  1. Ability to merge multiple researchers from the manage researchers page

It would be helpful to have an option to merge multiple duplicate researchers at once from the manage researchers page, rather than relying solely on the bulk merge duplicate researchers report. Many times we need to look at the assets themselves to determine if the researchers are indeed identical.

  2. Option to display just the Output on the Researcher Profile

    Hello,
It would be great to be able to have the option to display either just the Output section for the Researcher Profile or have the option to display the Output tab first before the profile. Since most of the information from the profile page requires active perusal from the faculty, some of the information can be outdated or not "fleshed out" (some of our faculty does not have any profile information on their page)

  3. Ability to batch edit author affiliations

We need a way to improve existing affiliations in assets to both add and cleanup affiliations that do not match with EROD. These affiliations will be more and more important with collaboration reports

  4. Ability to set a privacy flag in researcher profiles using APIs

Our university provides staff with the ability to set their contact details (work phone, email, office location) as public vs private in our HR system, which determines if these contact details are visible on public-facing applications and systems. These privacy settings do not currently flow through to Esploro. It is not currently possible to change visibility of contact details at an individual level in researcher profiles, either manually or via API. We would like to add the ability to use the Alma/Esploro APIs to set these privacy flags in Esploro Researcher Profiles as well, so that researchers contact details set…

  5. Add ability to keep assets in sets in a specific order

It would be great to have the ability to keep the assets within a set in a specific order. Now that we can use Analytics reports to create sets in Esploro, we would like to use top 10 lists we have created specifically for our institution to create sets of “top 10” assets, and add them to the Top 10 lists area on our homepage. You can currently do all of those things, but the set will not not stay in top 10 order. So the list that displays on the home page is not in top 10 order.

  6. Researcher ability to remove assets from profile (or flag for Lib to do so)

I am currently at a loss for a good workflow to allow researchers to indicate to me that assets associated with their profiles are wrong. They can hide these assets, but there is no way I can see (from Esploro) which assets are hidden.
A method for the researcher to reject an asset is sorely needed.
Failing that, a system that allows me to see what they are doing with an asset (if they hid it, or flagged it for removal).

I have a faculty member with a very common name. Strongly and Very Strongly matched nearly 200 items for…

  7. Add media availability to researcher profile

In partnership with our campus's communications office, we would like to be able to use the Researcher Profiles to easily identify faculty who are willing to speak to media on topics relating to their areas of expertise. This could be a simple "Media Availability" field: yes/no.

  8. Include additional entities on CV (media mentions, projects)

Add the option to include missing entities (media mentions & projects) on the CV.
As we enable these new features on profiles they are more obviously missing on the CV.

  9. Ability to create a customise CV at the institution level

We'd like to be able to customise a CV template at the institution level so that we can choose the desired fields/assets/activities to export.
Additionally, we'd like to be able to change the labels of the sections on the CV. We found a labels table (CV Researcher Categories) but this doesn't seem to change the labels either in the Portal view or on the exported CV.

  10. Ability to harvest full text files

The overarching goal of an institutional repository is to provide free public access to the research and creative output of the institution. Although Esploro offers institutions the ability to grow their repository by harvesting publication metadata from external sources, the imported metadata is of limited value without full text. We would like to see Esploro's smart harvesting capabilities extended by offering customers the option to match imported records with full text available from sources like Unpaywall. Using Unpaywall's API, it should conceivably be possible to identify Creative Commons licensed full text files, import them into the repository, and match them…

  11. pop-up notification when communicating with researchers about an asset

When communicating with researchers about an asset, staff members must open the asset record, navigate to the communication tab, enter their message, and click "Send." However, their message is not actually sent to the researcher until the asset record is saved. This is not particularly intuitive, especially because the message appears as a new line in the communication history with the date sent and name of recipient. In order to make this step clearer, we recommend adding a hint or pop-up notification letting staff know the asset record must be saved in order for the message to be sent.

  12. Embargo options for Links

When researchers deposit large dataset files, it is often impractical to upload them to Esploro. In those cases, we store the datasets externally. Then, in the Esploro record, we upload a readme file and add a link to the externally-stored dataset files. When access to the linked files needs to be embargoed for any number of privacy and security reasons, we need to be able to register DOIs, provide open access to the readme files, AND embargo access to the link(s).
Currently, our workaround is to 1) remove the link from the record; 2) add a copyright statement to the…

  13. Show the languages information in the Researcher Profile

Currently, we register the languages spoken by the researchers in the back end of Esploro. But this valuable information is not visible in the public Researcher Profile. We would like this info to be visible, since this way researchers can be contacted in different languages facilitating networking.

  14. Add the ability to display PlumX metrics badges

We would like the ability to display PlumX badges for assets. Being able to display WOS and Altmetrics badges/metrics on assets is great, but WOS covers only a select group of journals. Adding the ability to also include PlumX badges on assets would expand our metrics coverage to give administrators the numbers they want, and give researchers a fuller, more accurate picture of the impact of their works. Metrics make the academic world go round. And the more information we can provide our users, the more buy in we encourage across campus.

  15. Allow researchers to add their own Media Mentions and Grants via the Add Content menu.

Currently, Media Mentions and Grants can only be added via the admin side. Researchers should have this ability as well. Media Mentions (MM) and Grants could be added via the Add Content menu, with submissions approved by the library (similar to assets). The library would either need to enable these tabs on the researcher profiles, or they would automatically appear if MM or Grants are added.

  16. Add option to display more than 9 researcher profiles on a page.

Currently, only nine researcher profiles are listed per page. It would be nice if the defaults could be set by the user so that one does not need to scroll through several pages to see all profiles. Perhaps break it into 12, 24, 48 or all.

  17. Header Search Bar Configuration

The ability to enable/disenable the header search bar separately for the portal, profiles and projects. This would enable flexibility for administrators and the removal of a second and not needed search bar in the portal.
We have neither the profiles nor the projects enabled, so the removal of the header search bar would work well for us.

  19. Add ability to export assets from public researcher profile in Excel format

Right now if you look at a public researcher profile, the only export options you have are BibTex and RIS. Our users would like to use Excel as well to make reporting easier.

  20. Issue with OA status on closed asset with open manuscript

There seems to be no way to add an open access manuscript to an asset for a work whose published version is closed without listing the entire asset as OA.

This is a major issue because a central use case for Esploro is to provide openly accessible manuscript versions of closed works. This problem means that we currently cannot add an open manuscript to a non-OA asset (i.e. journal article) without marking the entire asset as OA, which is incorrect and misleading.

There is a workaround, but fixing this would be extremely helpful in the long run as we scale…
