Support Processing System Control Number (035) Updates in Imported Authority Record Updates
Currently, Alma's authority-control jobs do not process updates to MARC21 authority tag 035 (System Control Number) when the update occurs via an authority import profile as the update of an existing record, i.e. there is a match between the existing authority record in Alma and the incoming authority record via the authority import profile. In contrast, the update is processed when there is no match with an existing record, i.e. the record is new to Alma, or, when the authority record has been updated manually via the MDE.
This was clarified by Ex Libris in a support ticket (case 07255325). According to that explanation, the workflow for updating automatically bibliographic records based on updated authority records (in case of ID-based authority linking and local authority records) - https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Product_Documentation/010Alma_Online_Help_(English)/Metadata_Management/060Working_with_Authority_Records#Updating_the_Authority_Record_ID_Automatically_in_Bibliographic_Records - only applies when the imported record is new to Alma, but not when an update to an existing authority record is concerned.
This is a severe limitation of the current design in Alma that prevents the automatic handling of authority record merges, which involve, in the authority record, the addition of 035 $z (canceled system control number) and in the bib record the replacement of $0 in authority-controlled fields and the update of those authority-controlled fields based on the updated $0.
One possible workaround is to manually modify tag 035 in the authority record after the imported authority record update, e.g. by adding "035 $a0", so that authority-control jobs will process the tag anew. An alternative workaround is to delete the existing authority record in Alma before the import, allowing the updated record to be treated as new and processed by Alma's authority-control jobs. However, both workarounds require manual intervention, which undermines the idea of library automation.
We request that Alma processes updates to tag 035 even when the incoming authority record is an update rather than a new record. This enhancement reduces the need for manual intervention and improves the efficiency of authority control in Alma.

Set colour layout depending on physical location
If you are working on a project in acquisitions and someone comes to the desk to check out a book, the acquisitions project must be scuttled in order to switch over to fulfillment. It would be great to have access to both desks at once (https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/48521747) and additionally to this, to have an option to configure the color of Alma depending on the desk you are working with. This helps to recognize at a glance which applications are available.

Improve Library Only Note field in reading lists
We would like to propose the addition of the Library-only note field in Alma to the panel on the right side of the reading list page. We would like to propose a modification to the Library Type note in Alma to improve workflow efficiency. We would like this note to appear in the Reading List Information panel or the panel where the 'view in Leganto' link can be found, rather than in the Notes tab. This should be editable directly from the panel to allow Library staff to add comments or further information related to a list (e.g. summary of communication with tutors, details on item availability, etc.). It would be like the "receiving note" field in POLs, but for reading lists.
This change would streamline processes by making key information more visible and accessible, which would facilitate handovers and tracking of known issues.

Add Ability to Exclude Holdings Records from LHR Publishing to OCLC When Holding/Bib Records Are Suppressed from Discovery
Currently, Alma's LHR Publishing job for OCLC does not exclude holdings records from publishing when the holdings record or the related bibliographic record is suppressed from discovery.
We request the addition of an option in the LHR publishing job to exclude such holdings records from publishing to OCLC. This functionality is particularly important for suppressed holdings records, as the management tag for publishing to OCLC is set at the bibliographic level. Currently, if a bib record contains two holdings records, it is not possible to publish one holding to OCLC while excluding the other.

Dreams of Growth The Final Exam Journey
Lena had always been anxious about exams, but this time, it was different. In the days leading up to her high-stakes final, she began having vivid dreams. Each night, she relived moments from the past year—times when she struggled, failed, and learned. She saw herself pushing through challenges, asking for help, and growing stronger with each setback. One dream even led her to a ghostwriting company where she learned the importance of collaboration and research. These dreams transformed her mindset. When the day of the exam arrived, Lena walked in with confidence, knowing she had already passed the toughest tests.

Ability to add labels while creating set
It would be very useful to be able to add labels to sets when they are created. Currently you have to save your set and only then you can add a label.

In House Use Function
There needs to be a separate function for 'In-House Use'. Scan-ins for activating Holds and the Return function are being too easily conflated in our In house use statistics. For example we have Kiosks that periodically scan all of the books inside the kiosk and each time it detects an RFID tag it scans in the item which then registers it as an in-house use. Also, staff may scan in an item that they are unsure about which registers it as an In House use. All of this renders In-house use statistics unreliable. The only remedy for this is a separate function that staff selects to Register an In-House Use.

