  1. Feature Requests for the NZ Fulfillment Network

    1. Access to Borrowing History Across NZ Institutions
      • Feature Request:
Enable librarians to view the borrowing history of their university patrons at other NZ institutions.
      • Current Situation:
      a. On Network Activity tab, it only displays current FN loans and current FN requests.
      b. Librarians cannot directly access the borrowing history or detailed transfer records when their patron borrows books from another NZ institution.
      c. Assistance from librarians at the other institution is required, which delays service and limits the ability to provide comprehensive patron support.

  2. Add a linking job for mass linking of NZ records to IZ

Currently the only way to use records from NZ in an IZ is to search them in the NZ and perform an action like "order" or "link" on every single record one by one. There are, however, situations where an IZ wants to use a bulk of records. For this purpose we need a possibility to link records in bulk and create inventory for the linked records.

We imagine a linking job that takes as an input a logical or itemized set of records saved from a search in the NZ. The linking job can create physical and electronic (and…

  3. Patron Loan Limits should work like network level blocks

For institutions using Resource Sharing or fulfillment networks, we recently gained the ability to use network level blocks, however most of our blocked patrons are blocked due to loan limits configuration (cash, overdue recalls, etc), not manual blocks.

We would like the ability to include those blocks as network blocks as well, so that our patrons that visit other sites will have the same level of blocks as their home institution without us having to manually add a block.

  4. Developer Network master NZ account that can access/support each member IZ

This is an idea to improve the infrastructure of the Developer Network for consortia central offices.

Consider the case of support staff in the central office of a consortia. When using the Ex Libris Support Center, we are able to view open cases from across our consortia members and update them, assist them, etc as necessary, using our central consortia "master accounts"

Unfortunately, in the Developer Network, we have a central account, but it is only connected to our Network Zone for managing API keys, seeing API usage, and managing users. If we want to be able to support all…

  5. Allow network zone administrators to unlink bibs from member institutions

In many cases member institutions share records with the NZ that go against the consortium's policy. In these cases the only recourse is to ask the member institution to "copy to catalog", which unlinks the record, allowing the NZ to delete the bib record. This can be cumbersome in a large consortium. It should be possible for the NZ admins to perform this action, i.e. while working in the NZ to unlink a bib from member IZs, as though any institutions holding that bib had selected "copy to catalog".

  6. Display "Bibliographic Rank" for Electronic Collections IZ/NG

In the November 2023 Alma release, "bibliographic rank" information displays for Community Zone collections (please see attached screenshot and https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/308173/suggestions/39648964) but this information does not display for Community Zone collections activated in the Institution Zone/Network Zone.

This makes it more time consuming to evaluate the bib record quality of collections already activated because one would need to search for them one by one in the CZ.

Please display "bibliograpic rank" for all elections collections (CZ and local too if possible) in a library's Institution Zone and Network Zone and also make this data available in Analytics so reports can…

  7. Add a mapping structure for normalization/merge rules in MDE

The numbers of normalization rules is getting quite annoying. When we are in a consortium we also see every rule in the network zone.
I would like a posibility to create folders like in Analytics.
This would be helpful to group rules by institution or category.

  8. E-Resources: Make public note and authentication note translatable

In the editor of e-collection / service / portfolio, it is possible to set up the public note and authentication note. These are then displayed to the patron in Primo VE in the box with full-text link in view it section.

Currently it is a simple text box with no translation possibility. In our network we use 4 languages for the UI. Therefore, we require this field to be translatable so the note language adjusts to the patron interface in Primo VE.

  10. Duplicate Title Analysis should include match option for Unique OCLC number match method

The Duplicate Title Analysis job and report currently include matching on only one attribute at a time, rather than on all of the attributes that might be covered by a given match rule. For instance, matching on system number provides only matches between 035$a in different records, while the Unique OCLC number match method covers both 035$a and 035$z. As a result the duplicate title analysis report is missing records that would otherwise be found by an import profile or the match method in the network zone.

