  1. Support searching by index in Collection Discovery

In Collection Discovery, users can sort items by Relevance, Date-newest, Date-oldest, Title, and Author, but they are unable to search by these indexes. This affects the user's ability to retrieve specific and known-items in a precise way. The existing "search" option functions based purely on keyword across all data fields (including full text).

Users need access to specific index searching for full use of Collection Discovery, especially the Title index.

In Primo Research Assistant, please add the ability to pre-select filters. Specifically, we need to pre-select the available online filter. Our students are often frustrated when the results include resources that must be requested.

  6. Independent Profile Slots/Scopes Configuration for Basic and Advanced Search

This option would be interesting for libraries that prefer a simple home interface and want to reserve more advanced search options for advanced search. In our case, we like the profile option that allows customization of the filters displayed in the results, but we've ruled it out if it complicates the initial search interface (we prefer something simple, with a single search field and no additional options, like Google Search).

We would like to suggest this functionality to the ExLibris developers for inclusion in future versions.

  7. Restore the "Other" A–Z browse category for Journal Search in Primo VE/NDE

Primo Classic Journal Search includes an Other browse category for journal titles beginning with punctuation or other non-alphabetic characters. Primo VE and the NDE Journal Search currently provide only 0–9 and A–Z, leaving journals whose titles begin with punctuation without an intuitive browse location. Please restore the Other browse option (or otherwise provide equivalent access) to maintain feature parity with Primo Classic and ensure all journal titles are discoverable through browsing.

Some titles that might make good examples for this would be:

    @Tic : revista innovació educative

  8. Add an option to disable direct linking for newspapers

The Alma Direct Linking configuration (see https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Knowledge_Articles/Direct_Linking_configurations_for_Alma_and_Primo) at the Alma Configuration > Fulfillment > Discovery Interface Display Logic > Direct Linking menu allows us to choose to "Disable direct linking for journals." This is an important option to select because we often have access to the same journal through multiple collections (a backfile collection, a current subscription, and an aggregator, for example), and each one might have different coverage dates. We want to disable direct linking for journals because direct linking would not allow the user to see the different portfolios with their different coverage ranges and select the…

  9. Provide method for users to opt out of Mixpanel tracking (NDE)

Users should be able to opt out of Mixpanel data tracking. Although the data sent to Mixpanel is appropriately anonymized, libraries tend to want to allow users to opt out of various tracking mechanisms. Opt-out should be persistent across sessions via a browser cookie or local storage.

  11. Add an "audiobook" indicator to CDI records

We want to make it possible for our users to facet to and search more effectively for audiobooks.
In CDI records, both non-musical and musical audio materials have the same resource type, audio, and there is no way to distinguish between non-musical and musical audio materials. Our researchers have identified this as an accessibility issue and barrier for use because they are not able to identify audiobooks in our Primo catalog. Locating audiobooks is important both for general research and to provide access for those needing audio formats.
For local records, we can identify audiobooks by creating local/secondary resource types…

  12. Code free Primo Customizations - Like modern web builders that allow customization without knowing html and css coding.

A lot of web builders have the ability to create fully functional web sites with fully editable text, images, colors, fonts, etc. so that users don't need to know any coding language, like WIX... it'd be great to see that kind of ease of use when configuring Primo NDE for things like background images, quick link boxes, custom text fields, etc.

  13. Ability to configure the Update Password option in My Library Card by user type

We have both internal and external users in Alma. We want to display the option to Update Password to internal users who have their passwords stored in Alma and hide the option for external users who are authenticated via SSO and cannot update passwords via Alma. However at the moment it shows for all users, which is confusing to external users who cannot use this functionality.

  14. Support for Email Sending Without Using an Email Client in the NDE UI Email Share Action

    Background:
In the previous Primo VE UI, it was possible to send emails using Primo VE’s built‑in email functionality when sharing records via email.
However, in the NDE UI, this functionality has been removed, and the system has been changed so that an email client application must always launch to perform email-based record sharing.
In this situation, shared public PCs in the library—used for search purposes—cannot run email client software, making it impossible to use NDE’s email sending feature.

    Proposal:
To resolve this issue, we request support for sending emails using Primo VE’s built‑in functionality in the NDE UI as…

  15. Certificate of No Outstanding Debts/ Certidão Negativa de Débitos

Create a "Certificate of No Debts" function within Primo, which will allow users to issue a document stating that they have no outstanding debts with the Library (loans, unpaid fines, unreturned books, item replacements in progress, and others). If there are any outstanding issues, the document will specify what those issues are, and the user will be instructed to contact the library.
This is a very useful feature. With translate to POrtuguese, please.

  16. Natural language search in NDE should support customized local resource types

Some of our consortium members who are testing Primo NDE have discovered that our custom resource types do not work with Ask Anything (the natural language search) in Primo NDE. For example:

The search "i need print books about water" returns only ebooks. Due to our custom "print books" resource type, only e-books remain in the OTB "books" resource type in Primo.

The search "i need audiocassettes on bach" returns only audio CDs, as we have custom resource types for other audio formats (audiocassettes, lp records, etc.).

The search "i need videocassettes on figaro" returns only streaming videos, as we…

  17. Incorporate a systematic review content type/filter into Primo

Systematic reviews are key to evidence based medicine practice. They “... establish whether scientific findings are consistent and can be generalised across populations, settings, and treatment variations, or whether findings vary significantly by particular subsets (Mulrow, 1994).” They also identify existing gaps in the literature requiring further research. The number of systematic reviews published has grown from less than 50 a year in the early 1990s to almost 36,000 in 2022 (Brignardello-Petersen, 2025) Health sciences researchers, clinicians and students would benefit from the ability to efficiently limit search results to systematic reviews in Primo with a corresponding content type/filter. Currently…

  18. Journal Title Facet Should Include Local Records in Blended Scopes

Currently, the Journal Title facet in Primo only applies to records from the Central Discovery Index (CDI), excluding locally cataloged article records and those imported from external sources such as institutional repositories. This behavior leads to inconsistent and confusing results for end users, especially when using a blended scope that includes both CDI and local records.

    Problem:
Users conducting searches—particularly in the local language—often retrieve a significant number of local article records. Despite these articles being published in journals, their journal titles do not appear in the Journal Title facet.
Users are unaware of the distinction between CDI and local…

  19. Sort Favorites by Call Number, Library & Location

Patrons often use the Primo My Favorites function to build lists of titles that they want to retrieve from library stacks. Currently, the only sort options for these lists are Date Added, Title, and Author—none of which are particularly helpful for retrieval. Please consider expanding sort options to include Call Number, Library and Location?

  20. Increase the maximum number of viewable records

Currently the max number of viewable records is 2000. If the number of search results exceeds 2000, paging beyond the first 2000 records is prevented.

If the limit is increased, users can continue to view search results beyond the first 2000 records without having to try and refine their search which may be difficult to do.
