rfid: write AFI-value to the tag in item editor
Please write the secure AFI-Value, if a staff user use the button "write RFID and save" inside item-editor.
We use empty RFID-Tags. So we have to initialize the AFI-Value for each tag. Now we have to go into fulfillment area and return an item to write the secure value to the tag.
If in the item-editor the AFI-value would be written it helps a lot and save time.

Change the XML of exported portfolios
An exported portfolio from Alma looks like this:
<item type="electronic">
<title>Operations research.</title>
<title>Operations Research</title>
<issn>0030-364X</issn>
<coverage>
<from>
<year>1952</year>
<volume>1</volume>
<issue>1</issue>
</from>
<embargo>
<days_not_available>720</days_not_available>
</embargo>
</coverage>
<eissn>1526-5463</eissn>
<object_type>JOURNAL</object_type>
</item>However, that's not very clear. An ISSN element under an electronic item can be interpreted as the ISSN for the electronic publication.
A better structure would be something like this:
<item type="electronic">
<title>Operations research.</title>
<title>Operations Research</title>
<issn type="electronic">0030-364X</issn>
<issn type="print">1526-5463</issn>

A purchase request with the status "Approved" can be rejected (NOT deleted) and that this information is updated in My Library
Our proposal is that a purchase request with the status "Approved" can be rejected (NOT deleted) and that this information is updated in My Library (we want the user can see that their purchase request was rejected). The problem when you try to do this is that Alma warns that requests with status "Approved" can not be rejected.
Ideally, when the POL associated with the purchase request is canceled, Alma should automatically reject this request and it would be displayed in Primo-My Library. (for example, the provider says the book is out of stock)

Move the Level of service facet to the top of the facet list
Currently the Level of Service facet is at the base of the facet list, almost always hidden by the facets above it. I would like to see it moved to the top of the list as the timely processing of material for Rush or Express requests depends on being able to find those requests and action them quickly. As it is currently unless you specifically scroll down the list, you don't even know those requests have come in.

Ability to Modify Purchase Request Role
Our Library would like to be able to allow the purchase request form be limited by role, so that only some subset of our staff may begin the purchase request process.

Further define credits for patron fines
Fines often get exported through Bursar before a patron disputes them. Our lost item replacement fees and overdue fines get funneled into different accounts. The vague description for "credit" does not give our system any way to determine which account the credit should be adjusted from. (For example: A lost item replacement fee charge ends up in our materials budget once sent to the Bursar. The majority of credits are for materials returned after they were billed, so this is our default credit account. Since all credits are just defined as a "credit" when exported to the Bursar, credits for fines created in error or that were from a different budget still end up coming out of the materials budget.)
This could be greatly improved by adding additional Credit types rather than just "Credit" (such as "Credit Overdue Fine" and "Credit Replacement Fee")

Overdues
An alert function when items have gone overdue. Currently the requester will get sent overdue e-mails, but the library is not notified. When you have thousands of requests it is imposisble to search through.

Let every institution to configure due dates according loaning library (no only owning library).
We often loan items not in the owning library but in another one. In these cases, Alma assigns the due date according to the calendar of the owning library.
This causes that sometimes the due date is a closed day in the library where item will be returned (not owning library).
It would be good for us to configure Alma in order to assign due dates according to the calendar of the loaning library, not the owning library.22 votes -
Brief Record - Quick Cataloging Template
Boston College would like to see the contents of the linking tab of Electronic Portfolio Editor added to the Brief Record, Quick Cataloging template for electronic articles.
This will enable us to edit the URL and enable the proxy as we catalog and would save us the step of going in later to edit the linking information. It would also enable us to test the link before posting it, rather than using the "view it" function afterwards.

Why can we not have who activated a portfolio or collection in the history tab?
Several times I will come across a portfolio of collection and would like to be able to see who activated the resource. Since we have a history tab, why doesn't this show who activated?

Purge User Records - allow to keep users with Blocks
Right now the Purge User Records job does not delete users with active loans and users with a fee > than a specific threshold.
Users with active Blocks are instead deleted.
Adding to Purge User Records job an option allowing to keep the users with blocks would be very useful.85 votes -
Add normalized call number to the subject areas for fulfillment analytics
Right now the normalized call number option is available only when creating an analytics report under physical items. The ability for sorting by normalized call number would also be beneficial when creating analytics reports under the fulfillment section.

No items available for request due to policy- Show policy violated
When a request fails, an error message reads: "No items available for request due to policy." It would be very helpful if the error message included which policy prevents the request. With that information, I can easily tell the patron what prevents the request or fix a policy problem. Right now, I have to hunt the problem down in the fulfillment and/or configuration modules.

