  1. Ability to add invoice line by scanning ISBN or Barcode

    Manually keying invoices, especially for LOTE books is difficult when you can't easily use the ISBN or shelf-ready barcode to bring up the POL to create the invoice line. The title on the invoice supplied by the vendor rarely matches how the title is imput in Alma in the POL, so that is an unreliable data point. ISBN and Barcode should also be options for searching for Order lines in a basic Order line search.

  2. Ability to show special characters in the MDE and the record view screen

    Sometimes, odd characters slip into a bib record that are hard to detect. It would be great if there was an option in the MDE to make them visible. For example, in Notepad++, there are options to show a CR for carriage return, to make spaces and tabs visible, etc. See: https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/views/#show-symbol - it would be nice to have such a functionality in Alma as well, both in the MDE as well as in the view record screen.

  3. Enhance Validation for Fixed-Length Control Fields to Control the Field Length

    Alma provides a MARC21 validation task called 'Validation Fixed Fields Positions MARC21,' but it does not include a check for the length. It would be useful to include a length check and to make it configurable whether a warning/error is generated (thus also adding a new exception to the validation exception profile). This should be available for all kinds of records that have fixed-length control fields and should take into account that e.g. in 008, the correct length differs for different types of material.

  4. Enable configuration options to only prevent renewal of overdue loans (while keeping non-overdue loans renewable)

    It isn't possible to prevent renewal of overdue loans without using a block, which also prevents renewal of non-overdue loans.

    We would like to be able to prevent loans that have become overdue from being renewed.

  5. In Search External Resources in the MDE, jump immediately to the view record screen if there is just one result

    When searching external resources in the MDE, it feels a bit redundant to click "View" when there's just one search result. I would prefer if you skipped directly to the view record screen in such cases. Additionally, could we consider presenting the metadata that was shown in the search results screen in a pop-up or a dedicated metadata section above the marc21 record?

  7. Abilty to edit the authorities from CZ

    In bibliographic records and in Browse Bibliographic Records you can check the information of the linked authority - also CZ authorities. The possibility to take the authority directly in edit mode, as you have the right to edit authorities of the CZ

  8. Delete bibliographic records - Limit Match of Bibliographic Records to a Specific Electronic Collection

    In scenarios where a vendor has provided ISBNs of titles they have removed from an e-book package but it is likely that the same titles are included in other e-book packages, it would be good to be able to limit the deletion to a specific electronic collection. This feature would have to recognise to only delete bibliographic records matching a specific collection where the records do not have active portfolios belonging to other electronic collections. Use case: ability to batch delete locally held e-book records from vendor A only if they are NOT also part of vendor B’s e-book package.

  9. Renewal Hour and Renewal Time in the Renewal Date folder on Fulfillment

    Hello,

    Some days ago one of our libraries asked for some hourly fulfillment reports. I then noticed that the "Renewal Date" folder does not have a "Renewal Hour" nor a "Renewal Time", as most of the other date folders have. Is it possible to add a "Renewal Hour" or "Renewal Time" to the "Renewal Date" folder?

  10. Preferred term correction - $3 (materials specified) reordering

    Preferred term correction reorders $3 (materials specified) in authority MARC fields gets reordered from the beginning of the field to the end of the field. $3 (materials specified) is meant to be at the beginning of the field for the purpose of display in library catalogs at the beginning. It seems that the preferred term correction is just moving it to be in numeric order. Taking time to correct this afterwards is unnecessary and should not be reordered in the first place. It should be added to the preferred term correction function not to reorder $3.

  11. Notes in POL's should only be for notes (not history)

    The notes tab in POL's for serials/journals should only be for notes that pertain to that order. When orders are set to automatic renewal, every year when it renews a note is added saying "PO Line has been renewed automatically". Over the years this note takes over and all of the pertinent notes are moved to the bottom. I am constantly having to remove those automatic renewal notes to keep the important notes at the top. The automatic renewal note should go into the history tab not the note tab.

  12. Overview of linked bibliographic records in chronological order

    When cataloging, it is beneficial for catalogers to view an overview of linked bibliographic records in chronological order, rather than solely in alphabetical order. This pertains to the presentation after selecting F3 - view - bibliographic records. Currently, there seems to be no option in Alma to change this presentation. While it is possible to search from authorities outside the Metadata Editor, this process is more time-consuming.

    Catalogers can work more efficiently if they can quickly determine whether an author/corporation, etc., is the correct one. Being able to promptly view the most recently published editions aids in this process.

  13. Analytics: Add Purchase Request Requester user information at the time of request

    The Purchase Request Subject Area Purchase Request Requester user information is updated every day by ETL to the current user information.
    In many cases, this is useful. But it is not useful for reporting when it is important to know the information of a user at the time of an action.

  14. Add Close Note to the Change PO Lines Status job

    We would like to add a Close Note when running the Change PO Lines Status to Close orders. Currently we can add a Cancellation Note but if we CLOSE a batch of orders (essentially cancelling continuation orders that have had receipts), there is no way to add a general note that populates all order lines. We have to manually add a note to each order.

  15. Make "Change expected date"-button available for unclaimed PO lines

    Currently, the function “Change Expected Date” is only available, when a PO line is in claim.

    However, it happens often, that vendors announce a delayed publishing date before a POL is claimed. It would be very practical, if in cases like these, the expected date could be changed via the button "Change Expected Date" as well, instead of having to open the POL > Edit > Change date > Save.

    It would save a few clicks and allow us to use the same workflow for the same task.

  16. Monitor Requests & Item Processes - Library Independence

    It is possible to cancel processes at libraries that you do not have any role at using the Monitor Requests & Item Processes screen. A cancel button appears next to every request.

    Patron physical item requests are correctly only visible based on your role but other processes such as work orders are visible and cancellable by all staff with access to the Monitor Requests & Item Processes page.

    Visibility is not a problem as the data isn't private, but the ability to cancel a process should be limited by the scope of the role.

  17. Pin your favourite vendors

    We would like the ability to 'pin' favourite vendors to the top of the Search Vendors list.

    Staff are going into a couple of vendor records to occasionally run manual EDI import jobs. Rather than search for the vendor (which brings up the 'Search Vendors' screen) and then click on the vendor, staff want to be able to enter the Search Vendors list by clicking on a bookmarked link (which is currently possible), and then see their favourite vendors at the top of the list (which is currently not possible).

  18. Don't link unauthorized headings based on 008 14-16

    Alma should take into account positions 14-16 of the 008 of the authority record when "deciding" if it should link to and update a biographic heading.

    In the case of the main entry if position 14 is not "b" then make the link and update. If it is "b" it should not link and update.
    In the case of a subject entry if position 15 is not "b" then make the link and update. If it is "b" it should not link and update.

  19. Make it possible to activate a portfolio without making the the whole collection active

    I often find portfolios in other collections that I do not have active. I activate it and then move it to our active collection. The collection it was moved from then is in our alma without active portfolios.
