Alma collections: Allow to add from network zone
Our Alma consortium shares a common network zone. On the local institution level, we are building Alma collections (not digital/electronic collections). We can add titles from the institution zone, but we can't add titles from the network zone.
This is documented:
Alma Online Help (English) > Resource Management > Inventory > Managing Collections
"You can only add titles from your Institution Zone to collections. NZ-managed inventory cannot be added to collections."
This is very bad since many of our e-book packages are managed on the NZ level. So we can't add e-books to our collection and present them together with print titles from IZ.
To make the collection feature usable for institutions that have a common network zone, please add the feature to add titles from the NZ!

Has there been any update on this? We were recently given the ability to add external resources to collections, but that does not address this Idea Exchange, which was accepted 6 months ago.

P.S. - I vote yes. This would be very helpful for all of us. Thank you!

Kirstie Genzel writes, "suggestion was to "make a copy of the record in the IZ so it can be added to the Collection." That is not a solution...it defeats the whole point of having an NZ!" I agree. We shouldn't have to "copy to catalog" every e-book we want to add to a collection just because it's in the NZ.

Adding to this....we also cannot add Network Zone records to our IZ course reserves reading lists. It would be very helpful if it were possible to allow this as well.
I recently opened a case about the Alma Collections and NZ records, and the suggestion was to "make a copy of the record in the IZ so it can be added to the Collection." That is not a solution...it defeats the whole point of having an NZ!
