  1. Update import profiles, so portfolios are listed in ALMA & Primo in the same order as the 856 fields in the bibliographic record

    Currently electronic portfolios are generated from the 856 fields in the bibliographic record, but they appear in reverse order in ALMA and Primo. Vendors often have 856 for multiple volumes in their records and they often list URLs in the order of their importance. In my attached example, the vendor includes a link to browse the particle resource first, then links to search the collections which contains the resource. The links are listed in order of importance. It is confusing to the user to list v.2 before v.1 and less important searching options before the most direct way of access…

  2. Improve the management of license terms in config

    Currently to manage the order and organization of license terms in Alma, we have to number each term we wish to use in order. If we want to add or reorder, we need to carefully renumber the existing terms so we don't accidentally use the same number twice and risk overwriting existing terms. While we've all learned work-arounds for this, given the amount of work it takes to maintain our hundreds of licenses, it seems risky to have this form of ordering. It would be much better to have the functionality that appears elsewhere in Alma that allows for lines…

  3. Option to define another set of records to be included in the Database search

    The database search in Primo includes only electronic collections with collection type “database” or electronic collections with a collection level URL and an unsuppressed bibliographic record.
    Even though you can change the electronic material type of a portfolio to “database” these titles can’t be searched through the database search. This means we have to add local database collections even though the title can be activated through the community zone.
    An example is the electronic collection “De Gruyter Databases”. I should like to be able to include these in the database search.

  4. Common link between a POL and a License (for updating collections)

    A POL has a licence connected to it. It would be great if when adding that POL to an Alma Collection, that the connecting licence would be automatically added to the collection as well. And working in reverse, when adding a licence to an Alma collection, it would be nice if the POL connected to the licence was automatically added to the collection as well (thus saving time adding two things to a collection, when they are already related).

  5. Support local portfolio record creation using parser parameter linking

    Alma electronic collections offer ‘parser parameter’ linking as an alternative to static URLs. Community Zone electronic collections generally use parser parameter linking. Currently there is no way of creating local bibliographic and portfolio records and at the point of record creation setting them to use parser parameter linking, and populating the portfolio record parser parameters field with the relevant bkey value for that title.  If we want to use local bibliographic and portfolio records and use parser parameter linking, our only option is to create the records using static URLs and then subsequently edit the records to use parser parameters.

  6. Include "Dismiss Selected" button on the bottom of the page

    When scrolling through the Community Zone Updates Task List, you need to scroll back up to the top of the page to click the "Dismiss Selected" button. It would be most helpful if the same function could be applied at the bottom of the page as well.

  7. Electronic Material Types - Need for more options.

    Unlike the Physical Item Material Types, Electronic Material Types are limited because they are hardcoded. However, the list that is provided by Ex Libris does not give us enough granularity. For instance, at our institution, we have senior theses that are deposited into our institutional repository. However, when you create the portfolio and select the Electronic Material Type there is no option for either “Bachelor’s Thesis” or a generic “Thesis”. Instead, they only provide “Dissertation” or “Master Thesis” there is no option for a Bachelor’s of Senior project. Therefore, we are forced to select Book which is inaccurate.

    This would…

  9. Ability to delete all parser override values using change portfolio job

    Currently, it's not possible to remove parser override values using the change portfolio job. This would be helpful when clearing those values from a collection of portfolios after the CZ portfolios have been updated by Ex Libris.

  11. Using load portfolios in a collection to update POL link

    We currently use the Load Portfolios tool in the Electronic service to update portfolio information. We have found this won't update the PO Line information in the Acquisition tab of the Portfolio. It is included in the data in an extended export of portfolio information, but does any changes/additions made to this field in the spreadsheet are not reflected in Alma when it is loaded.

    We would like to be able to add/change this information using the Load portfolios tool.

