Ability to bulk update the name of researchers
Ability to bulk update the name of researchers. Currently, we can move asset to a researcher, but if we want the same name variant in all their assets, we need to manually modify it in each asset record.
While moving the assets to a single researcher seems enough to display all the researcher's publication under their profile, it's problematic for the feed to Altmetric Institutional as Altmetric takes the name from the assets.
In addition, academics want to see a consistent name variant throughout their asset records.
We tried to update the author name for a number of assets for…

Removing the "accepted" status so that institution can continue voting as agreed with the PWG.

OAI-PMH Support of Query Based Sets
When working with a OAI-PMH import profile you must select an existing record set provided from the OAI-PMH provider. Some providers, Datacite as an example, offer the ability to harvest a record set using a query[1] which is not included as a predefined record sets by the ListSets method. The OAI-PMH import profile should offer the ability to select a record set to harvest from a pre-defined list OR provide a record set name not in the list, a query in the case of Datacite.

Button "manage assets" to show all assets
In the backend, there is a menu item with a sub-item "manage" in the menu bar for all types of data entries, whereby all data records that count towards this are then shown. Examples: Researchers -> manage researchers / activities -> manage activities etc.
What is missing is a field "manage assets" under "repository" where all assets are displayed. There is only a heading with this name, but it has different contents. The better heading here would be "normalisation and mapping". there is also no option for "manage ETDs".
Expected behaviour: direct menu access to an overview of all results…

Add asset type Blog post as a type of Publication
We need an asset type Blog post to appear under Publications. These are not entire blogs. These are not interactive resources. They are a type of publication. We currently use asset type Other with a subtype Blog Post, but this means the items are not integrated with other publications on a researcher's profile.
We had hoped to deal with this through a 2023 roadmap item "Local Management of Asset Types and Categories" but it appears this will not be happening.
Note also a request for an image asset type - https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/929326-esploro/suggestions/47430887-image-asset-type

Improve functionality of ETD Degree Names table
Issue 1: Currently, ETD degree names must be manually entered individually into the table. There is no facility to upload a spreadsheet to populate the table. When repositories need to account for all relevant current degrees as well as past degrees for earlier theses uploaded, this list can be very long - we had 100.
Solution: allow for spreadsheet upload to populate table.Issue 2: There is no apparent way to control where a new degree is added in the list. It does not add to the end of the current list, it is not alphabetical, it seems to insert…

Impact Idea 2: Association of Projects with More Entities
Enable Projects to be linked with additional entities, such as Activities, Media mentions, and Resources to Projects. This will enhance the depth of project information and make it easier to track various related aspects of research activities. Improved association with these entities will provide a more comprehensive view of each project's impact.

Include researcher proxies in Esploro letters and communications
Allow repository staff the ability to communicate with researcher proxies regarding deposits. Currently, all letters and communications regarding deposits are sent only to the researcher. In cases where a researcher has appointed a proxy to deposit assets and manage their profile, library staff should have the option to send messages to the appointed proxy instead of or in addition to the researcher. Staff should be able to select this option when approving or returning deposits or using the "Contact Researcher" button. Proxies should also have the option to recieve letters about the researcher accounts they manage.

Assign assets with active messages to administrators
Currently, you can only assign assets that have not yet been approved to administrators. Due to the built in messaging system in the faculty profiles, it would be helpful from a management standpoint to be able to assign assets with active messages to administrators. Currently, assets with active messages are only visible in the general task list. It's not possible to know what is in progress or being reviewed by another administrator unless you open each asset to view any communications. Furthermore, we have to leave open cases set to active to ensure that communications are followed up on (especially…

Allow files to be organized in folders
When uploading files, there is no option to put them in folders or maintain the original folder structure. We have a user who has sorted his data by year and the only way to maintain that structure was to create separate assets for each year. They are closely related datasets.

