Add ability to change default sort for results
I would like to change the default sort for one of our views from Relevance to Date-newest. Our library has a lot of grey literature which is not handled appropriately by the Relevance sort.

This got through and should become possible by autumn 2025.

And allow patrons to save their preference in the account settings.

I agree with Manu Schwendener. Patrons should be able to choose their preferred default sorting. I regularly change the sorting from "relevance" (which has no relevance to me :-)) to date-oldest, because I am usually looking for rare books. And it is really inconvenient to have to change it again and again.

Just allow the default sort to be changed to any of the others.

A date oldest is also relevant to some readers

Yes, I'm from medical library too and we have the same problem. Newer editions not always are the best match in Primo.

Yes this would be a nice option since our users are also use to seeing the most current sources first by default.

I think this a great idea. as a medical library many of our patrons want to see the newest edition of medical text, especially since the titles are sometime altered and many just look at the top results and assume it is the newest edition.
