  1. Add credentials and licensure fields to researcher web profiles

Our healthcare clinicians and have their medical license information and board certifications display on their academic profiles. We would like to be able to display this information in the researcher profiles as well. We would want the researcher or their delegates to maintain and enter this information, as it is not part of our central directory.

    Examples: https://medicine.uiowa.edu/internalmedicine/profile/christina-charis-donelson

  2. Expose all User record fields on the Researcher subject area

Currently, the User fields that are part of Researcher subject area are incomplete. I need to be able to include the campus that the researcher is associated with in my report.

I cannot get the information out of the Researcher Subject area as it is not exposed.

There appears to be no API or analytic subject area that all the researcher contact information, identifiers, urls (image and profile), keywords, affiliations, assets etc is available from.

I would like to see all the user fields included on the researcher subject area.

The use case is to be able to use the…

  3. Zotero - Esploro: can you make it work?

We recommend all our users to use Zotero as their reference management software. Its connector captures a lot of metadata from a vast variety of sources...but in Esploro it doesn't work. I dont see how we can encourage users to use this platform when at the moment of the research they will have to go get the metadata from another source or manually enter it. We would love to be able to use the Zotero connector when in Esploro to capture the metadata and the pdf if possible, of the item. Could you please take this idea into consideration? Thanks…

  4. Issue with OA status on closed asset with open manuscript

There seems to be no way to add an open access manuscript to an asset for a work whose published version is closed without listing the entire asset as OA.

This is a major issue because a central use case for Esploro is to provide openly accessible manuscript versions of closed works. This problem means that we currently cannot add an open manuscript to a non-OA asset (i.e. journal article) without marking the entire asset as OA, which is incorrect and misleading.

There is a workaround, but fixing this would be extremely helpful in the long run as we scale…

  5. Ability to harvest full text files

The overarching goal of an institutional repository is to provide free public access to the research and creative output of the institution. Although Esploro offers institutions the ability to grow their repository by harvesting publication metadata from external sources, the imported metadata is of limited value without full text. We would like to see Esploro's smart harvesting capabilities extended by offering customers the option to match imported records with full text available from sources like Unpaywall. Using Unpaywall's API, it should conceivably be possible to identify Creative Commons licensed full text files, import them into the repository, and match them…

  6. Option to display just the Output on the Researcher Profile

    Hello,
It would be great to be able to have the option to display either just the Output section for the Researcher Profile or have the option to display the Output tab first before the profile. Since most of the information from the profile page requires active perusal from the faculty, some of the information can be outdated or not "fleshed out" (some of our faculty does not have any profile information on their page)

  7. Add Thesis dc Field to OAI Output

Add the <dc:type>Thesis</type> to identify theses.

Theses are frequently searched for by our Research Repository users and this would make them more discoverable.

    Thank you

  8. Enhance Smart Expansion via Bibtex by adding CDI auto population job

When importing records via Bibtex files, records are created but fail to sync with the journal details like Peer Review and Open Access status. When you open the record, both fields are marked as unknown but when you "refresh" the journal name, it seems to retrieve the data necessary to populate these fields. Is it possible to create a separate or subsequent CDI auto population job that matches and updates the journal information for any Smart Expansion via bibtext job so that these don't have to be fixed manually by going to each assert?

Even if there was an intermediary…

  9. Allow usage data to be captured more granularly

We would like to suggest two improvements for capturing asset views/downloads at a more granular level.

    1) Tracks usage for each file associated with an asset
An asset can include more the one file. However, Esploro only shows the combined usage of all files associated with the asset. We would like views and downloads to be tracked individually for each file.

    2) Track usage by geography.
Allow users to drill down (in both the portal and Analytics) to view usage by country of origin. This would be particularly helpful for evaluating the reach and impact of an institution's research in…

  10. Auto Assignment for Asset Types

We have regularities in terms of which colleague checks which type of assets. It would be nice if I could automatically add the assginment to the asset type for these people. otherwise, as admin, I always have to check first and then end up assigning the same colleagues again anyway.

  11. Ability to Upload updated Internal Organization file without overwriting the whole structure

The ability to uplaod a new internal organization file (exported from Workday with edits) without overwriting the existing structure or detaching assets would be a huge time saver. Right now we have to go in manually and make significant changes on a regular basis because our university re-organizes frequently.

  12. Bulk update/delete activities

While one can load activities (e.g., courses being taught) via spreadsheet, one cannot modify or delete existing ones except manually one by one. The ability to remove a set of activities in bulk would allow an institution to refresh data of faculty activities at scale. (Support for activities in the API could also serve this use case.)

  13. Default search results to full text/open access

The primary mission of our institutional repository is to support our university's open access policy by providing free, public access to institutional research and scholarship. Accordingly, our institution stipulates that all affiliated researchers deposit a copy of their accepted manuscript in the repository at the time of its acceptance for publication. Apart from self deposit, Esploro offers a variety of other ways for ingesting research outputs including smart harvesting and smart expansion. While these tools offer useful ways to grow the repository, they also tend to allow for the proliferation of metadata-only records (asset records without files).

  14. SIS Loader Improvement - Handling Organizational Unit Affiliation

When loading and maintaining researcher using the SIS loader if a researcher being added/updated contains an internal organization affiliation that is not configured in Esploro, that researcher will not load/update. An error is is created.

This "idea" suggests that instead of an error being created in these cases, the researcher be assigned to a default internal organization that is configured by the site. A warning/exception would then be created in the SIS loader processing log stating the internal organization was not found, so the default internal organization was utilized instead.

  15. Include additional entities on CV (media mentions, projects)

Add the option to include missing entities (media mentions & projects) on the CV.
As we enable these new features on profiles they are more obviously missing on the CV.

  16. Include asset status (provisional or approved) in Author Matching Report

When using the Author Matching Report to approve individual researchers on records that were imported via smart harvest, we would find it very useful to be able to distinguish the asset status -- that is, to be able to tell if the asset is still provisional or if it is approved. If we approve one author on an asset, and then create an Author Matching Report it is useful context to know that there is a local co-author. It is also helpful to know there is no local co-author for authors that would typically write with other people at our…

    Hi,
The "Pages" field appears only in some of the asset types. It should appear in all of them.

  18. Esploro - Metadata Embargoes for Existing ETDs

    Dear Team,

The RMIT Research Repository team regularly receives advice from the School of Graduate Research that an embargo has been approved for an ETD that is already available open access via the Research Repository.

    ETDs affected are:

ETD Doctorate (we've labelled this Doctor of Philosophy (PhD))
ETD Doctorate (we've labelled this Professional Doctorate)
ETD Graduate (we've labelled this Masters by Research)

There would commonly be around 20 of these per year with numbers expected to increase over the next few years. They occur when thesis authors request a temporary embargo due to contractual obligations with publishers and/or partner organisations,…

  19. Facet drafts by category or priority

By adding a facet to drafts it will be possible to filter and order the sub-categories within drafts to organise, prioritise and focus on work items. This could be achieved by applying flags which could be filtered in the facet. Flags could be applied to a set of assets e.g. by Primary Identifier.

  20. "Show all" Button in asset lists

It would be helpful to include a "show all" button in the asset list of the researcher profiles, in order to show all projects/assets on one page.