Allow customers to modify the frequency of the usage statistics letter
Currently, the usage statistics letter can only be sent monthly. Some researchers find this schedule too aggressive (especially considering asset usage doesn't typically change dramatically from month to month). Many of these researchers tend to unsubscribe as a result. However, some have suggested they would be more open to receiving these notifications is they were less frequent. We suggest Ex Libris consider giving customers the option to modify the frequency of this letter (i.e., quarterly or annually).
Ideally, it would be great if researchers themselves could manage their notification preferences (including frequency) from their researcher profile. See related enhancement request:

Improve functionality of the Areas of Interest to allow labelled headings and locking of specific serctions
Esploro has ability to add multiple sections in the field for Area of Interest. However, when the profile is edited in the public view (Researcher portal) all the separate segments are merged into one.
We would like the ability to further control the look and access option for the Area of Interest sections.
For example: We currently use HTML to include headers for different sections of Researchers’ biographies, e.g. Biography, Research, Teaching.
Ideally, we'd be able to have separate fields, with customisable labels, in the Area of Interest so that we could control which fields to display and have greater…

Add OAI output in ETD-MS format
We would like to have an output in ETD-MS format so that we may continue to submit our ETDs to the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations. White metadata may be submitted in oaidc OR oaidc+oaietdms, oaidc lacks many important fields for etds so our contributions to this global database would be better in etd-ms format. See http://www.ndltd.org/resources/manage-etds/help-build-global-etd-search and http://www.ndltd.org/standards/metadata

Projects URL should be a friendly URL
When you add a Project URL to a project (in the top section, not as a link) there is no option for a title to display instead of the url itself. Depending on the URL, this can look very messy.
We would like the ability to add a title, similar to when adding a link.
E.g. from our sandbox (excuse the crazy colours!) https://scu-researchmanagement-psb.esploro.exlibrisgroup.com/esploro/project/82562054800023684 votes -
SIS Loader Improvement - Handling Organizational Unit Affiliation
When loading and maintaining researcher using the SIS loader if a researcher being added/updated contains an internal organization affiliation that is not configured in Esploro, that researcher will not load/update. An error is is created.
This "idea" suggests that instead of an error being created in these cases, the researcher be assigned to a default internal organization that is configured by the site. A warning/exception would then be created in the SIS loader processing log stating the internal organization was not found, so the default internal organization was utilized instead.

Allowing Random DOI Strings in DataCite Integration
Currently, the DataCite integration into Esploro creates a DOI suffix that is not randomized. Instead the suffix just increases one number at a time. For example, if we made our starting number 1 with 8 zero padding, I believe the DOI minted in Esploro would follow a pattern. I am under the impression that it is better practice to have a random string as the suffix. To follow best practice, this means that when I add data to Esploro, I mint the DOI in DataCite, instead of using the integration.
A potential solution to this problem would be to mint…4 votes -
Add ability for researcher approval before assets post to individual profiles
We have researchers who publish in areas which can be controversial such as animal research or abortion.
These researchers do not display all of their publications on their web profiles.
We would like the ability to set individual researchers so each asset had to be approved by the researcher before it displayed in their individual research portal.
We realize researchers can hide information, but we want to ensure that some information is not published to web profiles without approval.

Citation only display on profile brief results
Currently, the citation display on the Researcher Profiles includes the first several lines of the abstract. We would like to list via citation only and exclude the abstract from the brief results. This can be done in the portal but is not available from the profiles assets display. We feel that this would look tidier and reduce the need to scroll down the page as much.

Search improvement
The search routine in esploro should have the same functions like it is available for Primo --> auto autocomplete or "did you mean?"
Would be a great improvement.

Add ability to export assets from public researcher profile in Excel format
Right now if you look at a public researcher profile, the only export options you have are BibTex and RIS. Our users would like to use Excel as well to make reporting easier.

Header Search Bar Configuration
The ability to enable/disenable the header search bar separately for the portal, profiles and projects. This would enable flexibility for administrators and the removal of a second and not needed search bar in the portal.
We have neither the profiles nor the projects enabled, so the removal of the header search bar would work well for us.4 votes