Display NZ activated Portfolios even if Related Records Services are enabled in an IZ
In our consortial environement, we have activaded a number of portfolios on NZ level, which we would then expect to also be available in our IZs. Often this is not the case and instead of a specific article that is part of the portfolio, only the journal it belongs to is displayed under Services for Related Titles. As Ex Libris informed us, this is because Related Records Services are activated in our consortium, which leads the link resolver to display those related journals instead of checking if there is an NZ activated portfolio. Their solution to this would be to also activate the portfolio in the IZ. As this defeats the purpose of having the portfolio activated in the NZ for all, we would like to see this behaviour changed, so that the link resolver checks for both related records and NZ activations, though care should be taken that it does not display the same record as related record and NZ record at the same time.

Add an ability to change the "owning library" at acquisitions level
Organizational mergers or splits of libraries can occur at any time, necessitating the management of changes in the library landscape even after the migration process.
They involve the transfer of collections and data between libraries. While Alma supports the transfers of holding and item information between libraries, there are currently (as of Dec‘24) technical limitations when it comes to moving acquisitions data. This functionality is not yet supported by Alma.
We therefore propose implementing a solution that facilitates the seamless transfer of purchase orders, invoices, as well as linked vendor data and budget transactions between (owning) libraries within Alma. There should also be a support for various acquisition types (e.g., gifts, exchanges)
For detailed information and considerations, see the appendixes.

Add number of requested pages of a Digitization Request to Analytics
In Alma a digitization request shows a note field containing the Start page and End page as submitted via the request form.
This information doesn't appear in Analytics.
We would like to be able to report on the number of pages requested for digitization.18 votes -
Add a "Pick up location" line under the "Pick Up Requested Resources" columns
For institutions with multiple campuses that share items, there is no way to see what the pick-up location for an item is on the Pickup Requested Resources page. you must export the data to excel, print it out, process the hold, or search for the item's request separately. This creates a lot of unnecessary steps for such simple information and makes it difficult for institutions that track item movement between campuses. My suggestion is to add a line in the columns under each request that states what the pick-up location is. View files to see example. Thank you

Option to NOT receive ticket updates 'Report to ExLibris'
Add a 'Report to ExLibris' option to NOT receive ticket updates.
Use case: I report that an ebook title in a huge Open Access collection is, in fact, not open access. I view this as a standard cleanup task. We've likely already suppressed the record from our catalog and don't need to track the ticket or receive updates. It generates many unnecessary emails.3 votes -
Additional Local Parameter fields in Local Authorities dimension
There can be up to 100 local fields 9xx in the "Local Authorities" and none of them can be retrieved in Analytics. Could it be possible to have, at least, the same number of "Local Params" as in the he "Physical Items" or the "Titles" table?

Search function in Monitor Jobs Menu
In the menu "Monitor Jobs" (Admin -> Manage Jobs and Sets -> Monitor Jobs) there is no search function for the Scheduled Jobs. For all other Tabs (Scheduled Manual Jobs ; Running ; History) there is a search function. As we have many Scheduled Jobs it would be very useful if a search function could be implemented as in the other tabs.

Quick Links for Alma Cloud Apps
The quick links (available through the "Alma Production" button) for the most used functions in Alma are very usefull. We would appreciate if Alma Cloud Apps could also be selected as favourites and saved as quick links. It would also be great, if selected Cloud Apps could also be accessed with a key board shortcut (hot key).

Include in webhooks information on which user triggered the event (especially for items and users)
There are numerous scenarios where knowing which user performed the action that triggered the webhook would be useful, like selectively acting on triggers based on permissions and automatic staff error handling. Currently webhooks only include whether the action was performed in the UI or not.

Enable forcing barcode number for new items
When cataloguing a new item, we wish to force cataloguers to add barcode number before save. If some libraries do not want that, forcing the barcode field could be optional.

Allow POL and INV Line 'Save' with errors. NOT 'Save and Continue'--just 'Save'.
We occasionally need to create a POL on the fly, and before I've set up the relevant fund--usually because a vendor needs a POL number right away, but information in hand can be incomplete for other reasons as well.
'Save and Continue' should remain totally impossible without mandatory fields completed, but it's annoying to have to re-start work from scratch when I realize I'm missing a bit of info, e.g. price or fund. As it is, I usually just throw in a fake price and an existing fund as a placeholder, but those just blend in if I get de-railed midstream.
If it were possible to leave blanks on initial 'Save', the info already entered would not have to be re-typed, and such orders, if not completed immediately, would be easy to i.d. through an Analytics query if the operator (not always me) got diverted .
