field to holdings and item records. Although the OCLC Connexion integration profile deals with importing records it lacks the features described in the previous sentence.
