  1. Control Purchase Request Display in Primo by Material Type

Using display logic rules there is no easy way to show the Purchase Request link based on material type. We want to enable the purchase request link for ebooks, but not ejournals. I did come up with a hackey workaround by creating a GES that only does the identification of the journal and then a display logic rule to hide the purchase request if this GES is present, but there seems like there should be a better way to do this?

  2. Increase Primo search capability to support major common search expansions on synonyms.

    Salesforce case #00583901 refers (unpublished)

Ex Libris advises that, due to performance considerations, Primo search is unable to support the search expansion for the spelling variants that include the use of 's' or 'z' within a word. This is a common trans-Atlantic spelling variation, and omitting it has a significant impact on search results.

Example: a search for the terms “practice globalisation” produces 441,248 results, but by changing the 's' in globalisation to a 'z', Primo produces an additional 12,000 search results.

  3. Improve Browse by Subject (Primo VE)

In Primo VE, only one of “vocabulary” is available - “Library of Congress Subject Headings.” The choice to use this “vocabulary” is automatically made for you when you choose “Browse by Library of Congress Subject.” The index “Library of Congress name authority records for 651” is not available through this search as it is through the Metadata Editor via Alma. Thus, many, many LC subject headings cannot actually be browsed in Primo VE. Example, you can find NO headings beginning with “Colombia – Commerce,” because there is no LC subject authority for “Colombia – Commerce” or for any further subdivision…

  4. Allow for consistant customizations in the new UI

The open discovery of the new UI allows customers to customize the new UI, extend its functionalities, and connect Primo with external services.
This framework can offer an important added value to institutions; it can enable them to respond to specific needs of their user community.
We want to implement extensions for functionalities like:
    • Offer a button “report a problem” that allows a user to report a broken link or another problem with a specific source he found. The form sends this message to our helpdesk, together with useful debug info like : is the user on or off…

  5. ORCID iD Integration in Info Card for Contributor Page in Alma

Background: In August, ExLibris implemented the Info Card feature for contributor pages in Alma, which appears under specific conditions related to linked authority records. This enhancement has significantly improved the visibility of contributor information.

Current Conditions for Info Card Display:

    • A person is linked to an LC Names authority for a personal name.
    • A person is linked to a Name authority that exists in VIAF and can be linked to an LC Name authority for a personal name.
    • Information on the person exists in LC Names and Wikidata, with at least two fields containing information beyond the name of the…

Thank you for the suggested idea. We see its value and will consider it in the future. This development requires integration with third-party providers, and we will need to investigate the possibility of this development.

  6. Full integration of Syndetics enrichment content

Syndetic Solutions enrichment content should be indexed in Primo, to aid the retrieval of books (especially by chapter titles in TOCs) and displayed inline in the new Primo UI. The acquisition of Ex Libris by Proquest should make this commercially easier to arrange, and it should be technically easier on the Primo "cloud" platform.

  7. Primo Analytics - Ability to report on all search strings, not just Popular and Zero Results

Primo Analytics currently only includes search string data for Popular and Zero Results subject areas. It would be a vast improvement to be able to see all search string results.
Note: This functionality is available via BIRT, but only by individual reports by first letter of the alphabet, which are unwieldy and essentially unusable in loading so slowly (and often not at all).

  8. Browses: add See Also and Usage info from authority headings

Primo supports display of See references (not same as See Also) in browse headings, if those cross-references are in the bibliographic data ingested by Primo. There is no capacity to display See Also and Usage info from authority records, which are important so that users understand how and why certain terms, especially subjects, may be used.

We propose that See Also and Usage info display in the Browse headings.

