Support local portfolio record creation using parser parameter linking
Alma electronic collections offer ‘parser parameter’ linking as an alternative to static URLs. Community Zone electronic collections generally use parser parameter linking. Currently there is no way of creating local bibliographic and portfolio records and at the point of record creation setting them to use parser parameter linking, and populating the portfolio record parser parameters field with the relevant bkey value for that title. If we want to use local bibliographic and portfolio records and use parser parameter linking, our only option is to create the records using static URLs and then subsequently edit the records to use parser parameters.
Potential scenarios where we might want to load local bibliographic and portfolio records into an electronic collection using parser parameter linking:
- Where we are using a Community Zone electronic collection that uses parser parameter linking but there is no available record for a particular title so we are loading a local record.
- There is no suitable Community Zone electronic collection for a particular content set and we have created a local electronic collection, but we have copied over the parser parameter linking syntax from other Community Zone collections for content from that publisher on the same platform.
It would be an improvement if Alma allowed us to apply parser parameter linking at the point of loading and creating local records.

parser parameter linking necessary for Films on Demand using import profiles for multi-campus institutions
Films on Demand requires customer ID, and Marc records with static URLs cannot be shared by different colleges
