Resources in Esploro duplicated in Primo VE
Resources inserted in Esploro are duplicated in Primo VE when a bibliographic record for the same work exists in Alma or in other collections.
We are proposing that the deduplication process, used in Primo VE for other record sources, wolud be used also for Esploro resources64 votesDear Colleagues,
We are looking into this issue, we might have a way to flag the publications better for Primo VE to dedup.
We will let you know of updates.

Configure date types used for searching and filtering in research portal
Currently, the Date facet in the research portal includes all types of dates associated with an asset (e.g. created, published, submitted, availability). Some of these dates may be used more for administrative purposes (i.e. we use Submitted for when items like ETDs were added to the repository, which may not be related to when the asset was created), and therefore should not be used for filtering search results for users.
Additionally, because not all of the date types display in the asset details, the search results when using the date facet can be confusing for users. If a user filtered…

Configurable forms
I would like to see the deposit forms and related workflows configurable by each institution as they see fit. Configurable forms will potentially allow institutions to expand the usage of the tool for other collections, such as impact cases and specialised collection which must follow certain rules. It is a key feature for the system to stay ahead in the market.

Provide enhanced ability to customize Student Deposit Profile
The current student deposit form (Configuration > Repository > Manage Student Deposit Profiles) has limited options for customization. We would like to see the following changes made in order to enable use of the form and make student deposits more streamlined. This would remove our need to upload assets ourselves. Here are a few suggestions:
1) Add an "Instructions" field for every entry field to appear below the field name in smaller text.
2) Co-authors - remove this field or make it optional. If this is not possible, could instructions be added to make it clear that it is optional.…54 votes -
LoC and DC Headings
We would like to have the availablity to select Library of Congress or Dublin Core Subject Headings instead of the ExLibris base set of subjects. We found that ExLibris's base set is poorly inadequate and it became a huge annoyance and time consuming to copy and paste the Library of Congress headings for our catalogers.

Export of search results from Portal
Whereas in Primo, it is possible to export the results of a search (or at least, up to 50) by selecting them and then Exporting them, there does not seem to be the same option in the Researchers portal. We would like to be able to export search results from Esploro. Ideally, this export would not be restricted to 50.

Add job to bulk import asset metadata and files
Currently there is actually no mechanism by which a batch of metadata and files for multiple assets can be imported into Esploro. Strongly recommend adding this functionality ASAP.
34 votesThis Idea is very broad, and since it was opened new functionality has been added, in particular the Update by CSV. CSV update covers all metadata fields in the Asset but does not include Authors, either creators or contributors, or Files.
It would be helpful to get an updated list of priorities.

Add link to Leganto and other resources on Esploro Researcher Profile
Since researchers at universities also carry out teaching activities, it would be great to add to the Esploro Researcher Profile a link to the Leganto courses.
Having the ability to add this and further links to other resources (cv, LMS courses, timetables, personal webpages etc.) would increase the acceptance of the researcher profiles as researcher institutional page within the university.34 votesDear Colleagues,
This item is not planned for 2023 but I am keeping it open here for more votes and future reference.
We will let you know if there will be any updates.

Add job to batch edit and/or suppress file labels in File Viewer
Currently, the file label displays in the File Viewer above the file itself and appears as prominently as the title of the asset (same font and size). For the thousands of assets we migrated to Esploro, this file label is by default the file name, which references the ID number of the file in our previous repository and nothing else (e.g., no author, title, year). This is not at all helpful to our patrons and is frankly quite ugly. So I would recommend that you add a job to edit and/or suppress the file labels in batch. Right now we…

Show "view online" link resolver links regardless of other links
The view online option of link resolver only displays when there are no other links or files attached to an asset. Our procedure is to always add a link to the published version of the record, therefore the link resolver never displays.
We would like to have the option to display link resolver links even if there is already a link in the record. This would ensure our staff and students could still access the resource if we have a full text subscription AND visitors to the portal could link to the published version.
In 2020 when we were launching…

ORCID Integration to populate other identifiers
The current Esploro ORCID integration writes the employer to the ORCID. At Southern Cross we have an integration that also pulls the other identifiers from the ORCID record. It would be ideal if the Esploro ORCID integration also wrote the identifiers contained on the ORCID record to Esploro. For example ResearcherID and SCOPUS ID.
Many researchers have linked these identifiers to their ORCID we would like to see them automatically linked via the API to the Esploro Researcher record.33 votesAdminTami Ezra (Admin, Ex Libris) respondedRemoving the "accepted" status so that institution can continue voting as agreed with the PWG.

