Automatic removal of lost item from patron loan list once replacement fee is paid AND recorded in item history.
Currently, when an item becomes "lost" and a patron is charged the item's replacement fee, when the patron pays the replacement fee, the item remains on the patron's list of loans. So, one either must individually delete" lost loans that are paid for or run a close lost loans job. Neither action is recorded in the item's history. the item is paid for. Ideally, once an item is paid for, the item should be automatically removed from the patron's list of items and have a process type of "missing" or "lost and paid for" or something along those lines. And, this action should be recorded in the item's history.

Completed as part of January release:
When an on loan item’s status is changed to Lost and the last lost or replacement fee is closed, the loan status can now be changed to Lost and paid and the loan is closed
Please see Alma January release notes for more details:

Hi Mosche,
Yes, this is the process I was referring to. However, I should have said,.'...patrons cannot understand why an item is still on their account after they have PAID FOR it'.
Apologies for the confusion!

tested this in the sandbox and it doesn't seem to work!

Hi,
Are you familiar with the 'Close Lost Loan' job ? You can create a set of long lost items using the 'Create Fulfillment Sets' utility, and then run the 'Close Lost Loan' job to delete the loans.
If a 'Return' action is done, the loan is indeed expected to be discharged from the patron’s account.
Thanks,
Moshe -

'Closing' lost loans should not be a manual process, it wastes staff time needlessly and causes complaints and confusion from the patrons, who cannot understand why an item is still on their account after they have returned it.
When a lost item is returned, it should automatically be discharged from the patron's account, since the patron is not in possession of the item any more. there is no logical reason why the item should remain on the patron's account.
It would then make sense to have a 'Close Missing Items' process which could be run from time to time, to withdraw missing items from the system which haven't appeared during a certain period of time.

Concurring with Amin. It appears a "Planned" status was set for this Idea a year ago, but there's no expected date. ExL Support called out this Idea as a future solution to our Salesforce Case #00578834.
I see some Lost functionality in the Roadmap* for H2 2019 -- is that the expected date?

Hi Moshe,
Do you have a planned date for this fix yet? It would make quote a significant difference to our 'lost loans' process.
Kind Regards,
Amin -

This workflow has not yet been implemented correct? The thread below does not display in chronological order.
Once an item has been paid for I would like to see the status moved to lost and paid and the item automatically removed from the patron's account.
Currently I am manually removing the item and marking it as missing.

Hi do you have a date for this?

This is the same as 'Automatic removal of lost item from patron loan list once replacement fee is paid AND recorded in item history'
Can ExLibris merge the ideas and close this one and get some votes back? -

This is close to the planned job titled 'Automatic removal of lost item from patron loan list once replacement fee is paid AND recorded in item history'
so maybe ExLibris can merge them and give us some votes back? -

A lost item that is paid for and the loan deleted should stay lost. The loan needs to be deleted because the patron paid and is no longer liable for the item. The item is not "missing" because we know what happened to it. We need to run reports that distinguish lost from missing items.

Currently, the status in Alma include "missing" and "lost" for items. To have a "lost and paid" status for the item to denote that the item has been lost and paid will be much clearer for all.
If we change the "missing" item to "withdrawn", the item will be deleted and we will need to generate analytics for the lifecycle report which may not be the best option in our case.

I agree with the comments here. Also, it would be nice to not have it go to a status at all for some of our processes, especially since it is the only way to remove a lost from a patron's account without removing the fine.

Off the top of my head we have 3 scenarios with Patrons Lost books at Cardiff Met.
Lost - Paid
Lost - Supplied Replacement
Lost - Written OffCurrently we don't use "delete" in any instance, when a loan is deleted Alma deletes the whole loan and no record of it is retained on the users account, record of the loan to that patron is then only visable in the item information or through analytics.
I would add to the above that the action of deleting an item would need to also be recorded in the patrons returns.

Whatever solution that is created must also take into account lost item fees that have been sent to the bursar. It would be great to have a record of that on the item as well.

We need both of these status. One is when the Close lost loan job is run - these should not go to missing status, as they are not in the library - maybe a status of "Lost - loan closed". And another status of "Lost and Paid" when the patron actually pays for the lost item.

Currently, when a "declared lost" item is deleted from a patron record, the status changes to "missing," which is fairly misleading as to what the true status of the item is. It would be nice if there were an option to have a status of "Lost and Paid," or something to that effect, so that it is easily distinguishable from regular missing items.
