  1. Show Job category in the Manage Patron Services screen

In our library patron accounts for Alma are imported from an external patron registration system, including Job categories. Nice. But in Alma the Job category is not shown in the Manage Patron Services screen. We would like to have it show.

  2. Add statistics notes and physical condition fields to Scan In Messages Configuration table

Information about the physical condition is sometimes important when loaning items. It would not be necessary to duplicate information in other fields.

  3. Include submitter name with Report to Ex Libris form

Any Alma user who can access the action menu of a portfolio or electronic collection can submit the Report to Ex Libris form, but the Salesforce case is opened with the CRM contact chosen on the form. Unless the submitter includes their own name in the form's description field, it becomes impossible for the CRM contact to determine who opened the Salesforce ticket.

Please include the name or primary ID of the logged-in Alma user in the Salesforce ticket. This will facilitate follow-up with the staff member who reported the issue.

  4. Support full SIP2 protocol

For the communication between selfcheck kiosks and Alma, the SIP2 protocol is needed.
The full protocol can be found here: https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/3M-Standard-Interchange-Protocol-Version-2.00.pdf

Unfortunately, Ex Libris does not support all fields that would be available in the protocol (marked as 'not supported' in this document): https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/alma/integrations/selfcheck/sip2/

Please make the whole SIP2 protocol available for Alma.

  5. Prevent aggregation of fields in digital uploads

When using the Digital Uploader tool in Alma to import records with MARC data, the uploader aggregates fields with the same MARC tags into a single resulting field once the upload is complete. For example, if a record has multiple 650 fields in an uploaded Excel field, the imported record in Alma has a single 650 field with all of the values that were (in the sheet) separated into different 650 fields. Per Ex Libris documentation (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/040Resource_Management/060Record_Import/075Importing_Records_with_CSV_or_Excel_Files), “Repeating fields with the same subfields and indicators cannot be imported. When the import process encounters multiple columns with the same…

  6. Add Barcode as option for searching within the Receive New Materials list

We are too small of an institution to use the workflow of Keep in Dept, so we receive the item once all processing is completed and the item is ready to go into the stacks. We do it this way to prevent Alma from sending availability notices until the material is truly ready for use. Having a barcode search option will make this process a lot easier and reduce errors.

  7. Attach multiple courses/sections to a reading list more quickly

We use a single reading list for many sections of a course, and also reuse these reading lists from semester to semester. Attaching courses to a preexisting reading list is a very slow process which must be done one at a time. I'd love in the reading list courses tab, when you click "Associate Course" and then "Select from List", you were given the option of a checkbox so that many course sections could be added to a reading list at once.

Alternatively, in bulk upload of courses, if you can attach a NEW course to an existing reading list,…

  8. Overlap Analysis reports

These reports would and should utilize and contain within them subject headings and subject areas. It seems like it would be a very useful functionality for staff to make use of subject headings for comparison to other vendors' reports who use subject headings/terms while doing an overlap analysis. When trying to compare CZ electronic collections to our IZ collections, it would be good to know which subject coverage area and date range each matched portfolio has.

  9. Scan-in items to create an Itemized Set

For many of our workflows, we have a large batch of physical materials upon which we need to perform a bulk action (e.g. place them all on a Work Order or request a Permanent Location change, etc.) The items are on book trucks and there is no Set upon which to Run a Job unless we create a new one every time as a TXT or CSV file, which then has to be uploaded to Alma. It would save a lot of confusion, plus work and training time for staff and student workers, if it was possible to use Scan-In…

  10. Reduce the number of recurring order types.

The number of recurring order types is confusing and causes issues not only when ordering new serials but when processing them. Even Ex Libris staff often have trouble explaining the differences between standing order types and if we need to change an order type someone with the authorization has to run a job. The operational differences don't make sense. Reports can easily distinguish between different order types from the Material type and Reporting Codes fields.
This change would make recurring order management much simpler and more efficient.

  11. Add Library Filter to Create Fulfillment Sets

The Create Fulfillment Sets functionality would be so much more useful if we could choose to create sets by Library rather than by the whole institution.

