If there is specific functionality or customization option that we think we should add to Esploro, We have to open a dedicated idea for this idea and Ex Libris will be happy to evaluate it.Please Vote:

Automatically update Embargoes whose date has passed
Esploro records are Opened automatically after the embargo period had passed – But:
• The records still have "Embargo" in the "Access rights" section of the asset
• "Embargo" still appears on the article’s cover page.It was suggested by Ex Libris support that once in a while we will create a set of all the records for which the embargo date passed, And run on them the 'Update Set of Research Assets' job - replacing the access rights to ‘Open’.
We would like this process to be seamless. We request a job that automatically updates Esploro records whose embargo…

Series Title and abbreviated name are Missing from Conference Proceeding
A conference can be published in a book and the book can be labelled as part of a series.
There is no series field in the conference proceeding record.
Note that there is also no field for the abbreviated name of a conference.9 votes -
Add local notes field to researcher record
It would be useful to be able to add free-text local notes to researcher records.
We could add employment information if someone works outside of academia.
We could add notes if a researcher dies.
We could add additional information to help disambiguate authors with duplicate names working in similar fields or institutions.9 votes -
Deposit form that exists independent of researcher authentication
Some departments award honors degrees to undergraduate and one of the requirements is that those students must write a senior honors thesis. Today, the deposit process is generally tied to a researcher profile (or the integration of ProQuest ETD admin for masters and doctoral ETDs).
I would like to see a deposit form for ETDs that doesn't require the person to have a researcher profile. This would be particularly helpful for our undergraduate ETDs.

Move name variants and other researcher information when moving all assets and grants
Right now when you move all assets and grants to another researcher record, you lose any unique information from the researcher record such as name variants, affiliations, areas of interest, research topics. You have to re-input this information into the researcher record you retain.
Efficiency would be increased if unique information from a researcher record, including identifiers, moved along with assets and grants.

Add job to batch edit and/or suppress file labels in File Viewer
Currently, the file label displays in the File Viewer above the file itself and appears as prominently as the title of the asset (same font and size). For the thousands of assets we migrated to Esploro, this file label is by default the file name, which references the ID number of the file in our previous repository and nothing else (e.g., no author, title, year). This is not at all helpful to our patrons and is frankly quite ugly. So I would recommend that you add a job to edit and/or suppress the file labels in batch. Right now we…

Link Esploro asset records to Alma bib records
Permit Esploro asset records to be linked to bib records in Alma in the same way that holdings, portfolios, and digital representations are linked.
Create an Alma job by which library staff can link assets to bib records by uploading a spreadsheet of asset IDs and their corresponding bib MMS IDs.
Currently, we have two records for every ETD in our collection, the Alma bib record and the Esploro asset record. Both describe the same resource (the bib better than the asset record) and so they should be linked and not turn up in Primo as two separate search results.
14 votesEsploro assets and Alma bib records are considered different entities, each one stands by itself so it is not planned to link an Esploro asset as a service of an Alma bib record. Having said that, we are considering to allow to create a relation between an asset and an Alma bib record in a similar way we allow to create relations between assets in Esploro today. Would this be a possible solution for your need?

Afiliations in profiles should have more flexibility
We would like researchers to be able to add an affiliation, whether or not that affiliation is listed in GRID or other system. This would allow them to list commercial entities, as well as smaller organizations that may not be included.
We also do not want the list of titles in affiliations connected to our internal list of titles. Some of the terms (Assistant/Associate/Professor are fairly standard in the US, but other of our local titles are not as standard in at every institution, and definitely may be different internationally.

Add link to Leganto and other resources on Esploro Researcher Profile
Since researchers at universities also carry out teaching activities, it would be great to add to the Esploro Researcher Profile a link to the Leganto courses.
Having the ability to add this and further links to other resources (cv, LMS courses, timetables, personal webpages etc.) would increase the acceptance of the researcher profiles as researcher institutional page within the university.7 votes -
Internal or External data in the Researcher record
It would be very helpful to know via Analtyics which data fields in the Researcher record were managed internal or externally, particularly when an automatic import of new researchers is employed. This will allow library staff to know which data may be in danger of being overwritten and which data will not be automatically updated.

More granular history tab in asset mediated form
It would be good to have more granular information in the History tab of the asset form. At the moment it only records when a deposit was created or approved. Adding when fields were edited and which fields were edited, similar to what is in the Researcher History tab, would allow for greater auditing of when metadata is changed. This would be particularly useful when large teams are editing records.

Allow Changes of ETD Asset Type of Existing ETD Records
Sometimes it is necessary to change the Asset type of an ETD. For example, a change from an ETD-Doctorate to ETD-Graduate. At present there is no way of doing this. When a change is required, a new record needs to be created. This is both inefficient and results in the author losing all of their usage statistics.

Add text formatting options to the Abstract Field
When adding new records, it would be great if text editing options could be included to increase the efficiency of abstract editing. Things such as italics, bold, superscript, subscript and paragraph breaks all have to be entered in using HTML coding withich is cumbersome and time-consuming.
Our previous Institutional Repository software included text editing options allowed for very quick and efficient addition of abstract information.8 votes -
Approval notification email - weekly option
It would be good to allow researchers to subscribe to a weekly summary of new assets approved rather than receiving an individual notification for each asset on approval. When adding multiple assets for one researcher, the researcher may feel overwhelmed by the number of separate notification emails. It is possible to turn off approval notifications temporarily, however the librarian would need to remember to manually turn it back on once the assets have been added. Having a single weekly summary notification may be more end-user friendly.

Integrate calls for papers (Papers Invited) into researcher profiles
Integrating the submission form (https://www.papersinvited.com/#submit-paper) into researcher profiles makes it easy for journal editors and conference/event planners to quickly and easily advertise their call directly within their profile and continues to build up the practical functionality of the platform for researchers.

Include DOI and PMID in brief display on researcher profile
On the researcher profiles, it would be very helpful to have the DOI (as a link) and the PMID (also as a link) display on the researcher profile. Our faculty members currently display these on their existing profiles and they are both considered standard parts of citations.

Analytics should normalize publication titles to cluster article in the same journal more effectively
Analytics currently considers capitalization variants as different for publication titles, and does not disregard initial articles. After a CDI migration in early December, we have both "American Journal of Psychiatry" and "The American journal of psychiatry". We have also gotten both "Gynecologic Oncology" and "Gynecologic oncology" and we have "PloS one" as well as "PLoS ONE" and "PLOS ONE".

Populate permalink with local DOIs/handles
We are able to generate DOIs for ETDs, but we have found that users are sharing the generated permalink instead of the assigned DOI.
In any instance where there is a local DOI or handle, it would be great to have it populating in the permalink field.

Indication of suppressed asset on Researcher Profile
Currently, there is no indication for the researcher to know that an asset has been suppressed via the back-end beyond the fact that it is not visible in the Research Portal (as it still displays as normal in the Researcher Profile when signed in).
It would be good if there was an indication, similar to the notification when an asset is hidden, so that a researcher is aware that a particular asset has been suppressed in the back-end by the Librarian.
