Hello,
We are currently working with the provider to determine if we can ingest this content for Discovery as well as for Alma enrichment.
Thank you,

Hi,
If you subscribe to this service from Pidgeon Digital, which contains a small but highly relevant set of streaming films on Architecture, then please cast some votes to get the collection added to CDI and Alma CZ. The publisher has portfolio and Marc records ready to share with Ex Libris.

It would be good to have some input from NACO partners on this problem. What are the possible solutions and technical possibilities? What about linked data developments.
At EPUG-UKI this week we had a fantastic presentation by Xiaoli Li who gave an overview of LOD in Alma. The Ex Libris products are ahead of the game in developing the systems to harvest and use the data. If we work with the Company can we move forward?Jane Daniels supported this idea ·

Thank you for this ideas exchange request.
For the purpose of clarification:
Alma uses (among others) two levels of faceting the bibliographic records: Material type and Resource type.Regarding the Material Type: There are seven different distinct bibliographic material types in Alma, and this corresponds to the seven different distinct bibliographic material types used by the MARC standard. These MARC standards are explained at https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bdintro.html under section “Scope of the Bibliographic Format”. Ex Libris will leave these distinct seven formats, and not add or subtract from them. This is because there are seven distinct formats in the MARC standard. For this reason we will not add another format or change the name of an existing format. Each bibliographic record has one bibliographic material type. The Material Type is considered “Music” if the LDR pos. 6 is one of the following: c d i j. This is explained in the Ex…

I don't catalogue music at all but I'm all for anything that tells us (via Alma) and users (via Primo) what the resource that they are looking at is. It would be interesting to know how other LMSs (ILSs) allied to KBs and discovery layers perform in this regard. perhaps then we can design a solution so that the .mrc coding is used appropriately? Worth a Task & Finish Group approach? Perhaps the music libraries/archives could take the lead on this one?

Hello,
As you know, Kanopy is now owned by OverDrive. We are currently working with OverDrive and discussing the legal and technical possibilities of ingesting their content, including a conversation about Kanopy.
We expect this to be a lengthy process, but can report that it is in progress.
Best,
Rael

Thank you for this idea. we are considering to add a new key to answer the needs, but first we would like to get examples where a separate key for ISSN and EISSN are needed

What about other enrichment services such as BDS Link (here in the UK) and Nielsen?
Just wondering as no one service will provide comprehensive coverage so depending on your institutional teaching/research profile you might opt for anyone of these services to get the best coverage?

I don't have any votes left I'm afraid but the ability to identify failed records is absolutely essential now that so many of us are exporting records to other discovery layers to expose collections. e.g. in the UK many libraries are exporting records to the National Bibliographical Knowledgebase. Setting up the feed to this service was simple (this is one of the best features of Alma!) but now I need to know wich records have failed (not simply that they have) so that I can check for metadata errors and rectify them ready for the next export.
Thanks,Jane Daniels

Hi, I started a discussion around contribution of these records to CZ back in 2019 and I believe that at that time the issue was the ingestion and management of updating records for streaming video services. i.e. Lack of unique identifiers to ensure that updates matched and merged. Ex Libris had a similar problem with Alexander Street Press Video Online and I believe that a technical fix has now been devised and is in operation? Hopefully the same strategy of creating a unique ID can be used for HS collection? There is no industry standard for managing streaming video content and it is something that I have raised with OLAC but maybe NISO could be involved as well? Thanks, Jane
