Allow batch deletion of user notes
It's possible to add notes to user records in batch using the "Update/Notify Users" job on a set of users. It would be helpful if we could also batch delete notes on user records.
There are occasions when we have subsets of users who receive special permissions to check out subsets of materials (e.g. students in a specific class who are the only people allowed to use specific equipment or reserve items, collections/materials where we require a signed agreement on file from the user to allow access). In these situations, we add notes to the user record to indicate whether a specific user may use a specific physical resource during a set period of time, such as an academic term. We would like to be able to delete these notes in batch, rather than having to manually edit individual user records-- of which there may be several hundred-- to remove the note that is no longer applicable.
Ideally, the job would allow operators to delete only those user notes that contain text specified by the operator. (e.g. Delete user notes that contain the phrase "Fall 2016" or delete user notes that contain the word "approved")

I would love to see this enhancement request get another look. We are in the process of standardizing our note categories and some cleanup is required. This would significantly help that process. We have a note in all our migrated patron records that we would love to remove, and obviously a manual process will not work.

I support this enhancement request. Thanks for bringing this up. Hope ExLibris would consider implementing this.

The "feature" "User's Role Profiles Now Recorded in Account Notes" introduced with the May 2023 release is useless for us.
Unfortunately, the note is only assigned to all newly created or newly assigned role profiles and the old user records remain untouched
Although with the September 2023 release a parameter is to be introduced that prevents the creation of the notes, there is no proper batch possibility to delete the notes that have been created by then in thousands.

Example: All students borrowing devices for the semester are required to sign our laserfiche form for our district. Allowing us to add notes to patron records in bulk as a job would allow all fulfillment staff quick information when that patron arrives to borrow a device. Staff wouldn't need to pull up a separate page to learn this information, we could save time and offer faster service to our patrons.
Having this ability right now would be a boon to staff using ALMA.

3 votes for the idea. After migrating from Horizon, we have tens of thousands of notes that we used to migrate additional user account settings.
Additionally, it would be worthwhile for the job to allow to define the validity date of the note. After this date, an automatic job would remove notes. Moreover, it should be possible to select the type of note and whether the note is a pop-up and visible to the reader. -

We have thousands of notes that we need to remove in bulk. Had we known that we wouldn't be able to clean up user record notes in batch after Go Live, we would've approached our migration much differently.

Hi, Kristi
3 votes for your idea: I add that we've also a lot of notes to delete in batch made at the time of the Good Old Aleph.
With the passage to Alma all the workflow is changed so these notes are now redundant and should be deleted, -

We also have tens of thousands outdated user notes created on Aleph. Too many for a systematic manual cleaning!
I think that we would have never migrated all these user notes if Ex Libris implementation team would have told us that it was not possible to run batch deletion jobs on them... We would have cleaned our user records in Oracle before the final migration. :-(

We also had notes migrated over, which we added each time we issued a temporary day pass, of which they are allowed two per year. We batch deleted these notes on 31st August every year, so that the students begin on 1st Sept with a 'clean slate'. This year we have had to delete thousands of notes manually, and it has taken the best part of the year to do it. Now we are using non-blocking blocks for the purpose, as they can be batch deleted. It'll be too late for us, but would prevent others migrating to Alma from having to go through this massive waste of staff time.

This is definitely needed for us here as we have notes that came over during migration that aren't needed anymore.

Just expanding on the idea of subset of users having special permission. I would like to see another field in user information which can indicate users with special permission and set Terms of use according to the special permission. And a way to batch update this field would be highly desirable.
