An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedThis may be one way of getting around the problem of having the merge patron functionality locked into the user manager and user admin roles.

Dear all,
I believe we now understand the requirement better: To be able to paste a block of text in MARC 21 format, and have Alma parse it and populate the MARC tags, indicators and subfields accordingly.
This is a larger development, but we hope to be able to add a solution for it to our future roadmap.

Yes I'm sure a lot of people have used MARC EDIT software? It has the ability to copy and paste multiple lines as a plain text editor, which is what I am asking for.An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedThis is possible in Millennium and Sierra. Now that we have a shared view forward between ExLibris and III, perhaps we need a separate section of ideas for the functionality that could now be incorporated into Alma? I have a list.
An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedThanks Itai. While this would be fine if I was only to copy from Alma, I want to COPY multiple fields from systems such as the LibrariesAustralia Cataloguing Client or MARCEdit (or Notepad), which are plain text MARC editors, and then PASTE those multiple fields into Alma, which is not currently possible. They all end up in the one field with the tags inside the field.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedAgreed that it should be combined and agreed that the 583 in the bib record should be searchable. I can find it in Primo but not in Alma.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedWe are currently struggling with some duplicate orders that have come in accidentally from a vendor system and we would also like this functionality.

We will remember the user preferences for sorting the items list, so it will be "sticky".
Lynne Billington supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedYes. And I'd like the sort to be separately configured in Primo for the display of items so that globally, all sorting could be Library - Location - Description so that if the latest volume is received after an older volume, it doesn't sort in a way that makes no sense to readers

An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedYes I agree, it has caused workflow issues for us. I am reluctant to add the extended role for everyone who needs to manage holdings. It is an auditing risk and we are audited on a regular basis.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedExactly! It's a "contains" search not a proper "starts with" search, which is most useful for call number searches

An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedThat's an interesting idea but for our use case, all of the copies are available and are in the same library. We just want to have a priority associated with each location code so that particular locations within the library are assigned to users in preference to other locations if both are available.
An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedYES! I would love a priority list of location codes so that legal deposit can be issued as a lower priority than the lending copy and rare books lower still. We had this in our old LMS and it worked a treat.

An error occurred while saving the comment Lynne Billington commentedYES. We export records out of Alma to globally update them and then re-import them but we don't want the suppression tag to change, either all suppressed or all unsuppressed, we want them to just stay the same as they were already.
I agree it would be very helpful to be able to choose more than one item in a department and update the expiry date for those items. Changing the expiry date one at a time is very slow and cumbersome.