Improve version control of research assets
Research outputs typically go through several different iterations or versions over the course of their lifecycle. NISO, for example, defines up to seven versions of scholarly journal articles http://www.niso.org/publications/niso-rp-8-2008-jav. In order to avoid confusion, support proper citation, and ensure compliance with publisher open access policies, it is critically important that institutional repositories clearly distinguish between different versions of the same work by prominently displaying this information in both the asset record and PDF cover sheet.
Esploro currently offers two options for communicating version: asset type and file type.
Asset type refers to the type of resource being deposited. When…

Add dedicated accessibility fields
Add fields to document the accessibility of individual research assets. This information can help Esploro managers track accessibility compliance for items and set expectations for users who may want to access items. At minimum, one field with controlled vocabulary terms and another for free-text entries would be helpful. See Cornell eCommons for sample controlled vocabulary terms addressing accessibility features and accessibility hazards: https://guides.library.cornell.edu/ecommons/batchmetadata#s-lib-ctab-19527879-4 We need our repositories to be in compliance with WCAG guidance and better mechanisms for tracking accessibility are paramount.

Esploro - Primo VE - display the physical inventory for the Esploro records
Primo as discovery tool used to display physical inventory also for bib records originally related to electronic resources, using ISSN or ISBN as matching key. This makes sense and is consistent with the idea of discovery tool.
Surprisingly, this does not work with Primo VE and Esploro records.
If an Esploro record has a an ISBN matching a Physical Title in Alma, there is no GetIt tab allowing to place a request.
Please display instead the physical inventory for the Esploro records as well.26 votes -
Statistics section on Esploro Research Portal for subunits
With the new Esploro organizational tree is now possible to display also on subunit webpages the statistics section with metrics related to downloads and views of Esploro records.
In case of organizations with 3 levels (for example in a multi-institution repository where every single institution has itself faculties or institutes as subunits) the metrics are correctly displayed at the parent and at the last sub-unit level, but the middle levels doesn’t display the sum of their sub-units.
In the described scenario this would help to highlight the impact of the research of the single participating institutions.24 votes -
Move name variants and other researcher information when moving all assets and grants
Right now when you move all assets and grants to another researcher record, you lose any unique information from the researcher record such as name variants, affiliations, areas of interest, research topics. You have to re-input this information into the researcher record you retain.
Efficiency would be increased if unique information from a researcher record, including identifiers, moved along with assets and grants.

Researcher ability to remove assets from profile (or flag for Lib to do so)
I am currently at a loss for a good workflow to allow researchers to indicate to me that assets associated with their profiles are wrong. They can hide these assets, but there is no way I can see (from Esploro) which assets are hidden.
A method for the researcher to reject an asset is sorely needed.
Failing that, a system that allows me to see what they are doing with an asset (if they hid it, or flagged it for removal).I have a faculty member with a very common name. Strongly and Very Strongly matched nearly 200 items for…

OAI_dc output improvements
We would like some improvements to be made to the OAI_dc output file, for example
dc:identifier:
There are a number of identifiers for each record (ISSN, ISBN, DOI, Asset ID, URLs, Esploro URLS (long-type permalink, Viewer, document within viewer) but there is no qualifier to differentiate the identifier/link type
dc:date:
Both published date and conference/event date range appear as dc:date - they can be different years - how do we differentiate?
dc:publisher:
Shows both publisher and country - how to differentiate between the two?
dc:rights:
Includes licence information, copyright statement and internal rights (e.g. open, closed, metadata restricted) - how…

Separate configuration options for faculty and student works
We would like to have more granular control over our asset display configurations. Theses/dissertations and other types of non-published student works do not have the same descriptive needs as published faculty works, and having a blanket configuration that is meant to address all types of published and non-published works is leading to confusion as to how to correctly present and interpret the presented metadata. In order to best represent our non-published student works and ETDs, it would be better to have those assets configured separately from faculty works.
