  1. Portfolio loader and Multiple MMS

When we load portfolios through the Portfolio Loader, Alma attempts to find a match based on the identifier in the Community Zone, in order to get the bibliographic records for the portfolios.
When there are multiple MMS records in the CZ that match the searched identifiers, you get an error and no portfolio is loaded. Currently, there is no internal logic for the portfolio loader to choose between these records, even if some have no inventory at all.
it would be useful to implement a logic that allow to choose between records, at least in the case that some have…

  2. Add purchase model to more auto-holdings.

It is great to have purchase model added automatically for Ebook Central og JSTOR Books holdings, and it would be even better if we could get purchase model also when using auto-holdings for publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor & Francis and de Gruyter. We have evidence based acquisition agreements with all of these publishers and it would be very helpful if we could see which titles were in the EBA corpus and which we have purchased, either through the EBA or by earlier collection purchases.

  3. Consistent use of first ISBN in MARC field 020 for electronic resources in Alma

Right now which ISBN is displayed/taken for export relating to e-resources is rather inconsistent in Alma:

.) In the results list of an All Titles search the first ISBN of MARC field 020 is displayed and subsequently used for Excel export.
.) In the results list of an Electronic Portfolio search the second ISBN of MARC field 020 is displayed (if there is one) and subsequently used for Excel export.
.) In the portfolio list of an electronic collection the second ISBN of MARC field 020 is displayed (if there is one).
.) On the portfolio tab of the Electronic…

  4. replace "Do not show as Full Text available in CDI even if active in Alma" with a pair of show local / show CDI checkboxes

To avoid duplicates when we have both local portfolios and CDI records, we can rely on the "Do not show as Full Text available in CDI even if active in Alma".
Enabling this feature will show in Primo local IZ portfolios, and is very good when local records are rich and CZ records are limited/poor.
Sometimes however CDI records are richer and provide indexing at chapter level. In such a case we would like to hide IZ local portfolios and show CDI records instead.
It would be therefore useful and clearer to replace the "Do not show as Full Text…

  5. Update Customer Linking Parameters in Bulk via E-Collection Quick Update Cloud App

Please add the ability to update customer linking parameters (such as the Gale location ID) in bulk via the E-Collection Quick Update Cloud App.

As Ex Libris moves away from centrally configuring linking parameters for different interfaces, it would save so much time to be able to do this in bulk via the cloud app.

  6. Display “Service unavailability display message” at Collection Level in Primo

Currently, the “Service unavailability display message” is only shown at the Journal and article level in Primo. It would be highly beneficial to extend this functionality to the collection level as well. This enhancement would provide users with clearer information about service availability, improving their overall experience and reducing confusion when accessing collections.

  7. Additional Exportable Fields

When viewing electronic collection results, after a search, we would like the ability to export several additional fields: Alternative Title, General note (electronic collection), and General note (Service). This would allow our consortium to do some real-time analysis of how multiple collections are setup which would save significant time over having to click into each electronic collection individually.

  8. Display Open Access Indicator based on Setting at the Portfolio Level

Currently, the Open Access (OA) indicator displays in Community Zone records when the record contains a 506 field with the following formatting:

    506 0_ $f Unrestricted online access $2 star

Records in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) collection are automatically enriched with this data, but not records in any other collection. The rationale is that the OA indicator may appear on records that are not available as OA in all collections, leading to a confusing display. However, this can lead to cases where institutions do have OA access, but cannot display the OA indicator.

    To avoid both of…

  9. Add Electronic Service Information Update Job

Electronic Portfolios and Electronic Collections each have an Information Update job in Alma. Electronic services need the same functionality because they are also affected in bulk by changes.

Job Name: Change Electronic service information
Job Description: Update Electronic service information for a set of Electronic services
    Job Content Type: Electronic Service
    Job Type: Information Update

Use Case: ProQuest began requiring a value for the CLIENTID parameter in the Linking Parser Parameters section of all ProQuest electronic services. With over 50 ProQuest electronic collections activated, that meant that over 50 electronic services had to be manually edited one at a time…

  10. When creating a new local portfolio generates a new bib record, the portfolio's material type should determine the bib's material type.