  11. Ability to convert from digital/electronic to physical request

we have encountered issues when a citation for a digital/electronic request for an article/chapter is either beyond what is permitted within copyright policy or is insufficient to determine what is needed

rather than cancel the request and have it hit the next institution on a rota, we prefer to be able to to convert the request to physical and route the entire item to the borrowing institution, much like the functionality available in ILLiad

would it be possible for there to be an option to convert a digital/electronic request to a physical request?

currently, we are required to close out…

  12. Create "Quick Cataloging" placement default as "Institution" rather than "Network"

When creating an item at checkout, or a brief record, Alma opens up a Quick Cataloging window that defaults the "Placement of new record" into the network. Since these records most often end up with the Cataloger under review, I feel that Alma should default to the Institution Zone instead. This will ensure that we do not unintentionally add these records to the Network zone.

  13. Make Display of Inventory Groups list sortable (alphabetical by one of the columns.)

Display of Inventory Groups list is not predictable or sortable
In the Electronic Service Editor > Group Settings tab, there’s no predictable, consistent order for the display of associated Inventory Groups, and there is no way to sort them.

The list of groups in the Inventory ‘Available For’ Management Groups (Configuration Menu > Resources > General > Inventory Network Groups) is also in no order and is not sortable.
As a large consortium with 94 member libraries, CARLI maintains many Inventory Groups in our Network Zone. The display of the Inventory Groups are not consistent from one e-collection service editor…

  14. Functionality to manage unique URLs for NZ local collections

In instances where there is no CZ collection for an e-resource, we have to create Network Zone local collections in Alma to allow our consortium members to discover and access the content in Primo. However, we are not able to do so if each member has a unique access URL for the resource.

We would like to see functionality in Alma that would allow us to manage unique identifiers for URLs for each member in NZ local collections.

  15. Add Volume number to Matching Records summary results in the Metadata Editor

When a single ISBN is assigned to an entire set of multi-volume works, sharing the record for one of the volumes with the Network Zone may retrieve multiple matching records. In these cases, it is difficult to find the correct record because the Title, Author, ISBN, and Subjects are the same. We have to open each record using the View option to check the Volume number, and when dozens of volumes exist, it will take a long time to find the right one. It would be helpful if we could see the volume number in the brief results without opening…

  16. Network Zone indicator for centrally paid collections

In our instance of the Network Zone, we have collections that the central office negotiates a price for the libraries but the central office does not pay for those collections. We also have collections that are paid for by the central office. Currently I add internal notes indicating if the collection is centrally paid or not. Can an indicator be added to the CZ collections, in which during activation, you could check a box in the Activation Wizard: Electronic Collection and Services Setup that indicates the collection is centrally paid for.

  17. Add API name as an Analytics field in Physical Items subject area

I am looking to create an Alma Analytics report for quality control purposes for the numerous Ex Libris Developer Network's apps we use. Currently, the only way to monitor item record changes using the APIs in the Physical Items subject area is to select "Modified By" but the only option recorded is "exl-api". I cannot monitor which APIs are updating which records with this generic "exl-api" response. I would like to add either a different field to select API by name or update the "exl-api" response to "exl-api_[name of API]".

  18. Increase report limits on Delete bibliographic records job

The Delete Bibliographic Records job does not include a report on the records deleted and any errors if the set is larger than 10,000 records. This number is not sufficiently large enough for operations in a network zone, and the main workaround is to create smaller sets of records and running multiple delete jobs.

Please increase the reporting limits on the delete bibliographic records job.

  19. Run the job ‘Change Physical Items information’ with user role ‘Physical Inventory Operator’ at library level

    Background
Currently, a user with ‘Physical Inventory Operator’ role at institutional level can perform physical inventory change by a batch job ‘Change Physical Items information’ in Alma. This applies to a set of any physical items owned by all libraries in an institution. A user with this role at library level has no way to run the job ‘Change Physical Items information’ in Alma as it is not on the job list.

    Request
In an institution of a network of libraries, a branch library staff often updates information of a batch of physical items owned by branch library. The user…

  20. Fulfillment Network Users get roles assigned by Role Assignment Rules

Network Zone/Fulfillment network users get roles scoped to our institution zone by the role assignment rules, which makes it appear that they have access to user and financial and other data of our institution, even if they don't.

I propose changing the behavior so that users who are not local, and from another institution are ignored by the role assignment rules.