It's a very rare case to want to see Overdue, Lost, or Claimed Returned items for a whole institution and having to export the data into a spreadsheet in order to filter the results is very time consuming.

  12. Display logic rules: always allow use of "OPEN_ACCESS" criteria

Currently, if Alma's enableopenaccessservicesfromunpaywallapi Fulfillment setting = true, then in Display Logic Rules we gain the ability to write rule criteria that considers the presence of open access service links. If the fulfillment setting = false, that DLR option disappears.
We assume this connection was made at a time when the Unpaywall API setting was the only way that OA services might get into Primo, so there was no need for OA services to be a criteria in DLRs when the Unpaywall API was turned off.
However, we've found that the new Unpaywall CZ…

  13. When CZ update "Portfolio bibliographic record updated" runs, if POL is attached to portfolio & bib, automatically move POL to new bib

When we order a portfolio, the PO Line attaches to both the portfolio and the bibliographic record attached to the portfolio (this is good; it's how Alma works by design). Every week, there are numerous "Portfolio bibliographic record updated" tasks on the CZ Updates Task List. This means that the portfolio has moved to a different bib record. When "Portfolio bibliographic record updated" happens, the portfolio moves to a new bib. The POL remains attached to the portfolio (which is good!). However, the POL is not moved to the new bib record; it remains attached to the old bib record.…

  14. Allow a block to be created as part of the 'change to lost' overdue and lost loan profiles.

We'd like the ability to create a block when an item is made 'lost' as part of the overdue and lost loan profile schedules.

At the moment we can only add a block on the overdue notification types, which we do for the last overdue notification we send before it becomes considered lost.

However, as soon as the item is changed to lost by the profile schedule it removes the block automatically created by the overdue notification profile.

The advantage of using the profile block is that they are automatically removed if the item is renewed or returned and we…

  15. Creating an invoice without PO number as invoice number

Now when I create a new invoice from PO, then at the tab Summary there is automatically filled a PO number as an invoice number. We would appriciate some setting which would cause that this field wouldn't be filled out automatically and would stay empty. Our librarians are using other invoice numbers and current setting of Alma is leading to errors because sometime the librarian forgets to change the invoice number. We would appriciate if Alma wouldn't filled out the invoice number automatically with PO number. We would like only a warning by saving the invoice that the invoice number…

  16. Stop "User manager" role's ability to add and delete Alma administrator roles

Ideally, there shall be a separation of managing patron users and managing staff users. If that is not possible, please make it impossible for people with "user manager" role to add and delete administrator roles.

  17. Set continuing orders not to claim

There are some continuing orders for which we do not "receive" every item, such as newspapers that will be discarded after several weeks. It would be great if PO lines had an option to indicate that they should not be claimed. They end up cluttering up the Claims list and making the list harder to work with, when we are never going to claim or receive those issues. We also can't set up automatic claiming because we don't want emails sent for these titles.

  18. Expand the functionality of the new labels for PO Lines

Hello! We're starting to implement labels for PO lines in the new user interface. There seem to be two major features that would vastly improve their functionality:

    1. Analytics indexing
    2. Ability to add labels in bulk via the Update PO Lines Information job (not just via advanced search).

Our use case is that we're using labels for those POLs which need to be manually encumbered or adjusted after the fiscal period rollover. This could be because we pre-paid for multiple years or because of a multi-year agreement. Each future fiscal year gets a label (FY-2025, FY-2026, etc.) so we can search…

  19. Add support for System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) standard

System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) is a standard for automating the exchange of user identity information between identity domains, or IT systems. Supporting this standard would allow for better automation and SIS integration for institutions using Alma.

  20. Ability to create true temporary "on the fly" items that disappear

The "quick cataloging" in fulfillment is fine for items that are expected to be shunted to technical services after they are returned, but some items, like journals that don't normally circulate, don't need to be processed after, just returned to the shelf. There should be a true "on the fly" process that creates a temporary record that is automatically deleted once the item is scanned back in.