ExL documentation states, "When creating a new bibliographic record, the portfolio material is not taken into account. Thus, when you add a local portfolio and set a specific electronic material type, a bibliographic record is also created, but with 'Book' as the material, regardless of the portfolio's material. When adding ISSN, the material remains to be 'Book'. "

This is imprecise and creates issues for discovery: when I create a new portfolio for a Kanopy video and select Electronic Material Type=Streaming Video, the bib record is encoded for a book. So in Primo, the video's Resource Type shows as book,…

  11. Autoload collections – Better identification

Autoload collections are not always clearly identified in Alma. The default name of the collection does not always mention this information and there is no specific tag which can be searched or displayed in the CZ releases reports. This can be the source of useless changes by EIO or creation of cases.
We do not want to add terms like ‘AutoHoldings’ or ‘Autoload’ in the public name of the collection as this is not an useful information for end-users on Primo.

It would thus be very useful to tag these collections with the mention ”Autoload” in the Alma collection search…

  12. Implement Automatic Upload of Electronic Holdings for Perlego eBooks

Implement auto holdings (autoholding, automatic upload of e-holdings) for Perlego eBooks.

This will allow for automatic update of the collection based on most recent institutional holdings file received from Perlego.

As is already available for ProQuest, Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, and other publishers.

  13. Allow Alma users to choose the match routine when using the ‘Link to Community’ tool to link portfolios to a community zone collection.

The ‘Link to Community’ match routine for matching local portfolios to the CZ is too restrictive. We would like to be able to use our local bibliographic records and have them link to portfolios in the CZ, however, the match rate is dependent on what metadata is available in the CZ records, which are often brief and do not contain the ISSN/ISBN match point that Ex Libris has selected for that collection in the CZ.
Alma users should be able to choose the match routine when using the ‘Link to Community’ tool, similar to how we can choose the match…

  14. Create functionality to remove portfolio General Note entries using the Portfolio Loader or the Change Portfolio Information Job

Currently, there isn't a way to remove General Note entries in batch. It would be ideal if there were a way to remove General Note entries using either the Portfolio Loader or the Update Portfolio Information job, instead of having to do this work manually.

  15. Expand "full text"

Currently "full text" is limited to first 65K characters of an article or of a complete [!] book (along with chapter abstracts only). Thus tweak results to full text is misleading. For articles, entering from google scholar may circumvent the problem partially. For books, true research now requires search full text (possibly not available or only available in snippet view) in google books for finding the required source and pages, then searching the discovery for the book for electronic access, similar to finding a physical book.
True full text is strongly required.

  16. "Peer review" indication for academic books

Currently, there is a limiter in discovery to "Peer-reviewed articles" but using this limiter does not bring results from books even by the most celebrated academic publishers. While this information arrives from vendors, it should be a way to search peer-reviewed publications that would exclude magazines but include both peer-reviewed journals and books (or book chpaters) by any academic press.

  17. Display collection "Public Name" instead of "Public name (override)" in Import Profile Details

We repeat the use of "Public name (override)" to aggregate several local collections under the same heading in our discovery layer. In the example I am dealing with, we use "Project Muse eBooks", but have separate collections for each year of titles. The import profile that we use to load these titles displays the override name, which means that I am unable to tell which collection we are loading into without editing the profile and selecting a collection anew.

I would love it if we could use the "Public Name" of the collection in Inventory Information tab of the import…

  18. Add Available From/To dates (in General Tab) to Extended Export/Portfolio loader

The Available From/To fields in the portfolios general tab are currently not included in the portfolio extended export. Nor is it possible to populate the fields using the portfolio loader spreadsheet.
This makes it impossible to identify if these fields are populated in a portfolio without using Analytics. These fields should be included in Extended Export to make it easier to find, and should be available for the Portfolio Loader to make it easier to populate.

  19. Add an API access for creating a task in the Electronic Resource Activation Task List

We would like to set up an automatized workflow to import records and el. inventory into Alma. It would help in the daily management of these imports, if we could create a task for the e-resource staff via the API once the import finishes.

We would like to have a way to use the API to generate a new task in the Electronic Resource Activation Task List for an electronic collection or an electronic portfolio.

  20. PDA import profiles for electronic titles - limit matching to specific electronic collection

The ability to limit matching of imported MARC record against existing records with portfolios in a selected electronic collection was release for repository import profiles in the Feb 2024 release in response to a previous Ideas Exchange submission:
    https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173-alma/suggestions/15312516-repository-import-profiles-for-electronic-titles

Echoing the comments added to that Ideas Exchange post following the release, it would be really helpful if the same functionality could be release for PDA import profiles too, for the same reasons originally stated.
