  1. "Do not show as Full Text available in CDI even if active in Alma" for article records

We were informed by Ex Libris that the "Do not show as Full Text available in CDI even if active in Alma" CDI field does not work on articles. As this feature can already impact the discoverability of CDI records in Primo, it would be great if it could be formally developed so it behaves more predictably and less unexpectedly. When selecting "Yes" for "do not show as full text available in CDI even if active in Alma", we are still seeing CDI article records appear in Primo.

  2. Make DOIs active links in full record display

It would help users connect to content if the DOI in the Identifier field were an active link. This could either be through adding "https://doi.org/" in front of the DOI to display a complete URL, or by simply adding that to build active links behind the scenes. For example, use https://doi.org/10.48331/scielo.LS5RKD rather than DOI: 10.48331/scielo.LS5RKD

This would be especially helpful for open access content in the CDI that is often displayed to users without any links to follow. Copying and pasting the DOI by itself into a browser search produces inconsistent results that often fail to go to…

  3. Allow lowercase Boolean operators

When searching in Primo VE, Boolean operators must be entered in all caps. Many databases and search engines allow either uppercase or lowercase Boolean operators, so this requirement may trip up users and prevent them from getting the results they were looking for.

  4. Portfolio Order

Logic Rules often become complex in showing exactly which holdings to display. We would like to have the ability to rank(or order) portfolios based upon institutional needs and have an easier way to exclude portfolios that we do not want displayed, without creating an endless amount of display logic rules that can inevitably cause issues.

  5. Primo Collections: Allow NZ records

For consortial users, it would be very helpful to be able to include NZ records in Primo Collections, instead of just IZ records.

  6. Ability to sort or group online services by availability date

We would like the ability to sort or at least group the online services via the availability date. At the moment, I have to manually add and sort hundreds of ecollections to put the focus on these rather than our big packages (Proquest, Ebscohost, etc.)
We found that users generally click on the first few links despite what the availability dates are listed. Grouping by interface is available (https://developers.exlibrisgroup.com/blog/how-to-use-the-online-services-order-to-to-control-the-order-of-the-services-on-the-services-page-in-primo-after-clicking-available-online/?unapproved=1024&moderation-hash=5a646f643de45dfa00b8dbf001d0157f#comment-1024) so it would be nice to group titles in a similar fashion where we can group all ecollection with ongoing access at the top.

  7. Ask for confirmation when deleting saved searches

In “Saved searches” and “Search history” sections, when clicking on remove icon, the query is deleted immediately.

A popup asking for confirmation could help preventing unwanted deletions

  8. Add label to view it section in front of service provider link

Add a label to the front of the service provider name in the view it section so that it can be made clearer that users should click on this to access the resource. At the moment we have to use a customization to add text but it would be easier to maintain if this was a standard label.

  9. Make brief availability statement continuous across calendar year changeover

The brief availability statement in Primo VE (see attached screenshot) cannot compensate for the changeover of the calendar year. If we have the following coverage dates:

    Portfolio #1: 1/1/1869-12/31/1984
    Portfolio #2: 1/1/1985-present

Then the brief availability should read "Coverage: 1869-present." Instead, it reads "Coverage: 1869-1984, From 1985."

Jan. 1 always comes after December 31, so the algorithm should be able to compensate for this. I know it's a small thing, but I'd love to see this fixed!

  10. Suppress Resource Sharing Request Form when consortium-owned items are unavailable

Please provide a pathway, via Display Logic Rules or otherwise, that would allow us to suppress the Resource Sharing Request Form in instances where an item owned by another institution in our consortium is UNAVAILABLE. Right now, all we can do in this case is modify a text message at the top of the form and hope that the user understands that s/he will need to use the interlibrary loan request form instead.

  11. Export to Leganto from OneSearch - course information

Export to Leganto from OneSearch under 'full Record Services' - to include course information in addition to the already existing reading list information. Or, e.g. allow the lists to be searchable by typing e.g. the title/name

    − Role: Course instructors

− Proposed feature: Be able to additionally see the course information as well as the existing reading list pneumonic/title when making a selection from the list, or be searchable by typing in the name of the list

− Feature’s benefit: Make it much easier and quicker to find the right resource list to add the title to. It is currently…

  13. Allow suppression of citation action based on resource type.

Some resource formats, such a patents from CDI, lack crucial information so that the generated citation is inaccurate and unhelpful. For instance, patents lack the patent number, which is present int the record but which doesn't display to patrons. We'd like to be able to suppress the citation action in Primo VE based on certain resource types.

  14. Only show "request other issue" for serials.

Presently if a title has a holdings statement attached (holdings 866 I think) or it has a description in an item record, and if the fulfillment rules allow for patron physical requesting, then in addition to item-level request links there will be a "Request other issue" link. The resulting form allows the patron to fill in additional values for chapter, page, volume, issue, part and date. Documentation refers to this as a "Request for a Non-Cataloged Serial Item." However, the link presently appears on non-serial items. Ex: https://librarysearch.williams.edu/permalink/01WIL_INST/1faevhg/alma991013241589702786
Given that this link takes you to a form focused on serials-related…

  15. "Peer reviewed" for academic books

Currently, there is a limiter in discovery to "Peer-reviewed articles" but using this limiter does not bring results from books even by the most celebrated academic publishers. While this information arrives from vendors, there should be a way to search peer-reviewed publications that would exclude magazines but include both peer-reviewed journals and books (or book chpaters) by any academic press.

  16. full text

Currently "full text" is limited to first 65K characters of an article or of a complete [!] book (along with chapter abstracts only) from CDI, or even less from Alma, and not from all sources (e.g., not from JSTOR). Thus tweak results to full text is misleading. For articles, entering from google scholar may circumvent the problem partially. For books, true research now requires search full text (possibly not available or only available in snippet view) in google books for finding the required source and pages, then searching the discovery for the book for electronic access, similar to finding a…

  17. Display only the last entered Date Range facet

When a person refines a date a second time in Primo, Primo simply displays an additional date facet in the Active Filters area. For example, a person initially filters a search to Years: 1919-2025 and then decides to filter again by Years: 2024-2025. Instead of removing the first date facet and replacing it with the second, Primo simply adds the second facet underneath the first facet. This does not make sense and presents a usability problem for the end user. In all other cases, when two facets are used within the same category, they are to be regarded as having…

  19. Suppress blank yellow box in "View It" section

Currently, when there are no online access links in the "View It" section on the full details page, a blank yellow box appears. Can this be suppressed when there are no links to display?

  20. PressReader

PressReader uses Webhook functionality to enable direct search of its content within Primo VE.

In Brief Search Results the link displays as "check for available services'. This is not configurable (Salesforce #07245690).

In the Full Record Screen the default text 'Link to Resource' is used.

This is sourced from Links and General Electronic Services Labels.

Can there please be a separate label, created specifically for PressReader, with text configurable by the library?

    Screenshots attached

    Thank you!
