  1. Separate the Audiovisual facet for Primo Central Index (PCI) into video and audio

Users doing targeted searches incorporating facets to find specific types of resources on specific topics want to be able to do just that - target. Our users tell us that their searches are made more difficult by having to sift through a long list of irrelevant format results, including Video when they just want Audio, and Audio when they want only Video. This is even more frustrating for users when they can see by the display type that the list could so easily have been made shorter.

Remote PCI resources under the Resource Type of facets:rsrctype of media and Prefilter…

    • Export search results to Excel (or delimited file)

When a user gets several hundred search results, they would like to be able to download a list of the entire search results. This is a feature that faculty routinely use. They may then have a faculty assistant check out some of the books.

There is no way in Primo to capture an entire set of search results and do anything with it, such as export.

The ability to export a set of search results was a feature in the Aleph OPAC. There is no feature parity in Primo. Users have already noted the lack of this feature.

      • Include LDR and Fixed Fields in Local Resource Types Configuration in Primo VE

In Advanced Search, Primo includes a default set of Resource Types and allows the definition and use of 20 additional local Resource Types. In Primo VE, the definition of these local Resource Types is limited to MARC fields and subfields, and excludes the MARC LDR and fixed fields (006/007/008). As is clear in the documentation about default resource types (Mapping Resource Types in Primo VE), the MARC LDR and fixed fields are a primary and crucial source for resource type identification, and their exclusion makes it very difficult to effectively map to desirable resource types. These fields are available for…

        • Force sign-in before pinning items

Our library conducted a formal usability study with the Primo New UI in Fall 2017 and we found that user's figured out how to pin items but they didn't realize that they wouldn't be able to get back to their pinned items later because they didn't sign in.

We would like one of the following enhancements:

          1. When user tries to pin first item in a session where they are not signed in, a notification pops up telling the user that their pinned item will not be saved to their account unless they sign in, and provide a sign-in button…

            • Optimize call number Advanced Search

Currently you can conduct an advanced call number search, but there are a few issues with it:

-It doesn't properly search the entry as a call number like the Browse function does. It treats it like a regular word which results in severely incomplete results. For example, if I do advanced search > call number > contains > MT, I receive 90 results, though we have 3,578 items with call numbers that begin with MT.

-The only way to see a mostly accurate number of holdings is to search partial numbers + an asterisk. For example, MT* returns most of…

                • Journals A-Z: Subject-indexing or discipline-indexing of titles

Librarians and faculty members alike would like the ability to search the Journals A-Z list by subject or discipline. This is available in SFX's A-Z/Journal Title Finder functionality, and would be highly useful in Primo as well. User Services and Teaching/IL Librarians would use it to create Subject Guides and other instructional materials, while Collections Librarians would use it to help in acquisitions decision-making. Faculty members would like to refer students to quick lists of discipline-specific resources, as well as use such lists for their own current awareness and professional development.

Google Scholar is rolling out a programme with publishers for easier access to full-text subscription content. They call this Campus Activated Subscriber Access (CASA). The description from the latest press release says "CASA makes note of a user’s institutional affiliation when they access content from an authorized on-campus location, and then enables continued access to their library’s journal and book holdings from home or when using a device not connected to the institution’s network".

The way this could work with Primo is by setting a cookie on the user's device when they are on campus and access Primo. If their…

                    • Ignore call number prefix (subfield k) when indexing for Call Number Browse

Primo's browse search "By Library of Congress Call Numbers" includes the call number prefix (holdings record field 852 $k) when generating the browse list. At UGA, we use that prefix for oversize volumes (Folio, Ff), and for a variety of branch locations, special statuses and shelving areas (Juv, Ref, Vet Med, etc.).

As a result, any holdings with a prefix do not show up alongside holdings in the same call number range, essentially hiding many titles from patrons interested in browsing the shelf list. (This would be an issue for staff as well, but shelf list browsing works correctly in…

                      • Secondary sorting of records in the results list

Primo is designed to sort the results list by one parameter only (relevancy, title etc.).
Currently, it is not possible to define a secondary sort. Thus records with the same ranking will appear in no particular order.
It would be beneficial to be able to configure a secondary and third sort options. For example, first sorting by Relevancy, secondary by Publishing Year and third by Title.

                        • Summary Holdings Display>Primo VE

                          Summary Holdings Display>Primo VE
We would like our summary holdings to display one "click/screen" earlier than they do now.

                          For example,

                          https://col-hope.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/fulldisplay?docid=alma991001380029704767&context=L&vid=01COL_HOPE:HOPE&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&tab=Everything&lang=en

Users first have to click on the little arrow on the right of a holdings location before viewing the summary holdings statement.

We would like the summary holdings to display as a third line under the initial location data.

Ideally, Primo would identify that the walk in users were from a certain IP range and in combination with an Alma licence
condition which allowed walk-in use to the resources, it would allow them to discover the resource.

Currently, users who wish to request multiple volumes of a set or journal must submit individual requests for each volume. In practice, though, users frequently want multiple volumes. Our institution has the bulk of our collection in remote storage, so we get a lot of requests of this nature. I would love to see a checkbox option in Primo where users could check off all of the items they want, rather than submitting a separate request for each. Obviously this would need to send the appropriate request to Alma or whatever other system people might be using; I understand that…

                                  • Show availability of ER thanks to IP analysis

Primo could analyse the IP address of the PC accessing Primo in order to determine whether or not a electronic resource is available or not.
This would take into account the actual IP address and not the hypothetical one via campus management.
No idea if this is technically feasable.
It would diminish the frustration of patrons who click on electronic resources shown as available but the destination page wants 35 dollars to access the resource (because the patron is in the wrong IP range).

                                    • Ability to add labels for saved record/favorites in brief view

Currently, one has to go the favorites menu, search the record in the list and categorize via labels.

It would be nice when user could perform a search and categorize/labels favorite records directly in the brief view.

                                      • Displaying the pre-filters used, as the used facets are dispalyed

It would be very useful to display the pre-filters used in Primo New UI (from both simple search screen - as of May release and advanced search screen). Pre-filters used should be displayed in the brief results list just as the facets used are displayed, at the top of the column. Thus the patron can always see and be aware of all the active filters in the session

                                        • My Library Account: add Recalled Loans Tab

It would be very beneficial for library patrons to be able to view their recalled loans, at a glance, when checking their library account in Primo; please could you add a Recalled Loans tab to the Overview section of My Library Account
