Highlight text in persistent search box when pressing "/"
After completing a search in the persistent search box, the inputted text remains in that field. When pressing "/" to select the persistent search box, the cursor jumps to the beginning of the previously inputted text without highlighting it. Automatically highlighting the text would allow one to overwrite the previous text (e.g., scanning a barcode) without selecting and deleting it.

I have a request relating to search text so am posting here as comment.
As I construct a search in Advanced Search, if I have already typed a search word and need to change the search criteria and select a different search field in the drop-down menu, my search text is wiped out! So that I have to type it again.
Could Alma keep my text intact when I change search criteria? It is not so uncommon that the first choice of search field is incorrect or not the best and a user needs to finetune it. I find it frustrating that I have to type the text again. The idea suggested by Mark Engelmann above can help with my scenario likewise. When I move my cursor away from the search text box, the system may highlight the text but there is no need to jump ahead and delete it.
