  3. Include authentication in QR Code link for favourites

On Primo VE you can generate a QR Code for the page you are viewing.

If the page is a search the QR Code link works, once scanned the search is replicated.
If the page is from your account, LibraryCare, My Loans, My Requests, when the code is scanned it invokes authentication.

However, for Favourites, when the code is scanned it shows a "blank" screen if the user isn't already authenticated on the scanning device.

I would like to propose that the link generated for Favourites invokes authentication in the same way as pages for Loans, Requests etc,

  4. New export all function without be logged in

To use the new “Export ALL results” feature in Primo VE, we've noticed that you need to be logged in.
we would like to be able to use this feature without being logged in, like the other ways of exporting results.

  5. Consolidated booking calendar view for patrons in Primo

Ability for patrons to view all bookable items in a single calendar.

Our library uses bookings for 9 student student rooms, so students may have to begin 9 separate booking requests before finding an available room. This is a tremendous frustration and waste of their time.

A consolidated booking calendar should allow students to preview availability of all rooms before attempting to place a request.

  7. Prepositions, conjunctions and articles must be written in lowercase in the "Journal Title" facet.

In Primo in the facets section there is one called "Magazine Title" where prepositions, conjunctions and articles such as "Of", "And", "The" appear with letters in capital letters which is incorrect,

since they must be shown in lowercase .

    I attach a sample image.

    Thank you.

    Gracias.

  8. Expand Primo VE Browse Search to include dc:subject tags from Discovery Import Profile targets

The Primo VE Browse Search currently includes only those bibliographic items that are managed within Alma.

Since Discovery Import Profiles bring external data sources into the Primo VE search index, it would be an improvement to incorporate harvested dc:subject (or similar) fields into the Browse Search.

Often libraries have collections - especially digital ones - managed outside of Alma, but metadata is brought into Primo VE in order to provide a true all-of-library-collections search. Adding the ability to run a Browse Search across this imported metadata would be a useful feature.

  9. Research Assistant suggested subjects

In Research Assistant, it may be beneficial to offer users a list of relevant Primo subjects. Users may go to Primo VE & look excatly for the subjects suggested by the Research Assistant.

  10. Linked Open Data - Discovery of Person Entity with HKCAN name authorities

With the Primo VE May 2024 release, an option to enrich our library catalogue with linked open data of person entities is available. We understand that currently this enrichment is only available to personal headings linked to LC name vocabulary. However, in all of JULAC libraries, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean personal headings are mostly linked up with HKCAN name authority vocabulary. So, a vast amount of our records are not enriched with the linked open data. We'd like to propose extending this linked open data enrichment to person entities with HKCAN name authorities. Thank you for considering!

  11. Book Covers en ALMA- Very good service for the user.

The Spanish Conference of Bookstore Guilds and Associations (CEGAL) has created a functionality on its All Your Books platform with which to automatically include book covers.
Information that other Integrated Library Management Systems are executing this functionality.

  12. Allow Indexing and Display of 788 Field

Would like for the indexing and display of 788 field in Primo VE.

The 788 field allows catalogers to make discoverable parallel descriptions in another language https://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bd788.html and https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/7xx/788.html

  13. Primo VE item filter by ChronJ item field

In Primo VE, in the Get it section, button "location item filter" we can see and filter the items associated to an specific holding. Sometimes, for example with daily newspapers, there are lots of items associated to a holding.
We have the issue's year codified in chronI field, following ExLibris recommendations, month in chronJ field and day of the month in ChronK field.

If users want to reach, say, an issue dated July 16th, they should select the corresponding year and Primo VE loads the first ten issues of the year, starting in January. Now, user should be clicking many…

  14. Do not index preprint articles in CDI until they are published

Preprint articles are showing up in EBSCOhost collections via CDI records before the articles are published. This makes things confusing for users when they find an article that is not actually available yet.

Please consider working with this provider to distinguish this content and/or not index them in CDI until the articles are published. Thank you!

  15. Set default of language in vocie search

When in voice search using customized languages (not UI supported languages because it influences the language options in My Account) it is not possible to set a default language: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Product_Documentation/020Primo_VE/Primo_VE_(English)/050Display_Configuration/010Configuring_Discovery_Views_for_Primo_VE#Defining_a_View
I suggest it should be possible to set the default language of Voice Search (as once was possible in earlier versions of VE)

  16. Resource Type Filter Bar buttons: users expect them to unclick if they change the search scope dropdown

Users raised that they would like the Resource Type Filter Bar buttons to reset themselves to "All" when they repeat their search in a different dropdown scope.

This is especially relevant when the new combination of search scope and resource type doesn't give any hits, e.g. searching the print catalogue scope with the button clicked to see only electronic articles.

  17. Can Note be added to the list of field search options in Advanced Search in Primo?

Adding Note to the field search options filter would enable patrons to more effectively search for titles. For example, someone searching for materials in languages not currently available for limiting searches could select Note and write Text in Tagalog or similar to refine their search. Keyword searching does this, but the results lack context and are much less helpful.

  18. Using FRBR local key to force certain similar records to FRBR in a group

When having records with the same title (245 a) and also very similar subtitles (245 b) or section titles (245 p) or section numbers (245 n) you may want to FRBR them (and no others) in certain (sub)groups by using FRBR local key.

    Examples:
    In one group:

    245 a Sveriges rikes lag p Processrätt I
    245 a Sveriges rikes lag. n 3, p Processrätt I
    245 a Sveriges rikes lag. n 4, p Processrätt I

    And these in another group:

245 a Sveriges rikes lag p Processrätt II
    245 a Sveriges rikes lag. n 3, p Processrätt II
    245 a…

  19. Articles not yet made available

I would love to see some regulations or procedure set in place for articles not yet published from being published in primo. I understand this is a vastly complex issue but curious if anyone else has had these issues as well.
    Per Ex Libris
Ex Libris's goal is to reflect the provider’s content and metadata and cannot directly make changes in our databases without the provider making these changes. If the provider has sent us a record for an article that is not yet published, or not yet assigned to a specific volume/issue, you will see it as a search…

  20. Enable Custom Configuration of Primo Normalization Rules for Local Authority Search

Current Situation: Local authority search records are currently displayed with hard-coded normalization rules (NRs).

Proposed Change: Allow users to configure Primo normalization rules for local authority search. This flexibility will enable us to normalize authority records and display fields according to our specific needs.