Add Note Option for Fines/Fees
We have several short-loan items that our patrons check out, and these items often generate small fines that are difficult to track whether or not a fine is legitimate, or if there may have been operator error.
For example, we circulate study rooms where a student may check out the room key, and a box of white board markers or a television remote. If the student returns the room key and white board markers on time, but not the remote, it's difficult to tell if that's valid.
Solution: Rather than emailing all staff that may need to interact with that patron in a dispute, we would like to be able to attach a note to the specific fine stating the reason the fine isn't being waived (e.g. the remote was left in the room and our staff found it at the end of the day). This leaves inboxes clear, removes any need to go digging through old emails, and creates access for new staff and student workers who may onboard after the original email.

Browsing Dewey in MD Editor
We noticed that in Metadata editor the browsing in the 676 - Dewey field isn't available: we would like add the feature to scroll the lists from other records, as happens for the 6xx fields (subjects) and 7xx (authors).
114 votesHello everyone,
Regarding the request for this idea, could you please provide more details on the use case? According to the MARC21 standard, the Dewey Decimal Classification Number is located in field 082, which is why we allow browsing of data from 082 $a and $b. Additionally, we have incorporated the Locally Assigned Dewey Call Number from field 092 $a and $b into this browsing option (full details can be found on the Alma online help page).
However, fields 676 and 410 according to the MARC21 standard are not Dewey fields.

search filters and better results display in the "search external resources" function
When we are searching WorldCat for a record to match a newly-ordered title, we often find duplicate records. The current search results display makes it difficult and time-consuming to choose the best record.
The external resources search would be much improved if we could limit search results by the language of cataloging (040 |b) and format. This would save us having to wade through multiple vendor records that aren't even in our local language of cataloging, and multiple records for resources in a format other than the one we are looking for.
It would save us a lot of time if the search results display showed the source of cataloging (040 |a |c) and the number of holdings in OCLC. These both help us choose the record we want to use. It is inconvenient to have to view each record to see its source, and as far as I can tell, there is no way in Alma to see the number of holdings on any WorldCat record.
Thanks for considering.

Post-migration portfolio urls remain even if changed afterwards
Post-migration side effect with created portfolios: the url from the bib is created in the new portfolio. This url remains in the portfolio even after it has been changed at a later date (not in an editable field; the url is also searchable even after it has been changed. So, old urls from a migrated system remain searchable and in the portfolio record even after editing. Change this behavior.

Waitlist functionality for short-term loans
It would be helpful to have a waitlist functionality for short-term loans (i.e. for reserve items). This would allow patrons to put their name on a list to be next in line once a short-term loan item has been returned. Alma would send an email/text to the patron when the item is returned telling the patron they have a specific window of time (e.g. 5 minutes, configurable by the institution) to check out the item. During that window of time no other patrons can check it out. After the window of time has expired the next person on the waitlist receives an email/text from Alma saying they can now check out the item.
For the circulation desk operator it would be helpful to have a waitlist page in Alma that displays which items are currently on the waitlist, how much time is left in each one before the window of time expires. This will help operators to know at a glance where all the waitlisted items are in the waitlist process. This waitlist system is different from a booking request because the waitlist does not require a patron to select the date and time of when they want an item. Instead, it is simply a list of names of patrons who want to be next in line when an item arrives. The waitlist functionality would only be available when an item is checked out; a patron can't put their name on the waitlist if the item is on the shelf.
Ideally the waitlist function could be done by both staff and patrons, but this should be up to the Alma institution. The institution can decide whether to turn waitlist function on at all. If they turn it on, it will at a minimum be administered by staff. Additionally, they can decide to turn on a patron-facing side that allows patrons to add their names to the waitlist. Ex Libris has also developed an embargo period on loans, which means items can't be checked out to the same patron within a specified window of time. This is very helpful, but it is not the same thing as a waitlist functionality. We need a system that will let patrons get in line for a loan.

Vendors : simplify Contact information and People contact tabs
Hello,
Handle vendors in ALMA is pretty twisted and not user friendly !
We can understand the distinction between Vendor details (network level) and Vendor account details (institution level).
But why distinguish Contact information and People contact in two separate tabs ?
This makes us input twice same informations.Our request : to get one tab for all Contacts ; each contact would be distinguished by a specific frame with name, first name, job description, email, postal mail and phone nember. All display in one single screen.
If you share this request, VOTE.