Example headings and See Also and Usage info that does NOT currently display in Primo:

    Blacks:

Search also under: subdivision Blacks under individual wars, e.g. World War, 1939-1945--Blacks; and headings beginning…

  9. Primo NDE UI: Introduce Dark mode

Our users are complaining that the new UI is too bright and causes eyestrain and specifically requesting a Dark Mode option. We have also developed our new website using the same materials/components as are used in the NDE to align our visual identity so we know that it is possible with the tools at hand. Lastly, I recently saw this article and the first thing it mentioned is that young people want dark mode: https://www.choice360.org/libtech-insight/5-surprising-things-ive-learned-about-gen-z-college-students/

  12. Allow Primo to comply with the "force password change on next login" setting in Alma for internal users

Alma has the internal user setting "Force password change on next login". Primo does not comply with this setting, so there is no way to force patrons to change their passwords in Primo. This is problematic, because our internal user accounts have a very insecure default password initially set for them. Please consider implementing this feature for Primo

  13. Configure fields included in Course Information

We would like to be able to modify the default configuration of Course Information field displayed in the details view of the full record in Primo VE, adding to or deleting the default elements (Course ID, Department Name, Course Instructor Name) or changing their order. For example, an institution may want to include only Course ID and Instructor Name but not Department Name here. This is not currently possible.

    Hi,

This is to update that this issue is still not planned to be developed in the current road map. We will continue to evaluate it for a future release.

Therefore we are keeping this under "Under review" status.

    Best regards,

    Yael.

  14. Primo VE: add option to mark all Display Fields for Search and Facet

Primo VE has a standard out of the box mapping of Display Fields, Search Fields and Facets (see https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/050Other_Configuration/Mapping_to_the_Display%2C_Facets%2C_and_Search_Sections_in_the_Primo_VE_Record). Customers cannot adapt or create Search fields and Facets. This is only possible now for Local Fields. I don't understand why this is not possible. Please provide options to mark Display Fields for Search and Facet and to create Search Fields and Facets, just like for Local Fields.

  15. Add an Abstract resource type for the Primo Central Index

Primo Central Index contains many records for abstracts of conference papers that have been published in journal issues/supplements.

These records are given the Article resource type in Primo. This confuses users, who when they find these items expect a full-length article instead of a short abstract.

It also creates problems with link resolvers, which attempt to generate article-level links and fail (publishers usually do not provide these abstracts as individual articles).

To fix this, Primo Central should be given a new resource type for abstracts.

The sources for these records are usually large indexes such as Scopus or Web of…

  16. proximity search operator for fulltext search in Primo Central

A strong argument for a discovery index compared to a bibliographic database is the incorporation of full text in the index. I have not found an actual number or a percentage how many Primo Central collections are full text searchable. But we all know: it is significant. Since this year all Primo Central searches will always expand to full text.
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Knowledge_Articles/Primo_Central_Full-Text_Searching

The most powerful feature for full text search is proximity.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proximity_search_(text)

Aleph was able to support proximity for small hitsets
    https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Aleph/Knowledge_Articles/Proximity_doesn't_work_for_larger_results.

... and Summon has a proximity feature

  17. Display license information for Open Access and Open Educational Resources

Please add license information for resources and collections that are known to be open access or open educational resources, making it clear what licence applies. This applies both in CZ records and CDI. We would like to make it clear to our users when a title is made available under a particular licence terms.

    Hello,

This idea will be transferred to the Primo forum as it will require product development to support this metadata.

    Kind regards,

  18. Results for e-resources when narrowing down to IZ

The users expect that with the facets, you would be able to filter electronic resources by library and/or IZ that licensed them. This is currently not the case. When filtering by location, e-resources (incl. external data sources) are not delivered as results.

Electronic resources should be recognized by Primo as owned by libraries and institutions like physical resources. We would highly appreciate if Ex Libris could make this possible.

  20. Incorporate a systematic review content type/filter into Primo

Systematic reviews are key to evidence based medicine practice. They “... establish whether scientific findings are consistent and can be generalised across populations, settings, and treatment variations, or whether findings vary significantly by particular subsets (Mulrow, 1994).” They also identify existing gaps in the literature requiring further research. The number of systematic reviews published has grown from less than 50 a year in the early 1990s to almost 36,000 in 2022 (Brignardello-Petersen, 2025) Health sciences researchers, clinicians and students would benefit from the ability to efficiently limit search results to systematic reviews in Primo with a corresponding content type/filter. Currently…
