Add "Delete or replace URL's SUFFIX" to Job "Change Electronic portfolio information"
Sometimes it is necassary to change or delete the URL in portfolio information for a set of portfolios. It is possible to delete or replace URL's prefix in Electronic Portfolio information, but it is not yet possible to delete or repclace url's suffix .
For us it would be very useful to have both opportunities.
Now in Alma a new option is available to edit static URL suffix in bulk, using the "Change Electronic Portfolio Information" and "Change Electronic Collection Information" jobs.
For more information, see Manual Jobs.

At the moment we do not have any case where it would be necessary to delete a suffix, but maybe in future it could be helpful in case information in the suffix change.

Earlier this year we wanted to change thousands of portfolio URLs from the old syntax:
http://opacplus.bsb-muenchen.de/title/[ZDB-ID]
to the new syntax:
https://www.digitale-sammlungen.de/search?query=manifestation_id%3A%22ZDB%7C[ZDB-ID]%7C%22&sortField=date&sortOrder=asc&handler=simple-metadataIt would have been possible to change the part before [ZDB-ID] by job, but we could not add the new suffix by job.
We finally managed to carry out this change with the Portfolio Loader. But it would be a welcome improvement if this could also be done with the "Change Electronic portfolio information" job.If I don't miss anything, with the Portfolio Loader one can only change portfolios within a certain collection. The job would allow to change portfolios of any set, no matter to which collection they belong to.
Best regards,

Thanks for this clarification! that's very very helpful. So as I understand the need is mainly for adding (and possibly editing) new suffixes, not removing existing ones. Unless you've got an example of when you need to delete a suffix?

Our major use case at this time would be the linking to the Juris legal database. For example, the link https://www.juris.de/perma?d=clarice-ST-HB-AushilfsL-T0000 leads to this platform, but the user is not logged in and cannot access the content. When adding the suffix &action=JLoginUser&username=HEBISHTWKL.autologin to the link, the user is identified directly and can access the content. For the moment, our users need to follow the direct start link, then go back and open the link to the resource, which is quite inconvenient. We would like to add the suffix to all portfolios in question via a process.
Another exemplary use case would be adding the suffix ?locatt=mode:legacy to crossref DOIs so that our users do not have to select the (wrong) provider, but are directed to the provider with whom we have licensed the content.