    A recent example of where this would be useful was a number of portfolios were incorrectly deleted from a collection.…

  12. Prevent deletion of portfolios with access type perpetual or current plus perpetual

    When deleting portfolios individually or through a batch process, add a feature to flag/warn about portfolios with perpetual or current plus perpetual for the access type before they are deleted. It could be similar to the message and process you run into upon trying to delete a portfolio with an active po line or a physical holding with an active po line. My library's portfolios attached to larger collections often do not have PO lines (as much of this work was done in our former library system prior to Alma migration). Adding a perpetual access type to portfolios is relatively…

  13. Add Electronic Collection Information to the Bib Record Enrichment Fields in the OAI Publishing Profile

    Problem - Database type electronic collections are not getting published to Blacklight in the OAI publishing job. So bibliographic records that have database type electronic collection inventory attached, display as records without inventory in the catalog.

    Situation as described by Ex Libris - The OAI publishing profile is designed to publish the BIB record plus the enrichment fields. The Collection enrichment in the profile is for the Digital Collection, not the Electronic collection. The descriptive BIB record does not have Electronic collection as its inventory, the inventory is only Physical/Electronic/Digital. Adding Electronic Collection to the descriptive BIBs would be an…

  15. A new Community Zone Updates Task List report for when a portfolio changes vendors

    CZ updates task list does not show titles switching from one vendor to another - that is a big issue for us. Eg. Philosophy of science changed from University of Chicago Press to Cambridge University. The portfolio URL is still Chicago Press, but one is redirected to Cambridge University.
    Finding info in CZ updates is extraordinarily difficult. Mostly because there are thousands of titles we don't have any reason to look at.
    It would be very helpful to be able to search the list by ISSN and OCLC number as well.
    It would be helpful to have a report indicating…

  16. Add Day or Week embargo option

    When setting Coverage Information, current embargo options are to enter a number of months or years. Some publishers have a 2 week, or 14 day embargo; we cannot enter embargo information for these. Adding a Day and/or Week option would allow this information to be added.

  17. Change the XML of exported portfolios

    An exported portfolio from Alma looks like this:

    <item type="electronic">
    <title>Operations research.</title>
    <title>Operations Research</title>
    <issn>0030-364X</issn>
    <coverage>
    <from>
    <year>1952</year>
    <volume>1</volume>
    <issue>1</issue>
    </from>
    <embargo>
    <days_not_available>720</days_not_available>
    </embargo>
    </coverage>
    <eissn>1526-5463</eissn>
    <object_type>JOURNAL</object_type>
    </item>

    However, that's not very clear. An ISSN element under an electronic item can be interpreted as the ISSN for the electronic publication.

    A better structure would be something like this:

    <item type="electronic">
    <title>Operations research.</title>
    <title>Operations Research</title>
    <issn type="electronic">0030-364X</issn>
    <issn type="print">1526-5463</issn>
    <issn-l>1526-5463</issn-l>
    <coverage>
    <from>
    <year>1952</year>
    <volume>1</volume>
    <issue>1</issue>
    </from>
    <embargo>
    <days_not_available>720</days_not_available>
    </embargo>
    </coverage>
    <object_type>JOURNAL</object_type>
    </item>

  18. KBART export from Alma to include title level URL

    As we from time to time need to interface with software and services outside the ExLibris suite, it would be great if the KBART Schema for export would include a proper title level URL as specified in the KBART Recommended Practice:

    "[Title level URL] Indicate the URL of the title’s homepage.
    For journals, this page should be a listing of the available volumes and issues. "

  19. POLs are not closed when Proquest Ebook Central Electronic Ressource is activated by Autoload

    We are using Autoload with Proquest Ebook Central. When we create a POL for a Proquest title and connect this POL with the portfolio which came per Autoload and pay the invoice, the POL remains in Status "Sent". It has the Activation status: Activated E-Ressource", but the warning "Electronic Resource was not activated". Now we have to go to the portfolio per the electronic portfolio search, select "Create E-activation task", then go to the electronic resources activation task list entry for this resource and select "Done" to make this alert disappear. This also closes the PO Line, but this workflow…

  20. Upload electronic holdings job: Add vendor's name information

    The name of the vendor is missing in the "Upload electronic holdings job" report.
    We can only see the name of the integration type.
    To identify the vendor, we have thus to remember the name of the vendors concerned by this integration profile (at this time, Elsevier or Ovid) and the date of the processing job.
    As new integration profiles are planned for other vendors (Proquest, Springer,...), this will be no more manageable.
    Thus, we would like to see the vendor name in all useful places (reports, "Monitor job" page, "Scheduled job status")
