  1. Model the Course/Reading List association as a many-to-many relationship

We need to be able to affiliate the same reading list with multiple course objects in Alma. Currently, reading lists can only be assigned to a single Alma Course object at a given time. At our university with a complex course timetable structure we need to be able to accommodate complex relationships between cross-listed and "meets with" courses. For these courses, we must accommodate a single course that is offered by multiple departments or at multiple course numbers (e.g., undergraduate and graduate versions of the same course "meet with" each other by sharing a lecture).

    For example, our Computer Sciences…

  2. Include an option of Streaming Video, instead of Electronic book. As it is now, we have to go back in and fix books to Video.

For our course reserve streaming video, we are only given the option of Electronic Book in the Add Brief record creation, instead of Streaming Video. As a result, we have to go in later to fix the display in Primo, which displays as a book instead of the Video that it is. Faculty members get upset when an item displays as a book when it is a film.

  4. Make "updated by" field configurable, not primary ID

There are many areas in Alma that will list the last Alma user to update something. These fields will display the primary identifier of the last updater, but we find this is not particularly helpful when we log in with our campus shib accounts, as this makes our employee ID number show up here. It would be more helpful if we could use Last Name, First Name or something similar in the Updated By fields.

  5. File differences included with Release Notes

It would be very helpful if ExL included a Differences report (.diff file) for the Delivery-System-Skin mashup CSS file (mashup_new.css) and also any Letter-template XSLT files which have changed for each new Alma Release, and to post them alongside the Knowledge Base article for the release (ie. https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/0099_2017/May_2017 ).

Any institution which has made local customizations based on these files needs to perform a manual review each month. While this isn't so horrific for the single mashup_new.css file, it is for the Letter-templates. Having a section which lists the differences would be a huge time-saver. Bonus points for a human…

  6. Job for copying the configuration from the production environment into the Standard Sandbox

Making testing and training in an Alma Standard Sandbox based on Ex Libris provided configuration is very difficult since this configuration may be very different from the one in the customer's production environment.

Currently Ex Libris is offering two types of Sandboxes for Alma:
    (1) "Standard" - by default included in Alma subscription pricing. This sandbox contains Ex Libris provided data and configuration
    (2) "Premium" – for addition subscription fee – this sandbox includes a full copy of the customer's data and configuration

Refresh of the Alma sandbox environment is possible up to once a quarter, upon request. In the…

  7. Embargoed resources displaying in Primo

Currently records from within an embargo period are discover-able to end-users via Primo.
The user then thinks we have access to the records and selects it only to be presented with No full text available.
Embargoed records are outside of our coverage range and should not display in our discovery interface.

  8. Authenticated "Authentication note" field

Make the content of the "authentication note" field (electronic collection editor and portfolio editor) only visible to our legitimate end-users by means of authentication: preferably via sso, another option would be via ip. That way we can register and manage all our username/password information for e-sources from within Alma. And get rid of the in-house solution (according to the Alma-L mailing list other institutions, like us, developed solutions involving a link to an authentication protected page).
Currently the authentication note has the same functionality as the "public note" field. It is displayed to anyone searching in our Primo. There also…

  9. Make the Alma new UX search default saving settings optional

The new UX's feature of retaining a user's past 10 searches seems to override browser or computer specific settings to remember more than the most recent 10 searches. Our acquisitions department tried to keep a running list of many of our more complex standing orders, which was a great time saver. This feature was especially useful for cases where transliteration can lead to variations in spelling -- Dostoevskii vs. Dostoevsky vs. Dostoyevsky.
For this reason, we'd like to be able to shut the feature of remembering the most recent searches off, if we want to on an individual user basis.

  10. Timeout should be configurable

Timeout should be configurable to allow for longer timeout than 60 min. This would be helpful for staff who work for example in areas like information services where you need to use Alma several times during the day but not continuously

  11. Option of standard clock time or military time

The 24 hour standard clock time is more feasible for reserve/loan periods rather than military time, or at the very least incorporate both options for the user. Military time is too confusing for our student workers. We had to use a cheat sheet to convert military time to standard clock time to avoid giving incorrect information to the patrons.

  12. Exclude operator roles from "start now" option in scheduled jobs in sandbox environment

As of now every role that has permission to monitor jobs in production can use the "start now" option in the scheduled jobs list in the sandbox. Several operator roles have this permission, e.g. purchasing operator, resulting in an unwanted and uncontrolled run of an institutional job by library staff testing our sandbox environment.
Therefore, we would like this permission to be restricted to manager or administrator roles. If that means, that operator roles need to be stripped of the permission to monitor jobs in production that would be fine for us. We hope that we do not have to…

  13. Adding new labels to a letter in Alma

    In Alma/Administration/General Configuration/Configuration Menu/General Configuration/Letter emails
I want to add new labels with translation field.

For example the OrderListLetter.xsl has the following codes:

department; billing_address; date; issn_isbn; sincerely; addressFrom; Cc; Bcc; note; letterName; order_date; subject; po_line_number; price; quantity; shipping_address; shipping_method; title; vendor_account; place_order_introduction

    In Alma/Administration/General Configuration/Configuration Menu/General Configuration/Customize Letters

We want to add a new header cells, for example:
    <th>@@publication_place@@</th>

Is there possible to add new codes in “Alma/Administration/General Configuration/Configuration Menu/General Configuration/Letter emails”?

  14. Usage statistics Missing Data page should have a note tab

In the Missing Data page, we need a place to put notes in to explain all the red Missing symbols, e.g. vendor closed business, see aip and scitation together (usage statistics split in two places), zero usage, resources moved platform to another vendor, etc.

  15. The Letter Activity Mapping Table should be searchable. .

The cryptic names of the various emails make it difficult to find the one I want to customize. A simple search box would go a long way toward greater ease of use.

  16. Custom Favicon

Support the ability for an institution to upload a custom favicon. Favicons make work easier when staff have multiple tabs open so they can switch back to Alma quickly. For example, someone may have a tab open with their Primo site, and a tab for the Library of Congress. A local favicon for their institution would allow them to quickly identify the Alma tab and switch back to it.

  17. "A" and "The" are not alphabetical

When listing items, titles that begin with 'a' or 'the' (the indefinite and definite articles) should *not* be alphabetized under 'A' and 'T', respectively. They should be alphabetized based on the beginning letter of the first non-article in the title. This is *standard practice* and it is ridiculous to do otherwise.

  18. Include the item barcode as part of the data published from Alma to Primo in the AVA field to improve item search in Primo

Request for Alma item barcode be included in the data that is published to Primo as part of the Alma publishing functionality to enable barcode searchability in the Primo keyword search. We have discovered that items migrated from our previous ILS do contain the item barcode(s) in the MARC 945 $$i and is written to the search:general field of the PNX. As such, those items are keyword searchable via their barcode in Primo. However, for items created in Alma, the item barcode is not written to the bib record and is therefore not searchable in Primo. Adding the item barcode…

  19. Ability to select Columns exported via Tools->Excel option

When in a view or screen with Tools option (for Excel) saving, it would be very helpful to be able to have more contol over the columns output.
User Roles is a great example. The list does not include the ACTIVE (Y/N) option, yet it is clearly an important piece of information when comparing users or building role templates. A repository search is another example. It has 18 fields pre-selected, however this could prove much more efficient if we could select to add or remove the columns that make the most sense to us prior to saving.

  20. Reminder when opening hours are expiring

When you add standard opening hourse into the Library / Institution calendar it defaults to setting the expiry for the hours 3 years ahead. This is good but it would be useful to get a reminder to move them on when it's getting close to the expiry date.
