Add job to bulk import asset metadata and files
Currently there is actually no mechanism by which a batch of metadata and files for multiple assets can be imported into Esploro. Strongly recommend adding this functionality ASAP.
This Idea is very broad, and since it was opened new functionality has been added, in particular the Update by CSV. CSV update covers all metadata fields in the Asset but does not include Authors, either creators or contributors, or Files.
It would be helpful to get an updated list of priorities.

Update: I have had the opportunity to test out the CSV bulk import of asset metadata and the subsequent job to bring in the files. The process does work well enough, although the files have to be staged somewhere that can be accessed via URL without requiring any security measures for access. I'd recommend permitting files to also be uploaded straight from one's hard drive or cloud drive.
I've also tested bulk editing via the same CSV upload process, and this works well enough, though just for asset-level metadata (aside from the authors, which as Tami noted is complex). The ability to bulk edit asset author (creator or contributor) metadata, file-level metadata, and the files themselves is still lacking.

Bulk IMPORT allows adding multiple creators and contributors as well as files. Bulk EDITING lacks these features.

Tami -- When I posted this idea in Feb 2021, the ability to batch import metadata didn't exist. The ability to batch load and edit asset records via CSV was implemented in the meantime. I've not yet had time to test batch loading the asset files (i.e., the content, like a PDF), however. Thanks -- David

I would like to be able to change author details as a bulk job. We are currently adding corresponding authors to assets without them, and being able to find all single-author assets and change all authors to corresponding authors as a single job would save a lot of time and effort.

We would also like to see the ability to bulk update metadata. As we are cleaning up our ETD collection, we are having to manually update fields since the existing jobs to update metadata are very limited.
